Carter was a man I wasn’t sure about to begin with. He seemed quite cold and even heartless at times – except when he is with his brother. Reed on the other hand was a total sweetheart, but due to the attitude of previous boyfriends about his anxiety and ADHD, he keeps to himself, not letting anyone close.
Carter lives for his one weekend a month, when he goes and stays in a hotel and finds a willing body to stay and have sex with him. One of these nights, he meets Reed in the bar where Reed works, and although not totally comfortable, Reed agrees to meet him at his hotel. However, once they have had sex, Carter treats Reed appallingly, and makes him feel cheap and worthless. This is when I really do start to dislike Carter.
The following month, Carter goes back to look for Reed who he cannot get out of his mind, and does find him, but Reed is not so keen to repeat the last experience, but somehow Carter manages to persuade him. They then come to an agreement and for the next few months spent one weekend a month together, and they enjoy their time but both are holding secrets close to their chests.
One weekend, the secret life of Carter and their weekend together collided, and Carter had no idea how to act. Can they get through this together, or will Carter let his one chance of love escape him? Will Reed be able to confess his secret to Carter? Will Carter still want to be with Reed when he makes his secret confession?
This is not the first narration I have listened to by Charlie David, and as I first started listening I was reminded of previous stories I have listened which he had narrated. However, it wasn’t long before he drew me into this story totally.
