Synopsis

A rugged, muscular cop.

A sexy computer genius.

Secret desires.

Brought together by a crime committed on a cold dark night.

From the moment they meet, their lives can never be the same again…

Wild and rugged Dave Pearce is haunted by the demons of his past. He’s done his best to make a life for himself after the devastation of his lover’s suicide years earlier, but the trauma has left its mark on his soul.

Danny Wong is what Dave considers a “nerdy Bruce Lee.” Handsome, refined, out of his league.

But that doesn’t matter.

Dannys Dragon Book Cover

Dave believes himself to be dangerous for any man who would love him. So he stays back in the shadows, letting the desire he harbors for the hot grad student remain unrequited.

Danny has demons of his own. Duty-bound to his family’s goals for him, he remains shy and closeted, contenting himself with his secret fantasies about the sexy Irish cop who patrols the campus building where Danny does his graduate work.

Until one freezing winter night…

Leaving the building, fate steps in and their paths cross in a new…deeper way. Neither man can turn back. Danny and Dave must face the demons rearing their heads with full force, or lose their chance at an epic love…

I read the blurb for this story, and just had to read and review it - and I loved it.

You meet Dave and Danny, who are completely different to each other, and who knew each other by sight, but had never really sat and talked to each other - until the night Danny was the victim of a crime, and Dave tried to come to the rescue.

From this night, they agree to meet, and things escalate quite quickly, even though they were both hesitant and nervous at first with the other.  They quickly worked through this, as they both felt so incredibly drawn to the other.

Things move fast for the two, and Dave moves in with Danny almost immediately, and things are going so well for the two.  It was still a learning curve for them both, but neither took the other for granted, and day by day they grew closer to each other.  All was going well until the demons from Dave's past and Danny's mother both collide with their happy lives, and then things all fall apart.

Everything happening at once, was too much for Dave to process, and due to his demons felt he was dangerous to Danny, and even through Danny's protests he still left and went back to his fathers. Danny was totally devastated and heartbroken at this turn of events, and at the time he could see no way to help Dave with his demons.

I am not going to spoil things and say what the demons are in Dave's life, or even if Danny is able to help him..... but there is a knight in shining armour for both Dave and Danny who make their presence felt exactly when needed.

Danny moved closer and reached up, smoothing one hand over the shoulder nearer to him. Dave’s freckled skin was warm and taut over the hard muscle. He slid his touch from Dave’s shoulder, down to his chest, gently splaying his hand over one side. Dave’s heartbeat pounded under his hand, and Dave was watching him, his eyes half-closed, his breath husky. Danny had the sense he was holding himself back, letting Danny explore.
“Danny, would you take your shirt off? I really want to see you.”
He nodded. “Of course.” Sitting back, he tugged off his black sweater and unbuttoned his shirt. Dave’s hungry gaze rested on him, making his cheeks burn hotter with each button he undid. He pulled his shirt back, down his shoulders and arms, praying Dave didn’t see the skinny nerd he’d always seen in the mirror.
Dave’s eyes went even duskier. “Damn,” he muttered under his breath. He reached out and smoothed one large, callused hand across Danny’s chest, his fingertips tracing the etchings of his muscles.
Danny exhaled, his skin practically quivering from the pleasure of Dave’s touch. The pads of Dave’s fingertips smoothed over his nipples, which tightened in response. Flames of erotic heat licked up his body, through his thighs and groin. His erection, long past fully hard, strained against his jeans.
“Danny, you’re fucking hot.”
Heat bloomed in Danny’s cheeks. “Thank you.”
Dave moved lower, down Danny’s stomach, dipping his fingertips below the waistband. Danny felt Dave’s desire to please him, his role as the pleasure-giver taking over. As much as he wanted Dave to touch him, he wanted more for the other man to know he didn’t need to service him to be liked.
Lightly he grasped Dave’s wrist, staying his hand. “Not yet,” he told him gently.
Dave’s eyebrows rose, a hint of alarm in his expression. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No, of course not. I just haven’t finished your massage.”
The apprehension drained from his eyes and Dave grinned. “Okay. I must say I was enjoying that immensely.”
“I’m glad.” Danny lifted Dave’s hand to his face and pressed his lips into the flesh of the palm. He held it there for a lingering moment before releasing him. Rising on his knees, he maneuvered himself so he was kneeling on the bed behind Dave. His breath caught. “Wow.”
Dave looked at him over his shoulder. “My tattoo.” He sounded sheepish. “The folly of my youth.” His voice strained as if there were painful memories behind the work of art.
Danny stared at the enormous dragon covering the upper portion of Dave’s broad back. The creature was fierce-looking, with clawed wings outstretched, the tail winding down Dave’s spine, past the waistband of his jeans. A myriad of colors made up the body and wings of the dragon, artfully shaded, obviously the work of a highly skilled artist. “It’s beautiful, actually,” he said softly. Gingerly, he traced the lines and shadings, enjoying the feel of Dave’s warm skin and hard muscles under his fingers.
Dave turned back around. He heaved a sigh. “I’m glad you’re not repelled.”
“Absolutely not.”
“I was very young when I got it. Twenty, to be exact. My first partner, John... he was into all kinds of astrology. He told me I was born in the Year of the Dragon, you know, in the Chinese zodiac.”
“Yes I know.”
“I did it for him.” Dave’s voice was unmistakably sad. Apparently things had gone terribly wrong with this person.
“It sounds like he was very important to you.”
Dave nodded. “He was. He was. He died.”
Danny stopped tracing the tattoo, feeling Dave’s emotional pain practically emanate through his skin. He concentrated instead on massaging Dave’s shoulders, kneading the tense muscles. “I’m sorry,” he said, “I didn’t mean to pry.”
“You didn’t, Danny.” Dave’s muscles relaxed under his ministrations. “Damn, you’re good at this. Is there anything you can’t do?”
Danny smiled. He moved his massaging motions down Dave’s arms, kneading his biceps. “I can’t cook to save my life, in spite of the fact my parents ran a restaurant for years.”
Dave chuckled, but then Danny sensed him grow serious. “That’s something I’m okay at. You don’t need to cook. I’ll do it for you.”
Something in Dave’s tone made Danny go still, his hands resting on Dave’s muscular arms. It was as if an invisible cord had bound them together in that simple statement. Like yin and yang finding their place together. He resumed his gentle massage, moving his hands back to Dave’s shoulders and onto his back. “I’d like that.”
Dave’s body was more pliant under his hands now. He was obviously enjoying the massage very much. “So would I.”
Danny rubbed Dave’s back in small circles, easing the tension out of the muscles along his spine. Finally, when Dave’s entire torso was more relaxed, Danny rested his hands on Dave’s shoulders.

Excerpt:

“It’s wonderful you thought to schedule a slumber party for Taylor—” He just hoped she didn’t kill him for his comment. “—maybe I should call one of the guys and crash over at their place for the night?” Or three. The sputtering on the other end of the line made Keith smile. His father hated when he didn’t do as he was told, but being in his father’s home as Adam threw women at him was not his idea of fun. “You will be here as soon as you arrive back home. You will present yourself with a smile on, clean, neat, and as close to happy as you can manage. You only have a few years before you take over as alpha, yet you still haven’t settled down. Don’t have an heir. Aren’t even seeing anyone.” Well, the man was wrong on the last two. He had an heir, through his sister: Zeke. And he was dating; Jason had agreed to start seeing him. They planned to spend the whole weekend together, in fact. “Father—” “Now,” his father demanded. “I’m always charming and polite when you do this to me, but throwing big-boobed airheads at me is not the way to endear me to your wishes. I have no interest in mating until I find the other half of my soul. You know that.” And it will be a male that completes me, but we won’t mention that part yet…. “Such a childish attitude, Keith. Most shifters do not have fated mates, as you know, so waiting for someone who most likely doesn’t exist is asinine. Besides, as the heir, you are responsible for having children. You must have an heir! The Skyler line will not die out because you want to be too picky.” “I will attend. I will talk to the women you picked out. However, I will not take any but my mate home with me. See you shortly, Father.” Not waiting for a response, he clicked off the call and tossed his cell onto the seat beside him. Keith had to pull over a few minutes later when he realized he was shaking. He didn’t want the police to notice his weaving or distraction, nor did he enjoy the idea of wrecking his car. He loved his Shelby GT. He’d restored it from the junkyard he’d found it in back in high school. If it were up to him, it would be the only car he would ever drive. Eh, that or Taylor’s truck. His father’s heavy-handed manipulations were driving him crazy. He’d hated when his alpha tried to fix him up, but now that he’d found Jason, the idea made him ill to even consider. It took him a little while, but he got himself under control—not that his cat was helping. No, he wanted to go back to Jason and claim his mate properly. He didn't see why they had to wait. Once he was calmer, Keith entered the roadway again, and too soon for his liking, he pulled up in front of his father’s house. Before he’d so much as gotten the car door open, Taylor was there, waiting with her open arms and loving personality ready to wrap around him. “I didn’t know about the fems ambush until just a little bit ago. I’m so sorry, Keith,” she whispered as she hugged him. “This batch has a few that aren’t the vapid, big-boobed wonders he usually finds you, at least.” He knew she was trying to make him feel better, but the thought of any female, especially now, made his skin crawl and his cat want out. “Vapid or not, they aren’t my mate, Tay. It feels disloyal to even go in and pretend.” “I get that, but unless you want to explain who your mate is tonight, which I don’t advise, then playing nice is the right choice. It’s not like you have to make out with them or anything. Just chat, be dull and boring, and escape as soon as possible.” “I wish it were that easy. But I’ll be good, no matter how much I don’t want to.” “I know, but you won’t have to put up with this very long tonight, and the gathering is tomorrow night, then you can escape. I can’t leave ’til this weekend,” she added, her bottom lip puffed out far enough to make many five-year-olds green with envy—especially hers. “You’re going to love living there, Taylor. The trees are great, and I’ve already found areas that are flush with hares to hunt. I can’t wait to show you and Zeke.” “Can’t wait to get there too,” she squealed. “But for now, go play nice prince and smile for the grumpy old cat in there.” “Yeah, that makes me want to go right in. Oh yeah, no it doesn’t. But if we stay out here much longer, he’ll come out looking for me.” Swallowing hard and pasting on a smile, Keith followed Taylor into the house. The cloying scents of many perfumes attacked his nose before he’d gotten any farther than the entrance. “How can you breathe in here?” he grumbled but made his way farther into the house to meet with his father’s newest batch of ever-hopefuls. Reminding himself that he’d get to spend the entire weekend with Jason helped him make it into the living room and beyond.

Length: 86 pages

Blurb: Julian “Quinn” Quinetro, a gruff, tough Miami SWAT officer, has been injured on the job, and all he’s looking for is a little peace and quiet to recover—difficult to achieve with his large Cuban family. An adventure in picking up his prescriptions puts him in the path of his geeky, brownie-baking neighbor, Spencer Morgan. Spencer sweeps into Quinn’s life like a tropical storm of sunshine and rainbows. Not surprisingly, it’s chaos at first sight. Quinn’s in need of a little tender loving care, and Spencer decides he’s just the man for the job. Their very different lives might clash, but they might also find some common ground—and maybe more.
Picture
This is one story that will be on my read again list – I really loved it.

I love Spencer – here is someone who changed his life for his mum to have a better life.  Quinn is the typical big bad alpha…. Or is he??

The first meeting between Quinn and Spencer had me howling with laughter, you could just see everything happening… I felt so bad for Spencer as he was only trying to help.  Their next meeting is Spencer trying to apologise for what happened the first time, and went better this time.  Soon, Spencer is spending more and more time with Quinn, and Quinn finds that he is enjoying the company too. They may be complete opposites, but they seem to be getting on well – even if Quinn’s family do decide to descend on him en masse one day, and let me say it was not just one or two people!

Things change when Quinn’s birthday arrives, and Spencer is talked into doing something he would never consider doing, by one of Quinn’s friends Javier. (now there is a character that I dislike immensely).  Spencer is totally mortified and completely crushed with the events that unfold, and now it is up to Quinn to try and salvage the friendship but more importantly the fledgling relationship with Spencer.

“This is sad, man. What is it with you and brownies?”

“These aren’t just any brownies,” Spencer stated proudly as he removed his latest batch of baked chocolate decadence from the oven. “These are Nutella caramel brownies with nuts, made from scratch. These are orgasm-in-your-mouth brownies.”

“Not really sure what to think about that,” Danny muttered, eyeing the brownies dubiously. “Seriously, dude. The only orgasm you should be chasing is the one waiting next door. This is your perfect chance! He’s defenseless.” Danny reached for a brownie, but Spencer slapped his hand away before he could pilfer one.

“I have to spread the Nutella and top them with walnuts. Also, I don’t know what I find more disturbing: that you think I should take advantage of the poor guy in his defenseless state, or that you believe the only way I’ve got a shot is to take advantage of him in his defenseless state.” He stopped and turned to his pouting best friend. “And FYI, defenseless is what babies and puppies are, not huge-ass mountain men in possession of heavy artillery. I ran into him once, literally, and it’s like he’s made out of fucking granite. He’s got an eight-pack. An eight-pack.”

Spencer had never seen an eight-pack outside of cyberspace. Until his sexy neighbor, he’d questioned their existence, much like Bigfoot. The sighting had taken place one morning on his way to get groceries. Quinn had been on his way to their gated community’s pool, sporting nothing but low-riding swim trunks and flip-flops. He’d stepped into the elevator next to Spencer, and the heat outside had nothing on the heat that had spread through Spencer’s body. Luckily Quinn had been too busy texting to notice Spencer’s Human Torch impression.

“I have… I don’t even know what this is.” Spencer lifted up the hem of his apron and the Hulk T-shirt underneath with a frown. He ran his finger down a groove along his torso as he sucked his stomach in. “Does this look like muscle definition to you?”

Danny reached over to pat Spencer’s pale belly. “Looks like you need to stop baking brownies. And get some sun, man. Look at you. You’re not even white. You’re like, transparent.”

“That’s harsh.” Spencer lowered his clothes. “I don’t tan like you. I burn. You couldn’t lie to me? Besides, what am I supposed to say to him? ‘Hi, remember me? I’m the guy who’s been living next door to you for the past year. We pass each other in the hall every day, take the elevator together, have parking spaces next to each other, have mailboxes next to each other, do laundry in the same room together, and shop at the same supermarket. No? That’s okay. Excuse me while I die of embarrassment.’” Spencer walked around the kitchen counter and flopped down into a chair, waiting for the brownies to cool. “The guy doesn’t know I exist. He’s freakin’ Miami SWAT. He’s probably an overbearing, misogynistic asshole with a giant ego, anyway.”

Danny took a seat next to him, his expression filled with concern. “You don’t know that. Besides, since when do you judge people?”

Spencer narrowed his eyes at his friend. “No one likes a smartass.”

“Says the guy who got a ticket for mouthing off to a police officer.”

“I wasn’t mouthing off. I was being witty and adorable. The guy just had no sense of humor. Besides, I was nowhere near that fire hydrant. He was clearly behind on his quota. Bet that wouldn’t have happened to Quinn.” Was he pouting? Oh God, he was. Danny was right; he was sad.

“Probably because he’s SWAT and can park his ginormous truck wherever the hell he wants.” Danny went to the glass doors of the balcony overlooking the parking spaces and started laughing.

“What?”

“You know how they say dogs look like their owners? I wonder if the same applies to cars.”

Spencer joined Danny at the window, letting out a low groan. His tiny yellow Fiat gleamed cheerfully beside Quinn’s monster black Chevy Silverado. “It looks like a sunspot.”

You are cordially invited to the wedding of Jon Connor and Ian Jones!

When I think about my guys and who I think marriage would mean the most to, I always think about Red. Growing up in foster care and spending his first twenty-five years just trying to survive, the concept of family is a dream he never thought would become a reality. He found a family with Bull, the Connors and our favorite guys in the garage, but marriage would really make him a Connor. Not just the piece of paper, but the vows in front of all their loved ones, the promise of forever…it’s everything Red deserves.

In this sequel novella to For A Reason, we follow Bull and Red through the wonderful and crazy adventure of planning a wedding. From setting a date to saying those two magical words to their surprise Irish honeymoon, we get to see how love has transformed everyone’s favorite couple. And stick around for the outtakes, Red and Bull’s marriage has had quite the impact on all the guys!

Authors Note: 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Trevor Project, the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

Series Note: This book is not a standalone. For A Reason is a must read so you have Bull and Red’s full back story. That said, the sequence of events in this book picks up about five months after Tricking Chase (Devils Pride MC, Book #1) and I do suggest reading them in order. After this book, the two series will move forward separately.

Their Reason-Sizzling Miami-Book 4 by Jessie G

Red has grown up in the foster care system and he spent so many years trying to make it in a tough world. His idea of family is so foreign to him that he thought it would never happen for him. Now he finds a family with Bull but would marriage really make him an O'Connor? Red wants a family for himself and a marriage license is great but he wants everything that goes with being with a family and he deserves nothing less.

This was a very sweet novella and I just completely loved Bull and Red and I was so captivated by their love. OMG the love and sexual intensity between these men was so off the charts of pure hotness. This story follows them as they plan their wedding and I was so into their process and loved every minute of it but come on, who doesn't love a good gay wedding...lol

I like that the author gave us some glimpses into some of the characters from the series past. I love the location that they chose for the wedding and this place was so perfect for this couple. I thought that bull and read were some great character additions to this series. Now the question that remains, when or if children will be blessed for these amazing man. I can't wait for the next installment. I highly recommend Their Reason by Jessie G!!!

For a second, Bull forgot what he’d been trying to do. All he could think about was what he was going to do when they got back from the courthouse. “I’m anticipating a lot of things. Getting our marriage license today…”

“There’s a three day waiting period, remember?” Red teased.

“Marrying you in two weeks,” Bull continued, refusing to be derailed. “Having all our friends with us when we share our vows, our first kiss as husbands, our first dance as husbands…”

“I can’t dance.” The teasing smile slipped away and Red ducked his head. “I never have and there’s not enough time for me to learn and if my body doesn’t cooperate then I’ll look stupid. I’ll make you look stupid.”

“It’s cooperating just fine now, though, isn’t it?” Bull nudged his head up and pressed a kiss to his wrinkled brow. “Cause we’re dancing, Ian, right here in the bathroom.”

Red’s eyes widened in surprise. “We’re dancing?”

“Well, our bodies are swaying, our feet are moving…yeah, that’s dancing.” Watching the realization sink in and seeing Red’s smile bloom again was everything.

Red leaned in, silently begging for a kiss, before slapping him on the ass. “We have an appointment to get to, but maybe later we can try this again without clothes.”

Writing has been the elusive, life-long goal that seemed to be getting further away as the years went by. It took 30+ years to achieve, but Jessie’s decided that timing is everything. The world wasn’t ready for m/m romance back then and, now that it is, the girl in the closet has finally found her writing home.

Jessie is a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics, and happily ever after. She’s a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you'll find throughout her books.

Cover Reveal
Release date: September 1st 2015 (tentatively)

Victor Dimir moved to America with his traditional Romanian parents when he was just a child. His Romani parents taught him their traditions and how to be a shrewd business man. But it was the attention of a classmate at school that taught a teenage Victor about his sexuality. When he came out to his parents he knew it would be difficult for them to understand, but he never expected them to disown him.

Andrew Jones grew up with a single mom and his grandmother teaching him about life, he had an absentee father at best. The only thing the man ever did for Andy that stuck was buy him a camera for his thirteenth birthday. When Andrew went off to college on a scholarship to study photo journalism, he wound up falling in love with his Romanian roommate.

They became inseparable and wound up starting their own business together; a gay porn website where people could go and watch romantic gay porn instead of the rough and tough, or wham bam thank you man crap that was flooding the internet at that time. After ten years together they were still perfectly happy, they didnt even realize something was missing, until they met a broken young man that needed a family.

Matthew Carlson was homeless, jobless and broken. Hed been on his own since he was sixteen when he ran away from home after being brutally assaulted by several other young men that he thought were his friends, and then being told he brought it on himself for being gay by his parents. Matthew has done a lot of things these last few years just to get by. When he finds the flyer for All Cocks, he decides to call and see where it leads. What has he got to lose?

Matthew has deep rooted scars that arent usually visible on the outside. But when he walks into All Cocks, both Victor and Andrew see them, they also see him. Can three men that didnt even realize they needed each other get past the stigma of society to find a place of happiness, together?

*Advisory warning: This story contains a scene of sexual assault.*

Excerpt; *This is an adult series with mature content intended for 18+ readers only*

It was too much and not enough all at the same time. Mattie had never in his life felt what he was feeling right now with these two men. They played his body like an instrument, knowing exactly what keys to push to get the desired note that seemed to only enhance their arousal, as well as Matties. His hips began thrusting into the welcome warmth of Andrews mouth and he ran his fingers through the black curls.

The fingers of his other hand scrabbled for purchase, clawing at the blanket they lay on and then he felt Victor run his fingers over the top of his hand. He twined their fingers together, then brought their joined hands up to his mouth and turning them over, he kissed the inside of Matties palm and, who the hell knew that could be an erogenous zone! Mattie gasped and thrust further into Andrews mouth.

This is how its supposed to be, how its supposed to feel when you want to be with someone, when you love someone. Matties voice was barely above a whisper, barely audible between his pants and groans.

It is part of it Mattie, if you are being with right persons. Victor responded. He cupped Matties jaw with his hand, running his thumb over Matties cheek leaning in to steal another kiss. He paused when Matties brown eyes fluttered open and right then, he looked so deep into Victors soul the big man swore he could feel Mattie inside him.

Victor

Yes Mattie

I love you

WLK synopsis

StrangeBedfellows - audio cover
Can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.
As the sole offspring of the Democratic United States president and his political operative wife, Trevor Moga was raised in an environment driven by the election cycle. During childhood, he fantasized about living in a made-for-television family, and as an adult, he rejected all things politics and built a highly successful career as far from his parents as possible.
Newly elected congressman Ford Hollingsworth is Republican royalty. The grandson of a revered governor and son of a respected senator, he was bred to value faith, family, and the goal of seeing a Hollingsworth in the White House.
When Trevor and Ford meet, sparks fly and a strong friendship is formed. But can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

Narrator:

I have listened to a few of Cardeno C’s audio books, but this is the first one by this narrator.  I have to admit that as I first listened to this narrator, I didn’t like his voice….. however, I left it for a few days and then went back and tried again – and wow this time his voice totally drew me into the story.  He had a sort of mesmerising quality to it, and I was annoyed when I had to stop at any time!  I also have to say his voice would also send shivers down me as he had a husky side to his voice whenever there was an intimate scene. I have listened to this audio more than once, just to hear the huskiness again!

Story:

Wow is my first word for this story!  This story is two men, who come from vastly different home lives.   Trevor came out when he was eighteen, and his family supported him wholeheartedly.  However, Ford is not sure what his family would think, due to their strict religious upbringing, so therefore he has been hiding this side of himself away from everybody.  From the story, you can tell he yearns to have someone special in his life, but due to his upbringing he is so afraid or rather terrified of what would happen if he ever told people he was gay.

When they first meet, Ford has no idea it is Trevor that he met in the bar, and is totally terrified when he finally realises who he is with. Their political backgrounds did not bode well for a relationship.  The two men meet as often as they can, and their time together is what keeps them both sane.  Whenever they were together, both found all the trials and tribulations of lives disappear just from their greeting hugs.  All seemed to be going well, even though they had to be so careful not to be seen together at any time, and their time together was sometimes very short.  There were also the odd occasions where it was almost a month before they saw each other, but they did make sure they spoke to each other frequently.

When they have been together for seven months, things really come to a head. Trevor grows very jealous of all the women that are seen with Ford, especially when they were referred to as a girlfriend or even fiancée.   Both men said things they shouldn’t to each other on the subsequent phone call, and when they rung off, and then thinking after, Trevor realises that the reason he is so jealous is because he is totally, head over heels, in love with Ford.  Trevor goes  to Ford to try and talk things through, and Ford confesses to Trevor that he loves him too.  Although he is now being groomed to run for the senate, Ford had already decided that he could not live like this anymore, there is no contest between Trevor and his political career, he loved Trevor would no longer hide who he was and who he loved.

The way that Cardeno C wrote this story, kept me intrigued.  I loved both of the MC’s, for very different reasons.  Trevor was so sure of himself, he was comfortable with who he was and did not worry about how people thought of him. He was successful and this showed in everything he did, but he was also so in tune with Ford, and his feelings.  Ford, although being in politics was sure of who he was, but kept his being gay hidden away.  I think this is also due to his religious family, as they saw his being gay as being a sin. I really did feel for Ford, he just didn’t want to disappoint his family, but until he found Trevor there was no reason for him to change things.

I really did love this audio, and I would recommend it highly.  Although I had a problem the first time I started listening (that was more down to me than the actual audio), when I tried the second time I was totally hooked.  I look forward to seeing more on audio not only from Cardeno C, but also from Ron Herczig

Title: Beyond the Surface
Series: The Breakfast Club #1
Author: Felice Stevens
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: August 17, 2015
On 9/11, firefighter Nick Fletcher’s world changed forever. He's unable to rid himself of survivor’s guilt, made worse by the secret he hides from his family and co-workers. Nick's life is centered around helping burn victims, until he is reunited with the man he’d once loved but pushed away. Now he has a second chance at a love he thought lost forever.
For fashion designer Julian Cornell, appearances mean everything. His love affairs are strictly casual, and the only thing he cares about is making his clothing line a success. A chance encounter with the man he loved long ago has Julian thinking for the first time in years there may be more to life than being seen at the best parties and what designer labels to wear.
When Julian’s world takes an unexpected turn, it's Nick who helps him regain perspective on what matters most in life. Julian, in turn, helps Nick accept who he is and understand he isn’t responsible for tragedies he couldn't prevent. Lost love found can be even sweeter the second time around and after all the years apart, both men learn to look beyond the surface to find the men they are inside.

Beyond The Surface-The Breakfast Club-Book 1

Nick Fletcher, the fire fighters life changed forever on 9/11 as he couldn't handle that he was a survivor and had huge amounts of guilt plus he's hiding a secret from his family and coworkers. Nick has a second chance at love with a man he pushed away years ago that he came across while helping burn victims.

Julian Cornell is a fashion designer and looks mean everything to him. He goes through men and works on his fashion line. Now with running into the man he once loved, could this be what he's been waiting for? With Julian's world now being turned upside down it's Nick who shows him the real meaning of life and what really matters. Julian also helps Nick in-turn by showing him that he's not responsible for the lives lost and that was out of his control. Can pure unconditional love save these men from themselves?

I love how the author created these characters and developed their love from their first meeting in high school to when they meet again and nothing was more important than having their love save them. Some brilliant writing that shows how drastically their lives have changed when they meet up years later and at the same time how fragile that love is and is also what saves them from themselves.

I really enjoyed how the author brought reality into this great love story and how much Nick and Julian had to fight for the love they so desperately wanted. I like how the author brings 9/11 into the story but yet doesn't make it the tragic part of the novel. Even though the guys have found love, they have plenty of struggles ahead of them such as Nick's family, Juliens friends and of course their own baggage, that they have to come to terms with. I quite enjoyed this very well-written love story and so will you!
Julian was in the kitchen, sitting on one of the stools by the counter. He had a glass in front of him filled with what Nick presumed was vodka, having spied the Grey Goose bottle.

“Would you like a drink? I have beer, wine…anything you’d like.”

Nick shook his head, regret piercing his heart as he watched the hope drain from Julian’s eyes.

“I don’t think so. I’m going to head home. I want you to know how much I appreciate what you did for Jamal tonight.”

Julian stood abruptly, kicking the stool away from his feet.

“Don’t treat me like I’m some fucking stranger, Nicky. You owe me. It’s been eighteen years; you think I’m going to let you walk out on me again like you did before? After what just happened between us? After you fell apart? No fucking way. I’m not that same person and neither are you, obviously.”

Taken aback by Julian’s anger, Nick remained mute.

“What the hell is going on with you? One minute you’re tongue fucking me into the next century and the next you’re freaking out. I know I’m a damn good kisser, but this isn’t about us, is it? It has nothing to do with our past and everything to do with you and the shit that’s floating around in your head.”

Julian stepped closer to him and Nick, who normally couldn’t stand people near him, was rooted to the floor, unable to move.

“Talk to me, Nicky. Tell me what happened to you.”

He was so tired of holding himself together, feeling like at any moment he’d shatter into a million tiny pieces, leaving nothing behind but a pile of dust.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

The words poured out of him, flowing unchecked this time. “It should’ve been me. We all went to the Towers to save them. It was my day off, but I went anyway. I heard and couldn’t stay home; I had a duty to help, you know? But I lived and they all died. Why, Julian? Why did I live and they didn’t?”

“Oh, Nick.” Julian held him close. “I don’t have the answers for you. No one does. But I’m going to be completely selfish and say I’m so thankful you did make it and we’re here together after all these years.”

Unflinching green eyes gazed back at him. Clever, beautiful eyes that Nick could never stop dreaming of. Eyes that at one time had held the promise of forever, until Nick ruined everything with his cowardice and shame. Unable to maintain Julian’s scrutiny, Nick broke away and ran to the elevator, his chest heaving, eyes stinging with tears.

“Let me out. I need to leave here. NOW.”
I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. I started reading traditional historical romances when I was a teenager, then life and law school got in the way. It wasn’t until I picked up a copy of Bertrice Small and became swept away to Queen Elizabeth’s court that my interest in romance novels became renewed.
But somewhere along the way, my tastes shifted. While I still enjoys a juicy Historical romance, I began experimenting with newer, more cutting edge genres and discovered the world of Male/Male romance. Once I picked up her first, I became so enamored of the authors, the character-driven stories and the overwhelming emotion of the books, I knew I wanted to write my own.
I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

When Andrew pushes Tanner away, Tanner heads off on the planned trip alone. Once Tanner leaves town, his life takes a different path and it’s ten years before he returns. Now a firefighter, he’s never forgotten his first love, and no one has ever taken Andrew’s place in his heart. He’s determined to see if Andrew feels the same way. They might not have been ready to deal with emerging feelings years ago, but now might be the time for their second chance at love.

THE SWEET pungency of garlic wafting through the air combined with the aroma of hot and spicy pepperoni with mushrooms—heaven. Andrew tried to watch his diet, conscious of his carbs and fat intake, but a weekly pizza was his one weakness. Meeting Tanner at the Pizza Place gave him an excuse to indulge while catching up with his best friend.

“Are you going to eat that?” Tanner indicated the remaining slice on the plate in the middle of the table. “Because if you don’t take it in the next ten seconds, it’s mine.”

“Hey, hands off,” Andrew said as he snatched the piece of pizza and placed it on the empty plate in front of him.

Tanner held his hands up, palms facing Andrew, in mock surrender. “All right. It’s all yours. I wouldn’t want to come between you and your pizza.” Andrew warmed at the familiarity of the words. They’d been coming here on Thursday nights for years and the routine never changed. Tanner always gave Andrew more than his fair share of the pizza, and Andrew took it, but not without a bit of lighthearted banter.

“You know, you could do with a bit of fattening up,” Andrew said, taking in his friend’s lean frame.

Tanner just raised his eyebrows and kept on eating. It was another routine with them—Andrew’s friendly teasing about Tanner’s looks—but in reality, Tanner’s frame had started to fill out over the last year, something Andrew had begun to notice. He’d also noticed other people looking and assumed Tanner wouldn’t have any trouble attracting a guy, if that’s what he was looking for. Although Andrew knew Tanner’s preferences, he was relieved Tanner didn’t share any other details.

Andrew gave Tanner a once-over as he filled his mouth and chewed thoughtfully. At six feet, Tanner had the body of a swimmer, tall and lean with sleek muscles. Andrew thought he moved like a swimmer too. He was smooth and graceful, and purposeful in his movements. Even now, as he brought the pizza to his mouth, he did so with slender hands and delicate fingers—fingers Andrew found himself staring at while Tanner sucked the grease from them. Tanner pulled the last digit from his mouth with a soft popping sound and smacked his lips. “Yum.” He looked at Andrew. “What?”

Andrew tore his gaze away from Tanner’s shining lips, cleared his throat, and turned the conversation to the trip they’d been discussing before the meal arrived.

“Dad brought home some more brochures last night. I think he’s more excited about the trip than we are.”

“Nah. Not possible.” Tanner grinned. “I can hardly wait. Beginning of summer and we’re outta here, man. Six months. I’m counting the days. Six months till freedom. Bring it on.”

Tanner’s enthusiasm was as infectious as always, and Andrew couldn’t help but smile at him. The background music in the restaurant switched over from a slow track to some Italian mambo track, the upbeat tempo matching his mood. Andrew stacked the plates on the table and moved them to the side, making room for the folder he placed in front of Tanner. He then took the map tucked into the back cover, unfolded it, and spread it across the red-and-white tablecloth.

“Dad got another brochure on the Grand Canyon, but we’ve already covered that.” He used his finger to point to Arizona. It was going to be the destination for an overnight hike that would test their skills. They were used to hiking around Halls Ridge but not to the extremes of temperature and lack of water in the canyon. “We haven’t really spoken about Florida yet.” As he spoke, Andrew took a glossy foldout from his pocket and flattened it to the table. “See here—”

“Hold up, Drew.” Tanner reached across and stilled Andrew’s hand as it hovered over the map. “I have a wild idea. Radical, yes? But how ’bout we don’t plan everything to the nth degree and just play it by ear.”

Tanner’s hand was surprisingly soft where he held Andrew’s hand. Andrew expected roughened skin from Tanner’s work as a mechanic. He blushed as he became aware of Tanner waiting for him. “Huh?”

“You know. Just arrive and go with the flow. Stop when something’s interesting, and move on when it’s not.”

Andrew dragged his thoughts back to the conversation as Tanner released his hand. “But how will we know how long we should plan for? Or what we need to take? What if we’d be best to book something in advance or we miss it? I’d hate to get all the way home and realize we should have stopped somewhere.”

“Don’t you ever want to take a chance? Throw caution to the wind?” Tanner tilted his head and looked at him, but Andrew knew he’d never feel relaxed or comfortable without some sort of road map and plan.

“I… ahh….”

Tanner laughed. “It’s okay, Drew, we can have a plan. I’m lucky I’ve got you to do all the preparation and make sure this trip is everything we want it to be. But maybe, just maybe, I’m not saying you have to, but just think about relaxing a bit? We don’t have a deadline and can take as long as we like to see the country.”

“We can. Take as long as we like, that is. But the money’s going to run out sometime. I know we’ve both put away a bit, but it’ll only go so far.”

“And then we’ll be on even more of an adventure.” Tanner’s eyes gleamed as he winked at Andrew. “Just imagine, we can camp by the roadside and get laboring jobs. We can pick fruit, sow grain, shovel horseshit.” He threw his head back in laughter, his full belly laugh giving Andrew no option but to join in.

“Idiot,” Andrew said as he tossed a sugar packet from the container on the table at Tanner.

Although he knew Tanner was only joking, the idea of being stranded in the unknown without any money gave Andrew the chills.

Tanner eventually stopped laughing and sat back upright in his seat before taking a long swallow of his Coke and pulling the Florida brochure toward him.

“Okay. Show me where you suggest we visit. I assume we need to decide so Josh can put it in the book?”

Andrew nodded. “Yeah. I said he could do it on the weekend, once we’d discussed it.”

“Cool. He’s a great kid. I love what he’s done with the book already.”

Andrew watched Tanner flip through a few pages that were a mix of neat handwritten notes and immaculate cutouts from the various brochures—places to visit, things to see, costs, durations for each destination, what to pack, and all manner of other information. Information Andrew had painstakingly researched and written into the book, but Tanner didn’t need to know that. He didn’t need to know the countless hours Andrew spent on that notebook, on their dream. Andrew had taken note of every place Tanner had mentioned when they discussed the trip and made sure he’d included activities he knew Tanner would enjoy. The notebook had become a labor of love.

And soon the already full itinerary expanded yet again as they discussed alligators, beaches, theme parks, and fishing.

First things first….. keep a tissue nearby for this one!!  This is book two in the Heroes series, and we met Andrew in book 1 – Charlie’s Hero, but this is his story…….

Everything was fine in Andrews’s life….. he had his best friend Tanner, he lived at home with his dad and brother, and he was busy planning his dream road trip he was taking with Tanner.  He was so excited, and was aware of new feelings he had inside when he was close to Tanner, and hoped he could find out exactly what they meant.   Suddenly everything changes, and Andrews life is completely turned upside down, by a tragedy no-one was expecting.  Then he had to make the hardest decision of his life, one which he believed would protect his little brother, and he sacrificed his happiness to do so.

As I read this part of the story, I could see both sides, as this book has been written from both Andrew’s and Tanner’s point of view.  You could feel the grief and sorrow pouring from Andrew as he was making the decisions, and I have to say I just wanted to reach in and hug him.  From whispers he had heard, he did the only thing he thought open to him at the time, and that was to push Tanner away and try and build a new life for himself and his little brother.  Tanner was devastated by Andrews’s rejection, and rather than try and talk to him he embarked on the road trip alone.

Then we fast forward ten years, and Tanner returns to the town.  Although he has been away, he has never forgotten Andrew (who he affectionately calls Drew), and wants to see if there is any chance that they could finally be together.  Things are strained between the two at their first meeting, and it is clear to Tanner that he must speak to Drew alone to try and clear the air.  Both seem to have resentment inside them, but when they finally sit and talk calmly together, you can then see the whole picture and so can they, and neither can hold their resentment for long.

Tanner and Drew seem to talk more this time, and I think that was a big part of their downfall ten years earlier.  Tanner shows Drew the case he took with him on the trip of a lifetime, and tells Drew that it was fun to go to all of the places, but it wasn’t his dream trip as he wasn’t there with him.  Tanner tells Drew that it is time for them to make new dreams together and see where it all goes…..  but at the same time, Tanner  is also devastated to learn that Drew has still not told anybody he is gay, not even his brother Josh.

You realise that Drew is not ashamed of who and what he is, but although his brother is gay himself, he is terrified that admitting he too is gay would mean he would then lose his brother, and that he cannot bear the thought of.   As Tanner and Drew grow closer together, Drew realises that he must tell his brother the truth, and you can feel the tension coming off the page as he gathers up the courage to speak to him….. only to find that Josh already knew, and then Drew is embarrassed when Josh reveals how he found out!!  Drew is so relieved to find he will not lose his brother, and this in turn seems to relax Drew even more in his relationship with Tanner.

I absolutely loved the Andrews Story, it was filled with emotion, and from the way the Nic Starr wrote this you could feel this emotion, and see how both Tanner and Drew were feeling.  At some points reading the book, I was willing them to take a chance on each other, but I could also fully understand why Andrew took the route that he did ten years earlier….. then the trouble is, you then make things harder for yourself when you want people to see you for who you are properly, and not what you have been portraying.

I really did enjoy this book, and from the way it finishes I believe that there will hopefully be another book in the series, so we can see what happens in the future to Drew and Tanner, plus Charlie and Josh.

The Marine in Unit A Mockingbird Place
© 2015 Kris Cook
Having been awake all night, I step out of the shower. The rally doesn’t start until noon, but I need something, anything that can distract me from thinking about what happened with Adam. Giving him space is what Martha and Sarah think I should do, so I decide to let a single day pass. But if I don’t hear from him by tomorrow, I will make the first move to fix things between us. And besides, Adam still needs help setting up his apartment before his mother arrives, and I want to be that help.
I finish getting ready, and take one last look at my hair before leaving my apartment. I park my car in the student parking lot.
The university I attend has a large green space in the middle of campus. Mature trees line the sidewalks that are sparsely filled with students going to and from their classes and dormitories. In the fall the grounds will be teeming with students.
I look at the time on my cell. 8:21am. I have over three and a half hours to kill before the rally. Where to go? The library? No. I didn’t need to go over my speech any more, since I’ve spent several early morning hours already working on it. I am ready. So I decide to get a bite of breakfast in the cafeteria.
When I walk inside, I see Adam at a table filling out some paperwork. I freeze in place. I am in a quandary whether to approach him or not, whether to follow Martha and Sarah’s advice or not, whether to tamp down my desire to sit down next to him to say how sorry I am--or not.
Adam looks at me. Did he feel me staring at him? Before I can step back to the entrance to leave, he waves me over. I feel my shoulders relax as relief rolls through me. At least he is willing to talk to me again. I take cautious steps in his direction. Gone are his jeans and T-shirt and facial hair. He is clean-shaven, wearing black slacks and a white dress shirt and blue tie. Casual or dress up, with whiskers or without, Adam is the epitome of masculine beauty.
“Have a seat, Oliver.”
I do, waiting for him to lay into me again about seeing his prosthetic legs. “Would you mind if I put your name down as a reference on this application? They’re asking for a student or professor’s name. You’re the only one I know.” He looks at me with those damn gorgeous doe eyes. “I have the option to leave it blank if you don’t want me to.”
“Please. Use my name. I’ll be happy to be your reference.” Your friend. Your boyfriend. Whatever.
“Thanks, buddy.” He smiles and then goes back to filling out the paperwork.
I have the strongest urge to bring up what happened last night to try to clear the air. But hearing Martha and Sarah’s words of advice replay in my head, I keep my mouth shut. If he isn’t ready to talk about it, then I certainly am not going to mention it. I will give him whatever space and time he needs. At least he isn’t asking me to leave.
“Done.” He stands. “Wish me luck.”
“Sure. For what?”
“That I can get a job in the cafeteria. Are you in a hurry?”
“I don’t have to be anywhere until noon.”
“Good. Let me turn this in and maybe I could trouble you with that tour around campus you offered me.”
I am so glad he’s asking for my help. “I’ll be happy to show you some shortcuts.”
“You’re a lifesaver. My sense of direction is shot. I wish you could have seen the look on my face when I walked into the women’s locker room by mistake earlier. Why the door was unlocked I have no clue, but I could feel my cheeks burning when the girls started giggling and running for cover. I turned and walked out as fast I could, buddy.”
“You really do need my help. It took me a whole semester to figure out how to get around this place. But I’m surprised that you walked into the women’s locker room. Isn’t a good sense of direction necessary on the battlefield?” Oh shit. Why did I bring that up?
“It’s easy on the battlefield. You just have to know where the bullets are coming from.” He smiles, which makes me feel better. “I’m starving, how about you?”
“Famished.”
“Breakfast is on me.” He hands me a twenty-dollar bill. “The lady in charge asked me to fill this out today but won’t be able to interview me until next week. Let me turn this application in and you order us some breakfast. Then we’ll go on the tour. I’ll be right back.”
He walks away. His limp is gone. No one in the cafeteria has a clue that he is missing a leg but me. And it certainly doesn’t bother me, not one bit. I don’t know how he lost his leg, but obviously he hasn’t quite accepted it yet. He mentioned a friend was supposed to help him initially, but the guy never showed. Did Adam have any help packing and loading before driving to Mockingbird Place? He didn’t seem overly tired that night, but he is a strong guy. A former-Marine. I guess he’s not limping because he got some rest after unloading his things into Malcolm’s old place. No, Adam’s place. Unit A is Adam’s.
I go and order two sausage egg cheese biscuits and orange juices for us. When I get back to our table, he is already there.
Adam looks up at me. “Breakfast is served?”
I place the tray on the table. “Yes, sir.” I can’t resist and salute Adam, instantly worrying I might be overstepping again. Thus far he’s been very closed mouth about his military service. But he returns the salute with a devilish grin, easing my concerns.
We eat our breakfast, talking about everything except the main issue on my mind.
“I bet you’re glad our complex has a pool,” he says. “It’s going to be very hot according the weatherman for the next several days.”
“You like to swim?”
He shrugs. “I used to.”
I brace myself, thinking we might be getting close to opening Pandora’s box about what happened.
But as usual, Adam changes the subject. “Oliver, how about you show me the buildings where my classes are going to be first?”
“Sure thing.”
He hands me his schedule, and I realize the lid on the infamous box is not only shut tight, it is also locked with no sign of the key in sight. What is it going to take for Adam to explain his sudden and over-the-top reaction to me learning he lost his leg? And will I ever learn if he is gay or straight?
As we leave the cafeteria, he asks, “Do you know the guy who lives in Unit D? Long black hair. Blue eyes. Good looking. He invited me to a party tonight at his and his roommate’s place.”
“That’s Trace. I’m going, too. In fact the whole complex should be there. It’ll give you another change to get to know everyone.”
“The ones who helped us move my things were very nice, though the MMA fighter is a bit intense.”
“Tony’s that way, but I believe he’s really a good guy underneath all that darkness.”
“I wasn’t sure I would go, but now that I know you’re going I will.”
We had so much drama last night, and today he’s acting like it never happened. Now, he says he only is going to the party if I’m going. Damn. He confuses me so much. I sense now is not the time to confront him with what I’m feeling. But if not now, when? “I’m glad you’re going, too.”
We walk around campus, and I point out the iconic spots.
“That’s Dallas Hall, the oldest building on campus.”
“It’s quite grand. I like the dome.”
When we got to the building that had the last class on his list, he turns to me.
“Thanks, buddy.”
Buddy. There’s that word again. But better to be called that than nothing. I did say I would settle for friendship, but can I really? The more time I spend with him the more my feelings get mixed up.
“No trouble, Adam. I enjoyed hanging out.”
“Me, too. I would have been completely lost on my first day of classes if it hadn’t been for you and your fantastic tour.” He sighs. “I better get back to looking for a job.”
“Do you plan on working the entire time you’re in school?”
“Yeah. With the financial aid I’m getting I don’t have to work, but I want to. It will give me extra spending money and will keep me busy.”
I have a feeling that he likes keeping busy so he doesn’t have to face bigger issues inside him. “You don’t seem like you would be happy working in food service to me. Have you thought about doing something else?”
“Like what?”
“I know the guy who heads the campus police department, Chief Torres. He told me the other day he has two openings. I bet he’d love to hire you, especially with your military background.”
“Right.” Adam shakes his head. “A one-legged Marine would make such a great police officer.”
I am nervous to push him, but have to try. At least he’s mentioning his service--and missing leg. It’s a start. “Adam, I saw you unload that truck and move all those boxes and furniture into your place. You’re strong and capable. You would definitely be an asset to Torres’s department.”
“You really think so?” My cell rings. “I know so.”
I answer the call. “Oliver, where are you?” Candy’s voice sounds frantic.
“I’m at the engineering building.”
“That’s clear across campus. You’re supposed to speak in two minutes.”
“Oh crap. The time got away from me. I’ll run. Stall if you have to.”
“Hurry.”
“Sorry, Adam, but I have to go. I’ve got a speech to give.”
“I’d like to hear it.”
“Then follow me.”

Blurb:

Detective Austin Michaels didn’t think life could get any better after he was accepted into the most notorious narcotics task force on the East Coast, headed up by two of the baddest’ Lieutenants with the Atlanta Police Department - Cashel Godfrey and Leonidis Day.

Michaels knew he would fit right in as the team’s sniper, having received his fair share of commendations for marksmanship. He was just as badass as the rest of the twenty brothers that made up their team. But when Michaels lets their prime suspect get away from a huge bust with over a quarter of a million dollars in drugs, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it right.

Left with no other options, God chooses to bring in outside help, calling on his long-time friend and bounty hunter, Judge Josephson.

Judge was considered one of the best trackers during his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. After retiring, he used those skills to become one of the most sought out fugitive trackers in the country. When Judge gets a call from his old friend needing his help, he quickly tells God, yes.

Still embarrassed, and intent to prove himself, Michaels immediately volunteers to partner up with Judge to get their suspect back quickly and quietly. Neither man wanted or needed a partner. But, after Judge and Michaels get on the road, the hate/lust relationship they quickly develop between them will either make them heroes… Or get them killed.

Don't Judge-4th Book in The Nothing Special Series by A.E Via

Detective Austin Michaels dream came true when he was accepted into the narcotics task force on the East Coast. Michaels fit right in as the team sniper as he was just as tough as his team was. Michaels will do anything to fix a huge problem that was his doing. Now is the time to call in the heavyweight and that is.....Judge Josephson

Judge was one of the best, actually the best tracker while he was with United States Marine corps. Judge can't turn down his friends request for help so he says yes. Michaels is still upset as to what happened on his watch that he volunteers to work with Judge to get the huge problem resolved and quickly. Judge never works with a partner and this time is no different but GOD (Task Force) persuades him to work with Michaels and the bickering starts but that turns into lust and OMG what hot lust it is!

One of the hottest encounters I have ever read is between Michaels and Judge and both men are completely surprised that each other is attracted to men and now they are forced to look at each other quite differently than when they first met. The guys are on a stake out and growing rapidly closer to each other until Judge gets a call about his father and that is when everything starts to crumble. Judge keeps losing everyone close to him and he couldn't bear to lose Austin so he pulls back which completely breaks Austin's heart.

This was an amazing instalment of A.E. Via's series, Nothing Special and she created such an emotional and beautiful story with some of the most brilliant characters I have ever read. This novel was darker but it fits so well in the series. I love the man in GOD's Task Force as these are real hot men. The way the author creates these amazing alphas is simply brilliant. I could recommend Don't Judge enough for everyone to read!!!!

Excerpt:

Judge carefully scanned each document that was relevant to tracking someone. He could care less about what laws the man had broken, it wasn’t his job to determine if he needed arresting or if he as guilty. His job was to bring him in. “I take it you want this guy alive.” That comment got him a lot of stares.

“If you don’t mind.” Day said between clinched teeth.

Judge looked around. “You do understand this guy is a murderer. You think he’s gonna roll out a welcome mat for me.”

He watched God rear back in his seat and run his hands through his long hair. “I know that, Judge. Just try. I’m not telling you to get yourself killed. But if you don’t have to take a kill shot, I’d appreciate it.”

“I make no promises.”

“Of course not.” Day said drily. “you just make sure to bring my sniper back alive and you won’t have any beef out of me.”

Judge snapped back up, pulling his cane out of his mouth. “Excuse me.”

God grimaced and glared at Day. “I hadn’t exactly told him yet.” He whispered but Judge heard him loud and clear.

“Told me what, God?” Judge stood. “And it better not be what I think it is.”

“Judge. I need this guy in custody and I need it done quietly. So I want one of my guys to go with -”

“Hell no.” Judge backed up. “I don’t need any help you know that.”

“He’s not gonna be there to help you, he’s there to keep things quiet.”

“You think I need a goddamn do-gooder-baby-sitter, telling me how to do my fuckin’ job?”

“You know damn well I’m not saying that. I need assurance that this will keep kept quiet and I also know you wouldn’t be bothered with giving me updates.

Judge scoffed. “Quiet. You think I haven’t heard of these two.” He pointed to the two men that were introduced as Ruxs and Green. Now that he had a face to go with the names he knew who to point to. “These guys are the epitome of loud noise and ruckus.”

“Because that’s their job.”

“Fuck no.” Judge growled.

“You owe me, goddamnit!” God stood and came around the table to square off with him.  Bookem stood and growled but didn’t attack. He’d never do that without command. God ignored the warning and stood directly in front of him. “Now, I’m asking for my favor. Are you going to refuse me, Judge?”

Son of a -. Judge gritted his teeth. God knew he’d never go back on his word. God gave him a few minutes to stew in his anger. All eyes were on him, waiting. Reluctantly he asked, “Who is he?”

“Detective Austin Michaels.” God replied. His voice and demeanor looked as if he was proud to present this guy.

Judge rolled his eyes when he saw Detective Michaels stand up. Of course it had to be him. The sexiest one of them all. Shit.  When the man came over to glare at him, Judge had to be sure not to show his surprise or amusement. The little fucker. Actually he wasn’t so little. He was tall and built. Compact muscles over smooth ivory skin. No doubt he was as macho and straight as an arrow, those kinds usually
