In the year 2081 our planet survived global warming of an apocalyptic scale. When the dust settled and the water receded Dr. Anthony Smith, one of only a few hundred survivors of GWI, started society anew. Having come to the conclusion that injudicious breeding played a huge role in the destruction of Earth as we knew it in the twenty first century, he worked closely with other survivors to isolate the Dionysus gene. This gene has the ability to manipulate human DNA to ensure that all male children be born gay, and all female children be born lesbians. A new society is born.

In the year 2300 Dr. Smith’s descendants are ushering in the twenty fourth century having maintained control of the government that still rules society. Twins Aiya and Aiyan are preparing to meet their matches and take control of House Gaeland, the current ruling House. But not everything is as it seems.

Love is Love.. it knows no gender and doesn’t conform to restrictions and boundaries. Aiyan has found his soul mate in Kaden, the prince of House Devi that he is matched with and eventually marries. But when the person Aiya falls in love with tests the boundaries put in place after GWI, all hell breaks loose. And in the midst of one secret unraveling, another will emerge. There is a growing anomaly that threatens to destroy over two hundred years of progression. This anomaly is known as Opposites.

Three gay couples run amuck in this short story where clothing, beds, even four walls are all optional!  Want to know what happened that night in the library? Cirian and Rian had a fight in the library and Rian ends up naked on the desk, on his back, at Cirian's mercy.  Want to know how far things went with ice cream? A romantic evening by the fire feeding his husband ice cream leads to a lot more than heavy petting for Aiyan and Kaden. Want to know what was going on when those birds fled? Travelling hundreds of miles, battling the rebels and then travelling back to House Gaeland will take it out of you. But when Tanis wants something, he takes it. Raven is about to be bent over a tree! A Note from the Author: I've taken three scenes from Opposites that were cut short and elaborated on the shenanigans that ensued. I also focused more in the beginning on the relationship between Cirian and Rian, to give readers a chance to know them and their inner workings better. I hope you enjoy this free read set in my world of Opposites! **Warning, The Library is a novella set in the same world as Opposites. It's an adult dystopian majorly M/M novel that includes consenting and explicit sexual relationships between gay, lesbian and straight couples**

4.5 Star Review

The youngest and one of the smallest of his malamute siblings, Chicago Niska is a computer genius with a knack for getting his virtual fingers into any system he wants. While trying to finagle his way out of one tricky situation he and his family are already in by getting information their leaders want, he stumbles across something that will bring the country, if not the world, to a crashing end.

Now if they can just get what he found to the right people without getting killed in the process.

On the run across the country to the Paranormal Parliament in the hopes of helping all supernatural kind, he and his older brothers don’t have many options for refuge when every law enforcement agency is after them. There’s only one group in the area that has the power and protection they need to shake the heat… And it’s the one place where there seems to be a great deal of history between two of his brothers and the one vouching for them.

But is the price for the help they need more than they’re willing to pay?

Family always comes first to Chicago, so he makes a deal with the devil, and a few vampires on the side, to get the help they need to survive the mission ahead. And after a night of passion and a fantasy come true, Chicago has allies he never dreamed of—one even willing to risk his life, joining their mission to spark a relationship with Chicago. There’s not time for love when you’re trying to save the world though… Is there?

Things never go as planned, and instead of finding the man of his dreams, Chicago realizes he might end up with a broken heart at the end of the journey. It seems silly to worry about that though

when millions of lives are at stake if they don’t get the information he found to the right people. Funny how Chicago can’t seem to focus on much else given it’s his first love and his family will probably live with Aurelo’s coven… If they’re still alive by the time they reach their leaders.

Flynn Eire's first Paranormal/Vampires book in the Shifting Reality Series......The Coming Storm!

While trying to get out of a sticky situation, he comes across something that will bring the world to a devastating end. His mission is to bring the information to the right people but that's if he's not killed in the process. Now on the run to the Paranormal Parliament (PP) he is trying to help all the paranormal kind but he and his male siblings don't have many choices to hide as the most ruthless government agencies are after them. The only ones that are willing to help Chicago and his family on their journey to save the world also have some history with his brother. Now one of his allies is willing to risk his life for Chicago and join their mission and he sparks a relationship with him. Chicago might be thinking that there's not enough time for love when trying to save the world but lets be honest as there is always time for love. He might think that he has found his true love but could this guy break Chicago's heart or will it be the other way around! It might not be the best time to fall in love when your trying to save your family and the world but the heart wants what the heart wants.

I have to mention this beautiful hot cover as I am a visual person and this great cover really attracts and pulls in the reader to The Coming Storm. I liked this first book in Flynn's new darker series and filled with betrayal and the possible end of the paranormal species. I loved the sex scenes as they were so hot and steamy and written in such a detailed way that I found myself wanting more and more of it. The way the MC was desired sexually by so many men and at times more than one at a time as that is my kind of sexy story. I enjoyed reading from the characters POV as the author kept it moving fast and on point through out the story. It was fun to read this fast paced story of the characters on the run and trying to beat the clock type of book. What I thought was very realistic and some people might have issues with Chicago liking one guy and wanting the sexual attraction from other men but it's a true depiction of the lifestyle and he is young and coming into his own sexual freedom. This novel The Coming Storm by Flynn Eire is for anyone who likes to read about paranormal, cute guys, betrayal, love, drama, intrigue and the chase to solve the world!

Flynn has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal—ignoring the nuns at her grammar school who thought her a demon worshiper. Her outward appearance and personality doesn't exactly fall in line with her twisted humor either, and Flynn gets a kick out of people's initial reaction to how "normal" she is. So, after publishing over 100 titles under various names, it is finally time to unleash the evil twin, allowing Flynn the freedom to pursue the darker side of her imagination.

The Coming Storm (Shifting Reality #1):

“What the fuck happened, Chicago?” Phoenix asked me again. I glanced at Seattle. He’d told me not to tell anyone what I’d found. “This was supposed to be a simple snatch and download. You promised us you could do this, baby brother. Now you’ve fucked us with the PP and the NSA. It was bad enough that the PP were pissed at us before, but if they find out about this, we’re dead—if the humans don’t kill us first.”

“It’s not my fault!” I heard a loud crash behind us after Boston fired his gun a few more times. His leg twitched as a signal to get off him, and I darted back into my seat, clicking my belt in place just in time so I didn’t go flying when Seattle once again took a corner too fast.

As he did I caught a glimpse of the dirty underpass with garbage cans off to the side that looked as if people had been using them to light fires in to keep warm. Prior to Boston rolling back up his window and as Seattle made another turn onto the on ramp, an acidic, nasty scent hit my nose and I winced when I realized it was old piss. Sometimes having an advanced sense of smell wasn’t the best thing. But if bums were living beneath that underpass, yeah, made sense they’d go there too.

“What did you find that Seattle had us immediately destroy anything that could be traced?” Milwaukee asked loudly, the noise from losing the back window and the vehicles still after us deafening. “We all just got new phones and you know how cheap he is. He wouldn’t have us smash and leave them unless he knew someone would be looking.”

“Wait, so you didn’t screw up?” Boston shouted, glancing back at me with his head tilted to the side before searching my face as if it would hold the answers he wanted.

“No, baby bro might have just saved the lives of every paranormal in the world,” Seattle said proudly. “If we can live to get it to the PP.”

“You want to go to Washington, DC, to see the Paranormal Parliament who is pissed at us and will want our heads after they hear about this?” Boston’s eyes were practically bugging out of his head as he stared at Seattle. When our eldest brother just nodded, he let out a litany of cuss words. “What the hell did you find out, Chicago?”

I swallowed loudly before meeting Seattle’s eyes in the rearview mirror again. “That we’re all very fucked.” And that’s when another bullet hit the SUV… And one of my brothers shouted in pain.

Whirlwind Revolution (Shifting Reality #2):

“Hadley, the PP was in on the plot,” Director Woodrow informed me. I felt my eyes practically bug out of my head at the news. “I know. I wish my suspicions hadn’t been correct, but they were, and now I’m glad I pressed for the malamutes to leave copies with us. I’ve talked with Director Fabian, and we have a place with their coven since we need to relocate and they have the perfect set-up.”

I had to swallow twice to clear the lump in my throat before I could speak. “What do you need me to do, Director?”

“Fly.” I nodded as he handed me a USB drive. “I’m tasking you with the Prince of the felines. Their elder is also their King and they haven’t ever been led by someone who wasn’t of the royal family. They’ll fall into chaos if something happens to him.”

I didn’t think my eyes could get any wider than at the implication. “Someone’s taking over the PP?”

“They sold us out and were setting us up like slaughter animals instead of doing what they promised for their people. I don’t know the details, but yeah, someone will take the traitors out.”

I realized I truly didn’t feel bad about that. They brought it on themselves. “Good. What about things here? Where do I go after?” Then I had another thought. “Is Chicago okay?”

He filled me in on the abbreviated plan, assuring me someone would pack my belongings and bring them. “Stay with the Prince and escort him along with his court to the new location. Do not divulge where they’re going until we know for sure all of them are on our side. The Prince will be, he hates his father. But the rest? We don’t know enough to take that chance. Once we’re at the stronghold, Director Fabian assures me it’s basically a fortress.

“And apparently Chicago is going to figure out how to hack missile guidance systems. But if the location is found out, the humans could start intercepting refugees on the way. We need him and his brothers. Director Fabian assured me they’re being detained but with whatever’s going on, they’ll get out first.”

Well thank fuck for that. I’d been hoping for another taste of that sweet little shifter. Plus, I just liked the guy and his brothers. I didn’t want any of them hurt. “I understand, Director. I won’t fail.”

“I know, which is why I’m sending you.” I gave him a solemn nod and hurried to my room so I could undress before shifting.

Hey, I was wearing my favorite jeans and sneakers. I wanted those packed up and brought to my new home. Then I let the change flow over me, grabbed the plastic wrapped USB drive in my talon, and flew out the window.

There were perks to flying over driving. I could fly faster than natural owls being a shifter—twice as fast if I pushed it, capping out at over a hundred twenty miles per hour, so that made my travel time less than if I were driving.

However, that was exhausting.

However, I didn’t have to deal with traffic on any freeway.

However, I couldn’t bring much… Like clothes.

So, as everything in life, there were perks and drawbacks to both sides. It just wasn’t an option to drive with eyes and ears on us. As a snowy owl—yes, snowy no matter who called us snow owls—we could blend in with other animals and were harder to track.

But that didn’t make flying all the way to Louisiana any easier, and with the importance of my mission, I was scared to take many breaks or for too long. I did my best to try and take in the scenery as it raced by, but mostly it was blurry and just depressed me. There was a very good, very

dangerous, reason I had to fly so fast. Gods, I was ready to take a three day nap when I recognized the outlying of New Orleans.

Director Woodrow had shown me a map of Prince Folkvar’s compound so I could easily pick out his balcony. Rude? Yes, but now wasn’t the time to jump through the normal hoops and risk the answer being, he’s in a meeting.

When I landed on the ledge of his private terrace, I realized that was exactly what he was in.

“Yes, my Prince!” the gorgeous woman his cock was meeting in exclaimed. “Being with you is always so wondrous. The gifts the gods bestowed upon you are infinite.”

I wanted to roll my eyes at the dialogue. I saw every detail as an owl, though, and realized it was quite the performance on her part. When the Prince went to kiss her quiet, she pushed up her tits as an offering.

“Please, my Prince. I know how you love to feast on them and bring us both pleasure.”

The man growled and attacked them. It wasn’t seeing him take care of breasts that had me shivering—it was the growl.

I studied the Prince from behind, getting lost in the movements of his strong body. The muscles in his marble-hard back moved fluidly and drew attention to his athletic body. Swimmer-like, lean shoulders showed every flex and release of the power under his skin. I caught glimpses of his elegant neck as his longer blond hair with orange lowlights shifted with his exertion.

Not orange with blond highlights. No, that would be too common for a man this gorgeous. He was mostly blond with very natural orange lowlights that made his hair almost seem like fire as the light danced off it.

I moved lower, checking out his trim hips, strong legs, but still lean, sleek thighs. Damn, he had a well-formed body.

I wanted him. I wanted him bad.

Unavoidable Turbulence (Shifting Reality #3):

“Boston, how’s it hanging?” Mav asked as his way of greeting.

“It doesn’t hang when I get in a plane,” I answered, knowing his code question and answer all too well.

“Dude, where have you been? It’s been like forever. What can I do you for?”

“I need to confirm some airstrips with you, get more on the list, and rent every available plane you can get me.” I didn’t see any reason to beat around the bush.

“You airlifting Canada to Mexico?” he joked, even though worry leaked into his tone.

“Something like that. You heard about Moscow,” I hedged, realizing lots of people had stopped what they were doing to pay attention to me now. “You and I are smart enough to know that wasn’t really about terrorists or a terrorist attack.”

“No, way too organized for the government if it was a legit threat,” he agreed. “What are you saying, Boston? What’s coming?”

“For sure? I don’t know. But I’m getting the fuck off the grid and making sure all the people who have been good to me, or will be an asset in the days ahead, are coming with me. You feel me?” I thumbed my ear, waiting for what he was going to say and praying he didn’t ask for more specifics.

“Yeah, I hear you loud and clear. I’ll take the news and advice as a personal favor since I know you have other options when it comes to what you need now.”

Not actually since our other contact for getting in the air if we needed it secretly died because he was an old elder. I shrugged at Seattle. Mav didn’t need to know that.

“Shut it,” Seattle hissed when the room got too loud. “We need the map.”

“I made markers for you,” Phoenix offered, looking pale and sweaty.

Yeah, I felt the same. I took them with a nod of thanks and started marking the map with what Mav was telling me, relaying the planes we could have access to at each one for Seattle to take note.

“Boston, we’re friends but we’re not good enough friends I’m going to let this all go on credit,” Mav finished with.

“I’ve got that covered. I’m bringing the banker of the project,” I assured him, glancing at Samantha. She nodded and held up a note. Give me a dollar amount. I could do that.

Millions.

“You’re a fan of rocks, right?”

“Always,” Mav answered and I could practically hear the smile in his voice.

Misery Hailing Down (Shifting Reality #4):

I was easy. I was easy to get into bed, easygoing, easy to please, easy on the eyes—from what I’d heard—and just about any other form of easy. I didn’t like drama. I preferred to work hard, be happy, and just have fun.

But I wanted love. Sure, sure, we all do. That was part of being a person—craving it, wanting it and to belong.

Apparently they didn’t all have a target on them somewhere that just drew assholes to them.

“No, you’ll be dropping this whole Royal Guard nonsense, Konrad,” Olave informed me with a dismissive wave as we stepped off the plane to the stronghold.

“I’m sorry, what?” I whispered as I trailed after him, my heart dropping into my stomach. Talk about getting indigestion. A couple nights of hot sex and being fawned all over did not make me suddenly a doormat.

“You should be for questioning me, especially now,” he growled, adjusting his neck. “I ask for submission, Konrad. It’s not a difficult concept.”

“In bed,” I hissed as I grabbed his arm and tried to pull him off to the side. “That’s not the same as deciding my life for me.”

He narrowed his eyes at me as if I was a bug annoying him. “I know what’s best for both of us.”

He shrugged me off, and I froze there for several moments before hurrying to catch up when I heard my name.

“Yes, and Konrad Floriano’s things will be put in my room,” Olave was telling the vampire checking people in.

“No, no, they won’t,” I snarled as I joined them, slapping my hand on the table. “I will take whatever room my King has set up for me. I have no ties to the horses or this control freak who’s acting like we’re married or he owns me.”

“I told you not to question me and you have the gall to disrespect me!”

There was a loud crack in the room and it took me a moment to realize the sound had been made against my face… And I was flying through the air. I crashed into a pillar and slid down, blood already dripping down my head.

“Konrad, I’m so sorry,” Olave choked out as he was suddenly squatting in front of me.

I let my hands change to claws as I stared at him, trying to stay conscious. “You got that one for free because of the stress we’re all under. You touch me again and you’ll see how well trained I am. Fuck off, Olave. We’re done.”

“No, of course we’re not,” he argued even as he reached for me. I swiped at him, and he drew back his hand in time.

“What is going on here?” Abram bellowed as he pushed through the crowd. He did a double take when he saw me and started cussing up a storm.

“Don’t let Olave kidnap me to his room,” I mumbled. “He’s controlling and abusive.”

He slid his arms under me and picked me up. “I promise, buddy. I got you.”

“No, this is unacceptable. Konrad is mine and…”

I didn’t hear anything else after that. Abram wouldn’t let me end up chained in Olave’s closet or something. That was all I needed to know before I let the darkness take me.

I was fuzzy when I came back around. I heard medical machines but it was like whatever I’d been dreaming just wasn’t letting me go. And I was pretty sure they had drugged me.

I blinked at the lights and felt as if I were trying to see through plastic wrap. When I realized where I was, I groaned. Med bay was never where someone wanted to wake up… No matter how pristine everything was. My ears hurt from the excess noise, always so many people in there that one sound couldn’t be picked out, bouncing off all the metal surfaces.

When I could see clearly as to who was standing next to me, I winced. Yeah, who doesn’t want to wake to their pissed off King giving you the off with his head look?

“So, you’ve had some fun,” King Torrance drawled as Abram moved to the other side of me to help me sit up. “Go slow with the ice chips. It’s going to take you some time to heal.”

“Wait, why?” I croaked out but stopped from asking anything else when he narrowed his eyes at me.

“We will get your to health, but first we need to handle this diplomatic mess you’ve started,” he seethed. “Now, explain to me why I have dozens of witnesses saying that you verbally accosted Stallion Olave and changed your hand to a paw around him? I thought you liked him? Why start all this shit with the horses, Konrad?”

“I didn’t,” I whispered as my eyes filled with tears. Of course I couldn’t just be assaulted by the guy I was dating. It had to be an international incident. Fan-fucking-tastic.

Cameron Pierce didn't really know what to expect when the entire nightmare began days before his eighteenth birthday, but here he was, standing behind a large metal door waiting for it to open and grant his freedom. Nine years, eight months, two weeks, and five days of hell. Even though he had to stay in a designated halfway house for the next few months, at least he wouldn't have these bars or barbed wire fences to constantly remind him of his nightmare.

He fidgeted. In exchange for almost ten years of his life, the prison system gave him a hundred bucks for expenses during transfer, and a plain, standard-issue cardboard box containing his

personal items—a watch, ten bucks, and a pack of gum. Everything broken or useless, which pretty much mirrored his existence. He ditched the box and everything else then pocketed the cash.

The gears of the large metal door ground as they inched open. Cameron shifted his weight from foot to foot, waiting for just enough space to squeeze through the door. He looked over to the guard and concluded he'd be better off attempting to walk out of this prison with a little dignity. At the pace these doors opened, he figured he'd age another decade in the process. He closed his eyes and counted, begging for a little patience to come his way. He finally heard the grinding stop and opened his eyes.

There, in the middle of the empty parking lot, Sam leaned against a car with crossed arms and a smile.

Cameron groaned as he finally exited the prison gates.

Mr. Samuel Issacs, rehabilitation officer, also secretly campaigned for sainthood every chance he had. His job was to help a group of assigned inmates rejoin the world with others but his mission was to mentor them. Sam wanted to talk, help, and offer support. Cam, on the other hand, knew better than to open his mouth, and he damn sure wasn't going to risk Sam becoming some form of collateral damage.

Cam had learned that lesson the hard way.

"Hey, Sam," he said once he arrived where Sam was parked.

"Hey, Cam. I thought I'd give you a ride to the halfway house instead of having you take the bus," he said as he opened the passenger side door of the car.

Cameron waited, not sure if sitting in a car for hours with Saint Sam was a good idea.

"C'mon, Cam.  I can guarantee you the drive with me will be better than a busload of people coming back from Universal Studios with stinky feet and a crapload of gas."

Cameron groaned.

Sam laughed. "Besides, I already filled out the paperwork so you're stuck with me. Get in."

Cam didn't say a word. He climbed into the car, sat in the passenger seat, and then closed the car door.

"Buckle up, it's the law."

"Are you kidding me?"

"Nope, state of Florida, it's the law."

"Since when?"

"Just strap in so we can get out of here."

Cameron groaned again as he pulled the belt and clicked it in place. He hated the way it cut into his damn shoulder. Who knew what else had changed while he was in prison. Just another reminder of things he had missed. He shifted in his seat only to have his movement limited by the seat belt restraint.

Wonderful.

Here he was, finally out of prison, yet somehow still found a way to be constrained in a small enclosed area.  Hell, this was even smaller than the six-by-eight cell he’d called home for almost a decade.

How ironic.

Chase stalked forward another step, continuing to roll up his sleeves until they rested in the crease of his elbows. I couldn’t help but remember the feel of the dark, springy hair dusting his forearms. It had been crinkly and rough against my fingers. I licked my lips. Chase’s jaw tensed as if he was chewing on words. The sick feeling in my stomach said we were going to argue again. It wasn’t going to end well.

He shoved a hand through his hair, breathed out harshly through his nose, and rubbed his hand on his jaw. It rasped over the dark stubble, the noise loud in the silent room. I braced myself for his outburst. When the words fell from his lips, they dropped like bombs from a clear blue sky. I jerked back against the pillows.

“I’m sorry.”

It took nearly a full minute for my brain to process that Chase wasn’t yelling. He was apologizing. To me. The words were rough, but soft.

“W-what?” The word was all I could stutter out of my mouth.

He sighed, dropping heavily onto the bed. The movement jarred me a little, making the wound in my arm twinge. I winced and Chase grimaced.

“Shit, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I let you get hurt.”

I stared at his gorgeous, scarred face and didn’t know what the fuck to say. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out so I closed it again. Really, like I’d said at the hospital, the whole situation was my fault. Well, the part that wasn’t crazy Julia’s fault. But it was true that if I hadn’t been where I shouldn’t have been, it wouldn’t have mattered how nuts she was, she wouldn’t have been able to get her hands on me.

“It’s not your fault, Chase. You didn’t let me get hurt. I got myself into this mess.” I reached up with my right hand and gingerly touched the bandage. “It doesn’t even hurt that bad. I’ve gotten hurt worse on other jobs.” I chuckled, though the sound was more than a little strained. My heart was still running quick and heavy, even more now that Chase was so close. The weight of his body made the mattress dip down at the corner. It felt like I was slowly, inescapably sliding toward him.

Or maybe that was just my imagination.

Chase ran his fingers over the smooth fabric of the comforter beside my knee, and just that small movement made my mouth go dry. When he raised those blue eyes to my face, I froze.

“Did you mean what you said? At the hospital?” His voice had gone even softer, like velvet.

I’d said a lot of things at the hospital. Which thing in particular did he mean? I didn’t bother asking, because…I knew. I could still pretend, though.

“That it was my fault Julia managed to grab me? Yeah. I never should’ve left the apartment. It wasn’t your fault that I completely ignored Landon’s rules.” I shrugged my uninjured shoulder, my gaze sliding sideways so I wasn’t actually meeting Chase’s eyes. We both knew that hadn’t been what he’d meant. I was hoping he’d let it go, though.

But of course he wouldn’t. Chase Preston liked to needle me. He slid forward just a little bit, bringing him from the spot by my feet to up by my knees.

I continued, hoping he’d let it slide. “I mean, Julia was kind of crazy, but–”

“Not that,” he interrupted. His hand was still resting on the comforter, his pinky just touching the edge of my thigh. I tried to ignore it. But he still wanted an answer. His eyes were intent on my face.

I licked my lips, and tried for a lighthearted tone. “About your brother being an idiot? Oh, I definitely meant that.”

Chase snorted, which made my lips quirk upward. He shook his head. When he lifted his hand, I froze for just a moment. I thought, by the glitter in his bright-eyed gaze, that he had noticed my body getting hotter, but he didn’t say anything. He slid closer again, dropping his hand on the other side of my legs so that his thumb was now touching the outer edge of my right thigh. His hip pressed against my left thigh, just as it had in my fantasy, caging me in.

I felt the heat building in my blood and tried to ignore it. This close, I could see the stubble on his jaw and the circles under his eyes – darker than usual. I could smell the warm spice of him, headier now than before, mixed with the salty tang of his sweat. I wondered suddenly if this is how he smelled first thing in the morning if you woke up beside him.

I hastily shoved the resulting mental image away.

He shook his head again and leaned closer. “No. Although you’re right about that. But that’s not what I meant either.” Chase’s breath, scented with the bite of alcohol, wafted across my nose and lips.

If he moved any closer, we’d be kissing. I leaned back, pressing as hard as I could against the pillows Eli had just fluffed. I wished I’d put on something more than just a pair of boxers before getting into bed. My skin felt hot and hypersensitive. Even just the movement of air in the room made every hair prickle. Goosebumps raced up my arms.

Chase was watching my face, eyes still unreadable, waiting for my answer. But for once, I didn’t feel like giving him what he wanted. Maybe it was because I was still so goddamned embarrassed.

I cleared my throat. “I don’t know what you mean then.”

Those dark gullwing brows rose as Chase tilted his head to the side. “Oh, I think you do.” The tone made my hands curl into fists at my side.

Jesus, he was close. My eyes scanned the tiny area around me, then met Chase’s blue stare. “C-could you move back a little?”

“Answer the question.” He breathed the words against my lips.

I jerked back. “What question?” My voice strained on the ‘n,’ my throat tight. Chase’s right hand rose, hovering near the bandage before floating back down to rest on the bed.

He shifted, pressing closer. “Do you…really know me that well, Liam?”

My breath tangled in my lungs. “I-I don’t know! I don’t know anything! Can you please just back up? You’re too fucking close!” My voice was nearly panicked, my heart pulsing against my ribs, pumping triple time, apparently intent on pushing every drop of blood southward.

Chase backed up a little, lips twitching into a smile. “You’re so straightforward.” He shook his head, a lock of that black, silky hair sliding over his forehead. “How can you say what you’re thinking so easily?”

I squeezed the comforter between my fingers, unable to think of an answer. The truth was, I mostly just blurted things out around Chase because he overwhelmed me.

But I’d be damned if I’d admit that.

“I don’t know! I just… B-because…” I dropped my gaze to my lap, where the bunched blankets were the only thing keeping Chase from realizing how affected I was by his nearness and why I wasn’t thinking straight. “Because…”

Chase’s fingers on my chin silenced me. I lifted my face, startled at the touch. I opened my mouth to say… I don’t know what.

The kiss silenced me.

With Chase-Book 3 in The Chase Series by J.J. Scotts!

The sexy story of Chase and Liam continues in this third installment and I recommend that you read Books one and two in the series to fully understand the complex relationships between these men.

Liam was hired to act as the face of author Chase Preston. At the beginning he thought it was a great idea working for Chase but now things have taken a different turn. Liam is always trying to find more information about his employer and the real Chase and not the one he portrays to the world. Now he is wondering if the sexual high tensity attraction between them is real or just another game for Chase to put his employee through. Liam has many rules that he must abide to while working for Chase and one night he breaks them by following Chase. Liam follows him to a club that seems harmless, that is until he meets this crazy woman who knows exactly who he is. Now Liam is worried that his cover has been blown and what will the ramifications be. It looks like Liam has entered into a dangerous situation and will his good looks and charm be enough to save him from what is about to go down!

What I loved about this story and the previous two books is the slow build up of an emotional and sexual connection between these two sexy men. I loved how the author has developed these characters and the chemistry they face between them. Chase is at times a hard person to love but you know that it's just a wall he keeps up to protect himself from the outside world and it's up to Liam to tear that wall down with everything he has in him. Liam wakes up in The Four Seasons Hotel and realizes that he has been taken or kidnapped by the crazy bitch Julia from the club, and this is all due to Chases brother Felix .This is when all hell breaks loose. The author introduces a new character of Felix which is Chase's brother and trust me he is not as likable as some of the others but well written. I will not be giving away any spoilers as this book is too well done to ruin it for the readers.

J.J"s detailed writing about these fascinating characters is so beautifully done. I am so addicted to the beautiful writing of J.J. Scotts and how she takes us into such deep emotions of her story is simply amazing. The sex scenes needs to be addressed in a big way as they are so crazy hot and so well written that the build up to the scenes will set your ereader on fire. She doesn't use the typical and blatant sex terms that some authors use but a very sensual and high intensity love scenes that you will never want to end. I found myself rereading these scenes over and over as they were so beautifully written and filled with the most intense sexual connection between two hot men that I have read. I highly and I mean highly recommend J.J. Scotts books of The Chase Series.....With Chase! If you like reading about beautiful love, hot and sensual sex scenes, drama, intrigue, suspense and emotional build up, then this is the book for you!!!!

Book one in the Finding Home Series:

Thrown into another world where dangerous creatures live and rule, will Wesley stay and find love with a vampire, or will the terrors of an unknown realm have him running home?

On a camping trip in Louisiana, Wesley finds himself sucked down a hidden portal and thrown into another realm where he meets Remus, a warrior vampire. With the help of Remus, Wesley embarks on an adventure to find his way home, back to a world not filled with vampires and dragons and magic folk. Along his journey, the handsome vampire finds his way into Wesley’s heart. But will his love for Remus overcome his fears of the creatures that reign in this world?

Remus has never wanted a man before, but finds himself drawn to Wesley despite his denying efforts. He’s happy with his life as the commander of the vampires, and has had no interest in finding a mate. But after Wesley is kidnapped, Remus discovers his feelings for the man are stronger than he thought. Is he strong enough, though, to honour Wesley’s wish to return home, and let go of the man he loves?
Picture
Remus felt Wesley shift on the horse behind him. His arms wrapped around Remus’ waist were distracting. He wasn’t used to the warmth. It had been a long time since he’d been so close to a human. He had forgotten what it was like to feel the warmth of a woman’s skin against his. No. This is a man, not a woman.
Remus had only ever been with one human before—well, if you could call her human. He was sure the witch had some bit of humanity hiding in her somewhere. At least he really hoped she did.
We’ll find out soon enough.
His stomach muscles tensed under Wesley’s fingertips. The man’s warmth, his sweet honey smell and the feel of his body pressed against him put Remus on edge.
His fangs throbbed beneath his gums. The need to sink his teeth and cock into Wesley was becoming fervent. He hardened at just the thought of sliding his body against the other man. His fingers itched to run along every inch of Wesley’s warm skin. He desperately wanted to taste his mouth, his body…But Wesley was a man. How could Remus feel like this for another man? No other man—vampire or human—had ever made his body come to life like this.
Remus’ eyes shifted and everything around him became vibrant. That always happened when his emotions surged—anger, anguish, pain, bliss, desire, passion—his pupils would narrow into slits, sharpening his vision. He didn’t know why it happened. He’d never met another vampire who had the capability. Keddrick had told him it was why he’d picked Remus to be the Commander—because he saw things more clearly than others. Right now, all he saw was Wesley laid out before him, ready to be taken in every way possible…and Remus wanted to take him.
Remus shook his head. He had to clear his mind. Such thoughts were sure to drive him mad.
His fangs had elongated and were poking his bottom lip. His stomach cramped and there was a slight burn in his chest. That explains it. It had been days since he had last fed—he just needed blood…and sex. Remus mentally cursed to himself as he pushed his palm against his groin, willing his erection to calm down.
Wesley shifted behind him again.
“Are you okay back there?” Remus asked.
“Yeah, I’m okay,” Wesley said as he moved some more. “It’s just, I’ve never ridden a horse before and I keep sliding to the right.”
“Tighten your legs. Use them to grip the horse.”
“I’m trying, but my legs aren’t that strong, I still keep sliding. Haven’t you people ever heard of a saddle?”
“A what?”
“A saddle, you know, the thingy that goes over the horse and you sit on it?”
“Thingy?”
Wesley huffed behind him. “Never mind,” he said, sounding frustrated as he fidgeted again.
Remus sighed and released the reins. He reached back and hooked his hands behind Wesley’s knees, pulling the man closer to him.
The feel of warm breath panting against the back of his neck made him pause. He caressed Wesley’s legs, wishing the pesky material of Wesley’s pants to be gone. He lightly traced a path along the smooth curves of his knees with his fingertips. Wesley’s grip tightened around his waist and Remus pulled his hands away.
What the hell am I doing?
Taking the reins again, he cleared his throat then asked, “Is that better?”
“Yes,” Wesley whispered.
Wesley’s arms loosened around his waist, but Remus could still feel the man’s chest brush against his back as he took in a deep breath.
He needed to think about something else—anything else—anything other than the feelings pulsing through his body and the thoughts of pulling the little man astride his lap and ravishing him there and then.
Picture
Pavarus is the first book in the series...Finding Home by Jennifer Wright!

Wesley was immersed into a world of dangerous creatures that reside. Now he must decide to either stay and try to survive and possibly find love with a vampire but will the terror of this realm make him run for his life. Remus a warrior vampire meets the beautiful Wesley who has been thrown into his hidden realm. With the guided help of Remus, now Wesley is trying to find the way back to a place that has no vampires and deadly creatures. Along the journey, Wesley starts having feelings for the beautiful and sexy vampire but will his love for him be enough to survive this new world of danger!

Remus is very happy with his life and not even looking for a man or a mate as he is very content as the commander of the vampires. Something in Wesley wakes up feelings in Remus that he thought were long gone and no longer apart of his life. Once Wesley disappears, Remus now realizes how much this the beautiful man means to him. Now Remus must choose between his desires and love for Wesley or to let him return home and never see Wesley again.

I loved how Remus protected Wesley from the entire coven once he cuts his finger as the other vampires are out for the sweet scent of blood that drips from Wesley and even Remus is having a hard time resist. So now it's up to Remus to claim Wesley as his mate in order to save him from being devoured by the blood thirsty coven. Wesley is shocked that he has done this as now they're connected forever and for a vampire that is a very long time. Once Wesley is kidnapped and nearly raped and left for dead, both men now realize that they have fallen in love. Will their love be enough to survive the blood thirsty enemies?

I so enjoyed the writing style of the author, Jennifer Wright very much and the unique world she created with vampires, dragons and all the creepy creatures in her realm. Her detailed writing of the characters was so spot on that I felt that I knew them. She really knows how to set the stage for high intensity scenes with beautiful men and the love between Wesley and Remus was so beautifully written that the reader will want more and more of these men. The great news is that the author sets up the stage for the next book and I for one can't wait. I highly recommend this novel, Pavarus by Jennifer Wright for anyone who loves reading about vampires, danger, hot men, blood thirsty creatures and beautiful man on man love!!!!

What will happen to the wedding of the century in Mesa Rojo when Hunter and Ethan are forced to babysit a mobster, deal with the homophobic father of the groomsman, and overcome their own cold feet? Sparks!

Hunter and Ethan are back in the third and final installment of the Honky Tonk Trilogy. In this story we revisit Westmore Ranch where Hunter is forced to have a man stay on the ranch who is a member of a west coast crime family. This man, Troy Castor, sets his sights on damaged Drew behind Reggie’s back. In steps Ethan to save the day but with heavy consequences.

The wedding is not going as planned as Reggie’s father blames Hunter for “corrupting his only son into homosexuality”. He starts rumors, causing the vendors to run for cover to avoid being in the middle of a war between the two largest cattlemen in the area. This and their own insecurities about being a man the other deserves has them both worried if they are even ready to commit for a lifetime.

When the day finally comes bullets fly. With the bullets come revelations, tears and new dreams to reach for but will Hunter and Ethan be the ones reaching for them together or will one have to set out on his own?

Picture
The drive to the bunkhouse was quiet…mostly. Hunter figured out pretty fast that Troy Castor didn’t like being ignored. “So a gay rancher huh? Bet that’s real popular out here in Texas or wherever the hell we are.”

Oh God, what a tool. “New Mexico.”

Troy laughed. “Man of few words. I like that.” He looked out of the window and then back at Hunter. “Is this a gay ranch? You hire the lonely gay guys?”

Why the fuck did his father have to build the house so far away from the actual ranch? “I hire people that work.”

“Well as long as some are eye candy I might not hate it here.”

Hunter pulled the truck over and turned to glare at Troy Castor. “This is a working ranch. We work cattle here. There is no eye candy, no hitting on the hands and no fucking around with them. You will keep your head low, do the work, keep your mouth shut as to who you really are and when it’s time get the fuck out with as little muss or fuss as possible.” Hunter started to turn back to the steering wheel then thought of one more thing, possibly the most important thing. “If you even look at Ethan again Dante won’t need to find you. I will squeeze your head off your shoulders and feed it to the fucking hogs.”

So what if they didn’t have pigs on the ranch? Castor didn’t know that.

Troy’s eyes were narrowed but he nodded. “Noted.”

“Fine.”

By the time they got to the bunkhouse Hunter could feel the hatred coming off of the man but he didn’t care. It wasn’t like he wanted to be fast friends with the fuck anyway. He got out and showed Troy through the dining hall.

“Breakfast is at six, unless otherwise posted. Coffee’s always on and there will be nights that it’s your job to put it on. I don’t have a 24 hour cook.”

Without waiting for a response Hunter led him into the lounge where the television, a pool table and library was. There were a few of the guys sitting around the room, two playing pool. “Everyone this is the new hand Troy. Troy this is Billy, Rip, Turner, Danny and Pete. Over there fixing the toaster oven is Carl.”

Troy smirked, gave a wave and said, “Howdy!”

Rolling his eyes Hunter pointed to the hall where the rooms were while the others just stared at the two of them. Down the hall, the third door on the left Hunter knocked. When there was no answer he opened the door and saw the two unmade beds. “Here’s where you’ll sleep. It’s the only room with no roommate. I don’t want anyone stuck with you.”

Troy’s emerald eyes twinkled with humor. “Sure thing Hoss.”

“The name is Hunter.”

Rain Carrington started writing when she was just a teenager in Trinidad, Colorado but didn’t start writing M/M romance until much later. Through the years many of her gay male friends told stories of heartache and the struggle to find “the one” so she told them stories, fantasies all about them and their future cowboy, fireman, biker or policeman. When she found a writing site that encouraged her to write them down she started what was an adventure like she never had before.

Her first story, Cabin fever, about a young man searching for love and finding it wrapped in a member of a mafia family gained her readers who cheered for more. She knew then that she had found her place in the world. To make stories of love and kink that not only her readers but she could get lost in as well.

Rain now lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado but has traveled most of the US. Her last road trip to San Francisco gave her characters still coming out…no pun intended…in her newer stories. Rain has severe scoliosis which makes it hard for her to do all the things she used to love but it did give her the time to write that she never had before. She fights for lgbt rights from her home as best she can now and keeps in close contact with her friends that fight on two good legs to point them where they should go. She is a fervent believer that one door never closes without another opening so there are no limits she can’t get past.

Of all the people in the world no one has encouraged and supported her like her friends, many of them writers themselves, and her family. There is never a dull moment in her home where laughter is in the air 24/7 and everyone knows to avoid the computer screen when she sits in front of it. They never know what kind of beautiful man love they may see. Rain calls it research, they call it, “there she goes again!”

Her latest book, Rebel Yells is getting great reviews and she is currently working on the sequel, Penny’s Lane.

PRAY THE GAY AWAY

He heard voices filtering down the hall from his dad's office and he sighed. There was no way he could get around this. Squaring his shoulders, he marched through the door, only to come up short when he spied the beautiful guy sitting beside a short, thin woman and an older man, closer to sixty or seventy.

"Oh, there he is. We were beginning to wonder what was holding you up." His dad came over and gave him a hug. To the other people in the room it probably looked like he was a loving father, but the painful squeeze his dad gave his arm told the true story. His dad was angry.

The older gentleman stood and so did the lady. The boy slowly got to his feet and Jack got his first good look at him. He was tall but skinny. He had some muscles that bunched on his arm when he clenched his fists, but he lacked bulk. The guy's pants were lose, and only held up by the army green belt cinched around his waist. The clenching of his fist and slight frown went unnoticed by everyone but Jack. His lips were dark red, not pink, or pale at all, but very dark and they stuck out in a slight pout. Jack wondered what it would be like to kiss that mouth. Then there were his eyes. Sunken, like his cheeks, the deep blue pools of wariness stared out at Jack. Jack wished he could go to the guy and wrap his arms around him, telling him that everything would be okay. But this was backwoods Georgia and it wouldn’t be okay if he did any of what he wanted to with this guy.

"Son, this is Andrew. His father, Aaron, and his wife, Nancy, just moved to town. They contacted me and wanted to make sure their son would fit in here."

Jack stopped staring at Andrew long enough to make eye contact with his father. Surely even he knew Andrew was gay. But Jack wouldn’t say a thing, not to his father or anyone else.

Aaron shook Jack's hand, grasping it firmly. "Thank you so much, Pastor Miller. I know my son will do well with a mentor like Jack. He's a man's man if I ever saw one."

Warning bells went off in Jack's head. There was something wrong with Andrew's family. Andrew didn't seem happy at all, but his dad and mom seemed way too excited.

"Son, why don't you show Andrew around?"

"Sure. Is it okay if we leave the church property?" Jack noticed the worried look on Aaron and Nancy's face so he quickly added. "I'm starving because of practice. I can bring him home later."

Nancy looked to Jack's dad and lifted a brow. "If' it's okay with you."

"Sure, I think that would be great. It will give Jack a chance to introduce Andrew to the right type of people."

Goose bumps broke out over Jack's body, and he suppressed a shiver. It seemed like everything was all sorts of wrong with the situation, but he sure as hell didn't want to stay in his dad's office with Andrew's parents constantly looking over their shoulder.

Before they could escape the office, Andrew's dad patted his son's back, looking more uncomfortable than a neophyte taking honey from a bee's nest. Aaron showed more affection toward Jack than he did his own son.

Jack blew it off, hoping that maybe it was different than he was thinking. His judgment could be clouded since he needed food. If he had to drag Andrew along with him, then so be it. Actually, it wasn't any chore to take the guy with him. They strolled out of the church offices and into the main hall. The secretary wasn't at her desk and they didn't run in to anyone else on their way outside.

Jack opened the truck door for Andrew and realized it would probably look wrong to anyone watching so he stepped around the front of the truck and got in. Andrew didn't say anything as he strapped in. Jack ignored him until they had pulled out of the church parking lot.

"Is McDonalds okay?"

"I'll just stay in the truck, you really don't have to bother yourself with me. I'll tell my parents you were nice and showed me around."

"Hey, I wouldn’t do that. Seriously, I'm starving and I want to get to know you."

"Why? You're obviously prime rib here, and I'll just be the sad charity case that everyone makes fun of."

At the stop sign, Jack rolled to a stop, finding that no one was on the road with them. "I'm not like that. I give everyone a fair shake."

"Right. The only reason you're with me right now is because your father made you do it. I heard my parents talking to him."

He was still staring at Andrew when he heard a car roll up behind him. He took his foot off the brake and moved through the intersection. "Fine, I only came by because my daddy made me. But if I saw you, I'd—never mind."

"What?"

"Nothing. Just don't assume."

SENDING JACK OFF TO JESUS

He and Andrew hadn't been able to talk much. They'd exchanged glances between classes and a few words at practice, but they hadn't touched. His life was so much dimmer without Andrew. He did know that Andrew was still with the Kemps, but that could change when the hearing took place in the middle of the month. Aaron and Nancy were taking all the right steps to get their child back, but Jack doubted they'd change—not really, and never to the point of actually accepting Andrew as a gay man.

On Friday, when the team loaded on the bus, he was excited to see Andrew sitting with the other water boys and trainers. Since he was captain and expected to lead the team, he couldn’t sit with Andrew on the way to the game. He had to focus and make sure his guys focused too. The school had rented them a nice bus for the two-hour drive for the first play-off game. On the ride there, he imagined riding out of Sweet in a bus like this, moving somewhere he and Andrew would be accepted and could show their love.

The energy was high on the field. Every time before the snap, Jack glanced to the sidelines, spying Andrew. That kept his head in the game and his mind on winning for his future. Jack easily connected with his receivers, passing enough yards to earn a record. The team they were up against was good, but not good enough. At the end of the game, he hugged everyone, including Andrew. Having his arms around his boyfriend was amazing. He didn't care that they were being watched, or that he couldn't kiss Andrew, just being with him was a relief.

"Save me a seat on the bus. I need to touch you," Jack said as they clung to each other.

Andrew stepped back because people were pulling at Jack, seeking his attention to congratulate him. Andrew nodded and the corners of his lips turned up in a smile. It would be okay if they could touch. He missed that most of all. If he were lucky, he'd be able to hold Andrew's hand. The desire to sneak a kiss was strong, but it would probably be too much.

The team celebrated in the locker room with sandwiches and cookies made by the booster club. Over and over again, Jack's gaze sought out Andrew, taking pleasure in the guy's smile. He and Mike had called a truce, and though Andrew still looked a little hesitant around him they seemed to be getting along. Ed was his normal boisterous self. It was funny that Ed had become such good friends with Andrew. They looked odd standing next to each other with Ed being so big, and Andrew so skinny. Ed said something and Andrew doubled over laughing. Jack made his way closer and Ed called out to him.

"Come here, Jack. You have to hear this."

It was his opportunity to sit by Andrew. When he was only a few feet away from Andrew, their gazes connected and a chill swept over him. He shivered and Ed shot him a strange look.

"You cold?"

"No, I'm fine."

"Okay, so I was telling Andrew about my cat and dog. They both hate when my dad brings out his grinder. The other night, he needed to sharpen a few tools so he brought it out. Both the dog and the cat ran to the back bedroom and crawled under the bed. After an hour my dad was finished, but we couldn't find the dog or the cat. I went looking for them. They'd wound up trapped in the closet, wrapped in a laundry bag that somehow got closed. The dog was crying and the cat was snuggled up underneath him. Anyway, I open the bag to set them free. The dog wouldn't come out. Apparently, he liked being so close to the damn cat that he wanted to stay. He wasn't crying, we figured out later that the cat was licking the dog's underarm and he was laughing or something like that."

Jack chuckled, but he was too distracted by Andrew to really laugh. He moved to stand behind Andrew, resting his hand on his boyfriend's shoulder. It felt like home. Being connected to Andrew calmed him. This, not anything else, was right. He had no doubt in his mind that him being gay was exactly how he was supposed to be. No scripture or prayer would change the truth.

"Hey, you played a great game tonight." Andrew's voice was music to his ears.

Andrew tilted his head back, exposing his neck to Jack. A rush of desire filled him and he felt his dick begin to harden. After showering, he'd slipped on a pair of jeans and tight underwear so he wasn't in loose shorts, which would have tented, exposing his desire. Jack wasn't too worried about his wood showing, but one of the guys would notice the way he was staring at Andrew if he wasn't careful.

"Thanks. Hey, I haven't talked to you much this last week. I'll sit by you on the bus ride home, we can catch up." Jack couldn’t believe that he'd said that in front of the other guys. He'd planned on just wandering back to Andrew, hopefully finding the seat next to him still empty since he'd asked Andrew to save it. Now, he had claimed the space, giving him access to his boyfriend.

MY BIG FAT SOUTHERN GAY WEDDING

Chapter 1

Andrew's old house loomed in front of Jack. Months had slid past since he'd last seen Andrew or heard anything about him. That night was still fresh in his mind, but the memories were starting to fade, leaving him aching to hold Andrew once more. Where had his boyfriend gone?

Spring break gave him the time to investigate so he'd driven back to Sweet, determined to find a trail and follow it. He still hadn't dropped by his father's house, the place he used to think of as home. It would be too weird to go there and have to see his father.

He shivered just thinking about the hell he'd been through. Months had passed since his mother rescued him from that god-awful place. Hamilton and Gartner were in jail as they should be. It wasn't just the terrible treatment Jack had received that had placed them there either. An investigation by police and the FBI uncovered years of abuses, thefts, tax evasion, and a long list of other crimes that put both men, along with almost all of the other workers from that camp, away for a long time.

At one point, he'd thought he would have to testify, but the evidence against the camp workers was so huge they each took a plea bargain. They probably would have received more jail time if they'd gone to court, but Jack was relieved he could put that period of his life behind him and move on. When he'd received the news two weeks ago from the district attorney, he'd cried. His mom had been happy too. She told him later that she'd been afraid for him.

Football had fallen into place after he got up the nerve to place a call. At first he'd been scared to talk to the coach at Auburn. Switching schools like he had wasn't a mark in his favor. The coach had been very understanding when Jack told him a bit of what had happened. Jack explained that his mother had moved them to Alabama, and that he'd had no choice in the matter. A few days after the call, Jack was offered a scholarship. It wasn't a full ride, but it was close. Another scholarship he received for good grades would cover the rest of his expenses as long as he lived lean.

Going to a new school was tough. New Life had matured him, but not in the way they'd intended. Being a prisoner at the camp had forced him to lose the last of his innocence. He saw the world differently now. No longer a child, he wanted his freedom, but at school they still considered him to be a kid. Add to the fact that he was new, and the experience was awful. The other students didn't know what to make of him. They ignored him or made fun of him. He wasn't popular and no one seemed to want to give him a chance. They didn't even know that his parents were divorcing, and that he'd been through hell. He could only imagine the teasing if they found out the truth. If college and football weren't important to him, he would have dropped out.

With only nine weeks left in high school, he needed to find Andrew. It's why he'd taken off on Friday afternoon only minutes after the final bell rang before spring break. He'd driven the three and a half hours without stopping, arriving in Sweet about an hour before the sun set.

Driving down the streets of Sweet was odd. There were so many memories, some good, some bad. Every bit of the life he remembered had been spent in Sweet. So many things had happened here, but it was the memories of him and Andrew that were the strongest.

When he pulled up at Andrew's house, he'd hoped to find some sign that Andrew's parents were still around, but it looked like they were gone. Leaves were scattered across the walk and the grass had begun to grow thick, looking scraggly under the pine and oak trees. Weeds had sprung up, giving the lot an unkempt feel.

Jack had been sitting in his truck at the curb across the street for almost ten minutes. The cab of his truck had grown warm and a sheen of sweat had formed on his skin. When he opened the door a cool breeze raked across his body, chilling him. He stared at the house, thinking about the last time he'd seen Andrew. That night had been so sweet and amazing. They'd spent hours under the stars, holding each other tight as they made love. If only he could go back to that day, he'd take Andrew away, never returning to their parents' houses. They'd get lost somewhere in America and make a home of their own. Andrew had been right; they didn't need nice things, only each other.

Jack made his way up the walk to the front door. He knocked wanting to make sure the place was empty before he went around to the back. The street was deserted so he stood on the porch for about a minute before he knocked again, this time harder. The door remained closed and the house quiet. Jack looked in the front window then made his way around the side of the house and into the backyard, stopping to look in a side window. No one was home.

The Normal Heart Movie!!!! May 25, 2014!!!

Is it too early to predict the Emmy nominees? Ryan Murphy’s loooong-awaited film adaptation of The Normal Heart, one of the two or three great American plays about the impact of the AIDS epidemic, is likely to receive a lion’s share when they’re announced in July. HBO has just released a full-length trailer for its celluloid version of Larry Kramer’s devastating (and somewhat autobiographical) 1985 play which will premiere on the premium cable channel May 25 and it’s the most powerful 1:30 minutes of video we’ve watched all week.

It all begins on a happy note in 1981 with Mark Ruffalo, Jonathan Groff, Taylor Kitsch and pals convening on Fire Island for what appears to be a memorable party weekend. Then Groff begins to cough and drops to his knees on the beach as the water rushes in, symbolizing that AIDS has just entered the lives of this close group of friends.

Ruffalo stars as Ned Weeks, the Kramer-esque protagonist, a man who refuses to remain silent as he and his friends become stricken with this mysterious and, in many cases, fatal new illness. Julia Roberts makes a rare small screen appearance as Emma Brookner, a wheelchair-bound doctor, who has an exchange of dialogue that Ruffalo that succinctly sums of the impact of both Kramer and his landmark play:

“Where’s this big mouth I hear you’ve got?” Brookner asks.

“Is big mouth a symptom?” Weeks questions back.

“No, it’s a cure,” she offers.

Powerful stuff, right? The Normal Heart also features a stellar supporting cast with many openly gay actors, including Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Denis O’Hare and Joe Mantello.
