Title: Broken Soldier
Author: Jamie Lynn Miller
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: March 5, 2016
Sergeant Connor Finley and Sergeant Shawn Weller are dedicated soldiers working covert ops for Shadow Unit -- a joint UK/US anti-terrorism task force.
Partners in the field and out, they had been through hell together for the last four years and made it through standing side by side. But when their latest undercover op to bring down an arms dealer plunges them into a world of drugs, sex and violence, Shawn must literally get in bed with the enemy in order to complete the mission. And Connor is forced to watch, helpless, as his partner is broken into pieces. Will love be enough to put them both back together or will this be their final mission? WARNING: Contains scenes of drug use, graphic sex and realistic situations.
Picture
This was quite a hard book to read, mainly due to what Shawn went through while on the undercover mission.  You also really felt for Connor who had to sit and watch what was happening, but knowing he could do nothing about it.  You realise the two men love each other, but neither has actually said that to the other. They both come across as the strong silent types.

Shawn and Connor were partners within the Shadow Unit, but also partners in life – although nobody they worked with knew.  They know each other so well, and seem to have a special close bond between them.  However, things change on their latest undercover op, as Shawn has to get up close and personal with the main target of their mission.  Shawn has to put all his feelings for Connor aside, to enable him to be bedded by his target, but he is also having to take drugs during this time, and although he doesn’t like it has to do it to keep his cover.

To me, it was hard to read Shawn taking the drugs, but you could understand why he was doing so but you also knew that he hated every minute of this operation.  You would also take visits down memory lane with Shawn when he was being bedded by the main target, so he could think of Connor and not react and push the man away. To me, it came across as Shawn thinking he was now dirty to Connor, but thinking of Connor was the only thing to keep him going.

Connor is watching from the side-lines, and hates what he sees happening to Shawn, but he cannot intervene as they are so close to completing the mission.  Connor and Shawn spend a night together when they think it will be safe, but someone working for the target sees them and then it is a race against time for Connor and the rest of the team, to get in to save Shawn who has been outed.

Can Connor manage to arrive in time to save Shawn?  Does Shawn actually want Connor to save him, or is he so unstable now that he feels death would be the better release?  Can the love that Connor feels for Shawn survive what has happened?

Although I have said it was a hard book to read, I must say that I couldn't put it down. I just had to keep reading to find out what happened to Connor and Shawn.
Connor cut himself off as Shawn let out an angry yell and swung a wild punch at him. Connor was forced to release Shawn’s wrist to avoid his partner’s fist, which would have caught him right in the face. He stumbled back a step, hitting the refrigerator, nearly losing his footing on the items strewn about on the floor. Just as he straightened up, Shawn grabbed a coffee mug off the counter and hurled it at Connor’s head. Connor dropped to a crouch and the mug smashed into the refrigerator.
Keeping low, Connor went at Shawn like an American football player, ducking under his partner’s arms and catching him around his middle. Shawn’s back hit the edge of the counter and both of them slid to the floor. Shawn’s fists began pummeling at Connor’s arms and chest as Connor got Shawn first onto his back then flipped over onto his stomach, straddling his waist. Shawn tried to buck him off, yelling angrily and Connor was amazed at the strength the desperate craving for the heroin gave him.
“Please, Connor, please,” Shawn pleaded with him, breathing hard. “I just need a little bit. Just a little and I’ll be fine…”
Connor quickly pulled the syringe out of his pocket and used his mouth to pull off the cap, which he spit out onto the floor.
He swallowed hard. “I’m so sorry, mate,” he said, voice rough, then injected Shawn with the sedative.
“I need it, Connor, I need it…” Shawn mumbled as his eyes closed moments later, succumbing to the effects of the sedative.
Connor slid off of Shawn’s body then, slumping against the counter next to him, his face in his hands, gutted to the core by what had just transpired. A lump formed in his throat as he lifted his head and looked at his partner, lying there unconscious. Shawn’s face was drawn, flushed and wet with sweat, battered and bruised with dark circles under his eyes that had looked at him with such pain and desperation.
Shawn was the strongest, bravest man Connor had ever known, now reduced to this broken soldier before him.
All because of duty and loyalty to his unit and his mission. For the first time Connor feared that Shawn had been shattered into too many pieces to ever be put back together again.
His chest constricted at the thought, the grief and anger inside him suddenly too much to contain any longer. He grabbed for Shawn’s hand and held on tight as he broke down, the first sob tearing through him. He cried for Shawn, who was fighting a battle he might not be able to win and he cried for the two of them, wondering how they’d survive if Shawn didn’t.
He cried until there was nothing left inside him, until his eyes ran dry and his throat burned. He gathered Shawn into his arms then and held him tight, wishing he could take his place, but instead willing every ounce of strength he had into him, the only thing he could do.

Book Name: Tangling With Bears

Series: The Cloverleah Pack

Book: Eight

Can be read as a standalone

Release Date: March, 2016

Blurb: </>

Tobias tells himself he's having fun. He has a great life as a beta in the Cloverleah Pack, and while danger still threatens the pack, he has his friend's wedding to look forward to, and the pleasures that come from hookups in random places. He'd like to meet his mate, just so he's not the odd one out in the inner circle, but it's not something he's expecting anytime soon. So when a hookup just before the wedding leaves Tobias with a permanent scar, he wonders where the heck his life went wrong. Especially when the man responsible for the wicked set of tooth marks, disappeared after the deed was done, to ring a man called Kurt.

Kurt and Luke have been mated for three years. As bear shifters, Kurt has known from puberty that he will have two mates and once he'd claimed Luke, his mama warned him to be on the look out for a human female. So when Luke rings him and lets him know he might have accidentally on purpose bitten a wolf shifter, from some town they'd never heard of, Kurt heads to Cloverleah to sort out the mess.

Sorting out their mating is just one of the things the three men have to contend with. A magic user has stepped up his game and nowhere on pack lands seems safe. When Tobias gets taken, Kurt and Luke are helpless to do anything about it. It's going to take the power of the pack before life will be safe again, for any of them.

Warning: Contains scenes of M/M and M/M/M sex. It also contains a special kind of bear, his grumpy mate, and a wolf that just wants to be loved. HEA and no cheating guaranteed.

While this book can be read as standalone, you will understand more about the secondary characters in the book, if you have read the others in the series.

This is the first book in this series I have read, and it didn't cause me a problem not having read the rest of the series - however, I am going to get the rest of the series so I can see how all the others came together.

Luke is a special bear shifter. Special in the way that he was shunned by his family as he was "different" to the rest of them.  His home life was very bad to say the least.  He is now happy with Kurt, with whom he is mated, but they are looking for their third.

Kurt originally comes across as being quite the grouchy, unfeeling person - except when it comes to Luke - and I have to be honest and say I wasn't sure I would like him.  However, he is so protective of Luke, and as you read the story you really understand why.

Tobias is a lonely wolf shifter, who like Luke was different, and his home life too was awful.  All he wants is someone to love him as he is, and so far hasn't managed to find anyone like that.  This isn't helped by the fact that he uses sex to get close to others, and now has quite the reputation.

Tobias and Luke meet in a truck stop shower, and Luke knows straight away that Tobias is his third mate, and before he can stop himself he joins Tobias in the shower and gives him the mating bite as they both orgasm.  Confusion then reigns as Luke keeps saying he has to tell Kurt, and Tobias believes that Luke has cheated on Kurt and wants nothing more to do with him, but also Tobias has no idea about the mating bite on his shoulder.  When Luke returns to the shower he finds Tobias has disappeared.

Kurt and Luke manage to find which pack that Tobias belongs to, and the three of them meet, but Kurt is still hesitant about accepting Tobias even though Luke has already tied them together.  Things get off to a rocky start, but slowly start to improve, until the day that Tobias disappears whilst on patrol.

Without Tobias to run interference, are Luke and Kurt able to make the rest of the pack understand they pose no threat to them?  Does the magic user have anything to do with the disappearance of Tobias? Are they able to rescue Tobias in time?  Can Luke persuade Kurt to accept Tobias as their third?  Are they able to solve the mystery of who the magic user is?
Excerpt:

“I’m too sexy for my shirt…” Kurt’s ring tone. Luke could hear the tinny tune, but it seemed like the sound was coming from outside. Leaping out of the truck, he glared at the trash can, now filled with his rubbish, before tipping the thing upside down, flailing his arms through the boxes and papers. There, on the ground. Thank the Fates. Luke sank his butt to the ground, tapping madly on the screen.

“Kurt, oh my god, Kurt….”

“Little bear, is everything okay? I sensed your distress. Are you hurt? Where are you?”

Luke breathed a sigh of relief, Kurt’s deep voice making the world seem like a more manageable place again. “I’m just outside of a tiny town, Cloverleah, I think it’s called. But Kurt, I found him, at least I think it was him, because I got hard, and he felt so good, and I just wanted to rub all over his sexy body, and when he came…”

“Luke. Stop. Focus.”

Focus. Kurt was right. Luke knew he had a tendency to run on about things.

“I’m sorry,” he said in a small voice.

“I’m not angry, little bear,” and Luke could tell that he wasn’t. Kurt never got angry with him, even that time when he thought he could microwave an entire jar full of honey so it would soften, and forgot that the jar had a metal lid.

“Now start again, from the beginning. You met someone who made your cock hard?”

Luke took in a deep breath, his cock hardening again. “Yes.”

“And then what happened?”

“He was in the shower, here at the truck stop. He was fondling his pretty cock, and his body was slim but muscled and the water was just streaming down, and my cock was so hard I thought it would burst out of my pants, so I took them off, because it hurt, you know. And I don’t think he heard me, but I just had to grab him, and then…”

“Breathe little bear.” Yeah, that probably would be a good idea. Luke took in a deep breath and let it out slowly.

“That’s good, babe, now, I presume you got in the shower with him.”

“Yes, but I took my clothes off first.” Luke remembered that Kurt wouldn’t like the idea of him wandering around wearing wet clothes. He did tend to forget things like that sometimes, especially if the salmon were running.

“That’s good, so then what happened? You grabbed him. Did you frighten him?”

“No!” Luke stared at the phone, wishing Kurt could see his face. He never intentionally frightened anyone, except that one time, and that was the night Kurt came and saved him…

“Don’t let your mind wander.” Kurt knew him so well.

“I didn’t frighten him, he leaned on me, and he let me play with him, and his cock just fit in my hand, and he smelled so good, like honey and chocolate all melted together even with the bleach stink, and I couldn’t help myself, his ass was right there…”

“He let you have sex with him?”

“I didn’t want to do that without you there. I just rubbed on him lots, and with the water and the smell, and when his cock spurted out…”

“I get the picture, little bear and it’s all right.”

“So he must be our mate, right?” Kurt wasn’t upset with him, that was the main thing.

“You would’ve gotten sick, and you definitely wouldn’t get a hard on with anyone else but our mate – I’ve told you that before. So yes, the man is our mate. Unexpected, but there’s no other explanation.” Kurt sounded so confident and Luke sighed and smiled, even though he knew Kurt couldn’t see him. Kurt knew about so much, and he would make sure everything was okay.

“Where is the man now and what’s his name?”

Oops. “I don’t know what his name is,” Luke yelled as he leaped up, leaving the rubbish on the ground, and his truck unlocked. “I left him in the bathroom.” Shit, had he been too long, was the sexy man still there? Maybe the wolf had got upset with him. He pounded towards the bathroom and flung open the door, but of course the room was empty, nothing but a towel tossed on the floor to indicate the room had even been used.

A companion novel to Angels of Mercy - Volume Two: Marco, as told by his boyfriend, Elliot Donahey.

The climb out of the homophobic beat-down that Elliot endured at the hands of Marco's teammates is only the beginning. In Angels of Mercy - Phoenix In The Fire, Elliot has a choice to make: withdraw further into himself and risk losing the one person who loves him unconditionally, or find a way to rise above it and become stronger?

For Elliot the choice is clear. He must choose to rise because Marco means everything to him. But as the boys find their way out of their nightmarish situation other things begin to plague them. Deceit, familial intrigue and secrets begin to eke into the boys lives as they try to just keep moving forward. To remedy this Marco provides a haven for Elliot that will keep him protected, walled off from any harm. But is this the answer the boys seek? Elliot isn't so sure, and even Marco begins to have his doubts. Marco throws every ounce of his immense resources at the problem, but as Elliot tells him, “Money can't solve what's troubling us.” To add to the boy’s woes, Marco’s meddlesome brother is threading his way into their relationship in the most inappropriate ways. Everything is not what it seems. Marco and Elliot are just trying to find their way out and remain together. The investigation back home isn’t making things any better as the authorities are closing in on who attacked Elliot. Everything bubbles up to the breaking point for them all. Will Marco and Elliot's love for one another be strong enough to see them through?

Firstly I should say that Paul normally reviews this series, but as he is absent at the moment, I had to have a complete Angels Of Mercy binge read from the first book, so that I could write this review – not that I am complaining, I just wish I had read this series earlier!

OMG OMG OMG – this series is honestly one of the best I have read for a while, and it is one that I don’t want to end.  This is also sad in parts, but it will be added to my list of books to be read again and again.

This book is again told from Elliot’s point of view, and I so loved the voices of reason in his head (which he called gayboy me and Bitchboi), both trying to get him to either do the right thing, or actually make things worse!! I have to admit to having a giggle a few times at their comments, especially when Elliot decided to answer himself out loud!

We pick up with this book, Elliot still in the hospital, but this time we understand more about his frustrations with being laid up in hospital, and also find out that he was taking more in than Marco and the others realized.  He sensed that he was not being told everything, so he would feign sleep to find out more!!!  Elliot seems to learning to be rather devious, but to me this was due to literally being treated like a child.  Yes he was badly hurt in his attack, but it seemed like everyone has then decided he was made of spun glass.

The special relationship between Elliot and Marco comes through loud and clear, as it is Marco that he will reach for, to ground him, to give him a certain peace of mind.  To me it seems that their love seems to grow stronger, and Marco vows to protect Elliot from anyone else being able to cause him harm – but Elliot has no idea of what this would actually mean.

When Elliot is finally released from the hospital, Marco takes him to the house he has brought, but it is not just any house, it is like a fortress, and at first Elliot is ok with everything, but then little doubts begin to creep into his mind, especially with Marco’s family, and even more so, with Marcos brother whom he has never met – or has he??   He soon begins to question everything, and seems to think he has an ally in Frankie, but is she who he thinks she is??

Slowly but surely Elliot begins to piece everything together, and he is not so sure he likes what he is finding out, but he is unsure about telling Marco anything. Does this mean the end for Marco and Elliot?  Do they catch the men that assaulted Elliot and left him for dead?
Does Elliot remember the events prior to the assault, when he thought it was Marco but it wasn't?

I can pretty much guarantee that you will not be able to put this book down once you start reading.  When I first began, I thought I was reading Marco’s book, but although it may seem similar, you now have Elliot's thoughts, and wow you see how wrong everyone was thinking they knew what he wanted.  You also see that Elliot is a lot stronger than you thought, and when he finally blows and lets everything out.... hold onto your hats, as it will be explosive.

SA “Baz” Collins hails from the San Francisco Bay Area where he lives with his husband, their daughter and wonder of all wonders, a whirlwind of a granddaughter and two exotic cats. A classically trained singer/actor (under a different name), Baz knows a good yarn when he sees it.

Based on years of his work as an actor, Baz specializes in character study pieces. It is more important for him as an author that the reader comes away with a greater understanding of the characters, and the reasons they make the decisions they do, rather than the situations they are in. It is this deep dive into their manners, their experiences and how they process the world around them that make up the body of Mr. Collins' work.

Jonas needs Tate. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Or at least, he doesn't want to admit it. Because there is no way Jonas Ashcroft is gay. He’s a straight, carefree frat boy player, just like any good son of a conservative state senator. If only his struggle to convince everyone—especially himself—didn’t leave him so miserable. No matter how many girls or bottles he drowns himself in, Jonas can neither escape nor accept who he is.

Enter Tate. He’s smart, confident, and instantly sees right through Jonas’s surly exterior. Sure, he’s done things in life he’s not proud of, but he knows who he is and what he wants. And what he wants is Jonas. As their easy friendship intensifies into something more, Tate introduces Jonas to a life he’s never known. One filled with acceptance and sex and a love that terrifies and excites them both.

But some inner demons refuse to be shaken off so easily. When Jonas’s old life barges in, he faces a shattering choice, one that could destroy everything he and Tate have fought so hard for. Sometimes love just isn’t enough—and sometimes it’s exactly what you need.

OK, I need to admit I love A.M. Arthur books, I think as normally because they are part of a series, and I love reading a great series, seeing old characters come back again.

This story is book one of a series called All Saints.  All Saints you find out is a hostel where LGBT kids can come and sleep safely overnight, and this is managed by Tate, one of the main characters in this book.

Now Jonas, hmm what to say about him. To begin with, I wasn't sure I was going to like him. He came from money, and although he was 21, had never worked a day in his life.  He had the rich and pampered lifestyle - but with one massive thing missing from it all - love.  He was sent to stay with his Aunt for a while by his parents, due to being suspended from College.

Tate was altogether different. He lived with his two sisters, once he was old enough to get custody of them, as all three were orphaned.  Tate has started the hostel, and worked hard there every day, including staying over some nights, but the most important people in his life were his two sisters.

Tate and Jonas meet, in the thrift store that Jonas's aunt owns and runs. At first, Jonas was unsure of Tate, and at times was a little standoffish with him.  Somehow Tate managed to see below the front that Jonas put on, and began to see the real person underneath.

Slowly, Tate managed to peel back the layers that Jonas had surrounded himself with, and the real Jonas began to appear, and be himself which was a gay man.  His father is totally homophobic, so it was like Jonas had been living a false life while with his parents.

Together with Tate, Jonas began to explore the life he could have being gay, and although only taking baby steps, seemed to be embracing his new life, and becoming a totally different person too. Gone was the arrogant man, he enjoyed helping others, and was beginning to enjoy his life in the small town with his Aunt.

Just as things were going well for Jonas, his dark past in the shape of his father comes back to the small town, and now Jonas has a few decisions to make, if he is brave enough to do so. Will he cower to his fathers demands yet again? Does he think his life in the small town would be better than that with his parents?  Will he remain true to himself and admit to his parents he is gay?
Excerpt:

“It’s small,” Jonas said.

“Better than a cardboard box or foster care.” The sharpness in Tate’s voice echoed in his frown.

Jonas had never known anyone before who’d been in foster care, and saying so would probably make him the biggest douche on the planet. It also took the edge off some of his irritation over the total mindfuck that was Tate Dawson. “It’s way better than both of those things. You worked hard for this place, Tate. I haven’t worked hard for anything in my life.”

“I disagree.”

He blinked. “You do?”

“Yes, I do. I think you work very, very hard to convince yourself and the world that you’re something you’re not. I think you work very, very hard to be perfect when no one is, and the only thing anyone should ever do is just be her or himself. Be true to you, not to what others want from you.”

Jonas’s throat squeezed tight. “I can’t.”

Tate took a step closer, bringing a gentle waft of sweat and something sweet. “Why not?”

He saw the barest reflection of himself in Tate’s glasses and he didn’t like it. He stepped back. Tate snagged his wrist and held him there. The touch sent awareness buzzing across his skin, down his spine and straight to his balls. H needed to pull away before this got out of control.

And then his rebel brain decided it was a good idea to glance at Tate’s pink lips. Lips that Tate, the asshole, licked with slow swipes of his tongue.

Jonas yanked away his hand away so hard Tate stumbled. “I’m not gay, so you can get that ‘fuck the frat boy’ fantasy out of your head right now.”

Instead of being cowed, Tate planted both hands on his hips and said, “Who are you trying to convince? Because it’s just you and me in this room, and I’m not the one who brought up your sexuality. You did.”

Damn him. “Why won’t you leave me alone?”

Tate’s gaze drifted over his face as he sought for words. “Because every time we’re together I can tell you’re struggling with something. You put up this lone wolf front to keep people at arm’s length so you don’t have to work so hard to pretend, but it’s exhausting you. Jonas, you can be yourself with me. Whoever that is.”

“I can’t.” Talking was getting harder around the lump in his throat. His heart was kicking too fast and his chest ached.

“Look me in the eye.” Tate closed the three strides between them, then curled a warm hand around the back of Jonas’s neck. “Look me in the eye and say you don’t want to kiss me right now.”

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing A.M. Arthur, author of Come What May.

Hi A.M., thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Hello! I’m an m/m romance author, who mostly writes contemporary but occasionally delves into paranormal. I live in Hicksville, USA with two rambunctious cats and a large collection of horror film DVDs.

My newest release, Come What May, is the first in a new NA romance series with Carina Press. Jonas Ashcroft is suspended from college after a fraternity prank goes wrong, and he’s stuck working in his aunt’s thrift store—his very first job ever. Tate Dawson runs an LGBT homeless shelter nearby, and when their paths cross, sparks fly. So do insults, misunderstandings, and smexy times.

1) What genre is your book and what drew you to this genre?
My book, Come What May, is contemporary New Adult m/m romance (say that five times fast). I was drawn to writing m/m romance because I enjoy reading it. I like m/f romance, but sometimes the tropes and gender roles drove me a little nuts. It’s hard to explain, but expectations of an m/m romance feel more open, because it’s two guys falling in love.

There’s actually a moment in Come What May where Tate, one of the heroes, goes into a mini-rant over gender roles and how the whole point was that they were two dudes, and there was no girl in the relationship. He kind of misunderstood something Jonas said and took it out of context, but his point stands.

And I threw the New Adult label on there, because that’s what we’re calling it now, even though the m/m romance genre has been writing these sort of college-age, coming of age, “new adult” stories for years and years. M/f romances made it a popular thing.

2) How many days a week do you write?
Now that I’m a full-time writer, my goal is four days a week. I do work one day a week outside of the house, so that I can pretend to be a social person, and I want to give myself two days off to do whatever. Lately I’ve been doing what I call office work (a lot of promotion, go figure), more so than writing on a novel, but I’m still putting words on paper. And it takes time.

3) On average, how long does it take to write a book?

Anywhere from three weeks to a year or more, depending on the book. I have WIP’s that I started last year. I’ve sat down and banged out a book in twenty-one days. But I suppose a fair average for a full-length novel is three to four months.

4) Do you have a trailer for your book? If yes, give us the link. If not, do you think you’d like to have one done at some point?

I don’t have a book trailer. I’ve never experimented with them, because I honestly have no idea if the investment is worth the return. I don’t watch book trailers. I rely on the blurb and on reviews to decide if I want to read something.

5) If I could be a character in a book, I would be _______?

Bear the Kitten, from my April release The Heart As He Hears It. Look at her life? She is absolutely worshipped in every way by two hot guys…
Meet the author:

A.M. Arthur was born and raised in the same kind of small town that she likes to write about, a stone's throw from both beach resorts and generational farmland. She's been creating stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long, in a losing battle to make the fictional voices stop. She credits an early fascination with male friendships (bromance hadn't been coined yet back then) with her later discovery of and subsequent love affair with m/m romance stories. A.M. Arthur's work is available from Samhain Publishing, Carina Press, Dreamspinner Press, and SMP Swerve.

When not exorcising the voices in her head, she toils away in a retail job that tests her patience and gives her lots of story fodder. She can also be found in her kitchen, pretending she's an amateur chef and trying to not poison herself or others with her cuisine experiments.

  Excerpt:

Moscow, February Four years ago Ominous dark gray clouds rolled in. Snow came down as small ice pellets that cut like glass shards on the skin. They swirled around the mourners as they stood over the twin coffins. A northeast wind blew over the loup garou cemetery outside of Moscow. It cut through the thickest coats and scarves. Alexei Davidoff shivered in his beaver coat and hat. His Enforcers lowered the bodies of his former Chief Beta and his Beta’s Mate into the ground. Newly joined, they were dead for the crime of being gay and holding hands in a public square in Moscow.

“This cannot stand. There has to be an answer to this, someone has to stand up against these thugs.” Alexei moved his platinum hair off his face. His navy blue eyes flashed both anguish and resolve.

“The perpetrators were human, one of the government’s army of gay bashers, Alpha. There is nothing we can do. We cannot harm a human, and the government gives us no recourse to law.” The Beta shook his head.

“When is the next protest?” Alexei paced across the icy ground in front of the graves.

“Tomorrow at noon, in the square,” Vasily Yudin, Alexei’s new Chief Beta said reluctantly.

“I will be there.” Alexei watched Vasily’s expression. His body folded in on itself in resignation. Alexei knew Vasily realized it was useless to argue. He saw that his Alpha had made up his mind. Alexei could tell his Betas were scheming to mitigate the damage.

“We’ll go with you, Alpha.” Vasily gestured to Grigory and the six Enforcers in the funeral party.

“No, I will go alone.” Alexei clenched his fists and set his jaw in defiance.

“Alpha, it’s dangerous. We can’t let you go alone. If the FSB picks you up, there is no guarantee that the council will be able to negotiate your release. Please, both Grigory and I think you should let us and the Enforcers go with you, or you should stay at home. The FSB under the current president is worse than the KGB that preceded them. Peter and Sasha wouldn’t have wanted you to put yourself in danger. There is no helping them now.”

“I cannot let this go unanswered, Vasily. The man who did this wasn’t even arrested despite the fact that I reported the assault. I must protest to the authorities. We have an obligation to try to right this wrong. He was one of mine, one of my household, my personal staff. I am responsible.”

“But, Alpha, we can’t let you go alone into a dangerous situation,” Grigory persisted. “We would be shirking our duty as your Betas if we let you go alone.”

Alexei Ivanovich Davidoff straightened his spine and spat. “I will lose no one else to the government. As your Alpha, I am ordering you to stay away.”

“Alpha,” Vasily got on his knees in supplication.

Alexei put up his hand to silence his Beta. “I will hear no more of this. I will lead the demonstration tomorrow.”

Vasily and Grigory hung their heads in defeat. * * * March

Three Years Later

“I don’t think I can make it,” Alexei said as he attempted to walk out the front gate of the gulag to the waiting car.

“Let Grigory and I help to hold you up.” Vasily and Grigory each put an arm under one of his shoulders and half-walked, half-carried him to the car.

They strapped him in the back and Grigory spent the twelve hours it took to get to the dacha trying to hold his Alpha up so he wouldn’t fall where he sat.

When Vasily and Grigory finally got him into the dacha, Vasily’s mouth hung open in shock when he took off his Alpha’s coat. Their six foot six, two-hundred-pound Alpha weighed less than one hundred forty pounds.

“What did they do to you?” Vasily asked, tears pouring down his face.

“I was caged most of the time I spent in the gulag. They tortured, beat, and defiled me daily, all because I’m gay and dared to report Sasha’s and Peter’s deaths, and point to who was responsible.”

“They call it prison now, Alpha.”

Alexei sighed wearily, “In modern Russia, they call it a prison. But I’ve been alive long enough to remember Stalin, Khrushchev, and Brezhnev’s slave labor camps. They can change the name but it’s still the gulag to me.”

“Alpha, you need to make the change. It will erase your scars and after you’ve changed a number of times, your injuries. It will take a while. Your injuries are severe.” Grigory helped Alexei into a roughhewn chair.

“I can’t change. I don’t have the strength.” Alexei put his head in his hands.

“Katya, Boris, something to eat for the Alpha, right away.” Katya ran to the kitchen and brought back some borscht.

“Finish this, Alpha. You have to eat constantly so your stomach can extend again.”

Grigory and Vasily knelt in front of their Alpha. Vasily spoke, “We’ve been pleading with the First for three years. The council finally negotiated your early release on the condition that you emigrate once you recover. We took the liberty of contacting Alpha Daurensbourg, from Saskatchewan and the Central US…”

“I am aware of Etienne Daurensbourg. He is a friend.”

“The council arranged for your emigration and that of your household. Alpha Daurensbourg will receive you in New York and already purchased a seven-floor townhouse and nine two-bedroom apartments for our people in New York City. Grigory, I, and our Enforcers will emigrate with you along with Boris and Katya.”

“But I have no funds, and you have families here. There I will no longer be an Alpha. I won’t be able to care for you.”

“You are our Alpha,” Vasily said with a stubbornness he had not shown to Alexei before. Alexei narrowed his eyes.

Alexei didn’t fight the emigration, only their participation. Vasily continued, “That’s the beauty of this course of action. Alpha La Farge, who was the North America’s Second, is no longer an Alpha. He is an Omega scrubbing Siberian toilets and can’t make the change. They sent him here eighteen months ago to die in disgrace for kidnapping The Alpha Mate. You have blood right to his territory in Colorado. Alpha La Marche has it now. I know he finds the packs fractious because he has no blood tie and they want one of their own. I’ve made inquiries. He’ll give it to you and you can become Second in North America.”

“I don’t want to be Second, Third, or Fourth for that matter. I can’t save the world. I learned that lesson the hard way. I will see my old friend Etienne Daurensbourg and maybe he can help me find a place to go. I have no funds…”

“Excuse me for the interruption, Alpha, but you do,” Vasily said with some satisfaction.

“As your factotum, Boris handled your funds. He put all of your accounts overseas as soon as the government started its campaign against homosexuals, only leaving enough rubles in Russia for operating expenses. As soon as they arrested you, he liquidated the rest of your investments and wired the funds to our London banker who in turn, had them sent them to The North American Alpha for safekeeping. Alpha La Marche reinvested everything. The American Stock Market has done very well. You are worth ten times what you were before and it’s all protected from the Russian government.”

“We bought first-class tickets to New York flying Air France on a nonstop flight to JFK where Alpha Daurensbourg will meet our party. Alpha Daurensbourg would have sent his jet, but the Russian government refused entry. However, Alpha Daurensbourg obtained green cards for the whole household. It’s all arranged for as soon as you are able to travel,” Grigory added.

It took until November for Alexei to regain his health and put on enough weight to have the strength to make the change that would take away the scars from the constant whippings. He still had some internal bruising that would only go away with time. Alexei needed rest, food, and a place to recover. But, even many transformations couldn’t take away the psychological damage the gulag caused, the malaise of the soul. For that, Vasily thought his Alpha needed a miracle. As soon as Alexei could bring out his wolf, Vasily and Grigory had their Alpha and his party on a plane to America. It was right before Yule.

* * * At Alpha Daurensbourg’s urging, Armand La Marche, the Chief Alpha of North America, gave Alpha Alexei Ivanovich Davidoff the territory of Colorado and a seat as Fifth on the Loup Garou Council of North America.

“You were Second in Russia, Fifth is an insult,” Vasily complained.

“No, it’s not. I’m grateful. I’m tired of tilting at Russian windmills. I need time to gather my strength and clear my mind. I have a place waiting for me at Garou as the officer in charge of Research and Development once I’ve fully regained my health.”

“You’re entitled to…” Grigory sputtered.

“I’m entitled to nothing. I was born in Russia. My mother was a citizen of the United States. She never filed for American citizenship for me when I was born. It was too long ago. I’d have to forge papers and with my accent, they would know I’m Russian which in the current climate, is not a good thing. I have a green card. I can become an American. For once, I’m going to be able to do the job I trained for. I have degrees in three kinds of sciences. Research and Development is where I belong.” Alexei sighed. “I don’t want anything else.”

“Your status…”

“If you are upset about the reduction in my status, go work for the new Russian Second.” Alexei’s face turned hard.

Vasily bowed his head in supplication baring his neck. “No, Alpha, we’re yours. Whatever you decide to do, we will go with you. I just wanted you to have options.”

“I’m taking an option. I’ll be Fifth and grateful for the consideration. I’ll leave the politics to Armand. Obviously, he’s better at it than we are. Although there has been some resentment, miraculously gay bashing is now a hate crime in the United States, against federal law, and gay marriage has become legal.”

Synopsis

Private detective Ronan Bayne is a former cop who now runs his own agency specializing in all things paranormal. After several women have gone missing, Ronan gets called in by the police chief. Dustin McPherson is a psychic who’s worked with the police in the past. After having a vision of one of the missing women, he meets Ronan. Together, they must solve a case more complicated than either of them expected.

Excerpt

It was too real to just be one of his nightmares. Dustin had learned to tell the difference between his dreams and a vision while he was asleep by the age of twelve, and he is twenty-one now. Dustin sits up in bed carefully, his head swimming a little, his ears still ringing with the girl’s heart-wrenching sobs. He gets out of bed and goes to the bathroom. He takes some Tylenol out of the cabinet and washes it down with a glass of water. He hopes that will help with his headache, and he won’t have to take the tramadol his doctor has given him. Dustin looks at himself in the mirror above his sink. He looks pale even for him, and sweaty. His dyed purple hair is matted, some of it slicked down, stuck to his head, and other bits are sticking up wildly. The whites of his bright blue eyes are a little bloodshot, but there is no blood below his nose this time, so that’s something. Splashing some water on his face to try to wake himself up a little, Dustin dries off his face with a towel, and then heads back to his bedroom. Dustin sits on the edge of his bed and pulls out the sketchbook he keeps there, and the charcoal. He starts sketching the girl from memory. He can remember what she looked like, but Dustin can’t remember anything about the room she had been in, only that it was dark and cold. She’d been chained up; her wrists were bleeding. Dustin had been able to feel her fear; she’d been terrified.

Excerpt:

“Hey, sleepyhead, wake up.” Archie gave a soft tug on Zack’s hair. Zack yawned and stretched and opened his eyes. He reached up and ran his forefinger over Archie’s lips. Archie caught it and sucked it into the warmth of his mouth. “You can have something else of mine in your mouth, if you want,” Zack said. Archie’s eyes narrowed, and he released Zack’s finger with a wet smack. “In front of all these people watching a romantic sunset? Mr Lorrimer-Grant, you are nothing more than a dirty slut.” “Which is why you love me and I love you.” Silence wrapped around them shutting out the noise of the crowds and the traffic from the road behind. As Zack gazed up at Archie, the world stopped turning. Archie hadn’t responded, hadn’t said that he loved him back. The warm air felt dense and heavy, like a huge weight had settled on his chest as the words he needed to hear were left unsaid. His chest tightened and grew heavier. Zack tried to fill his lungs with the warm night air, but it was no good.

Roman “Quick” Webb is one badass bounty hunter on the crime-filled streets of Atlanta. He’s fearless when it comes to carrying out his dangerous job alongside his longtime best friend and business partner, Duke. However, there is one thing that has begun to cause Quick concern and it’s the dreadful thought of living out the rest of his life alone. Seeing his best friend and his son fall in love and sharing the special connection that only true soulmates can, has made him all the more aware of what’s lacking in his life.

Love.

Dr. Cayson Chauncey has been wildly attracted to the big, tattooed hunter for almost a year, ever since he performed the surgery that saved Quick’s best friend’s life. Cayson must’ve mistaken Quick’s gratitude for something more, because the one time he tried to make his desires known, he was harshly rebuffed and left on the man’s doorstep feeling stupid for hitting on an obviously very straight man.

Cayson never dated a man who was willing to come out of hiding and be with him. Now at almost forty, Cayson is intent on no longer being anyone’s dirty secret. Having experienced countless disappointments, and having taken a stand not to fall for any more tricks, Cayson is more than a little skeptical when Quick comes around asking for a second chance to prove himself. The gorgeous man had already made it clear that he was not interested in Cayson… or so he’d thought.

Dr. Chauncey stirred up Quick’s suppressed, most carnal desires from a place deep down inside of him. He’d reacted so badly the first time that now his sexy surgeon wanted nothing to do with him. It was going to take a fair amount of patience and a whole lot of wooing involved as Quick sets out to convince Cayson that he’s worth another chance and that he is the brave lover who Cayson has been looking for.

With a scorned ex and a very dangerous job thrown into the mix, Cayson’s happiness and all of Quick’s promises may not be as easy to keep as they’d hoped.

I totally love the character of Cayson, he comes across as so insecure, he seems to me to think that he is totally unlovable.  He is not sure what to do when he is with Roman, he gets really nervous, but I have to say Roman doesn't really help matters either. I got annoyed with Roman at times, and wanted to reach into my kindle and hit him at times for how he treated Cayson.

Roman to me, was someone very confused. He would admit that he had feelings for Cayson, but he definitely didn't want to act on them. In some ways it was like he thought he was wrong to have these feelings for Cayson, especially as he had been married to a woman and had a son.  However, when he was in his teens, he had considered himself as being bi-sexual, but he soon suppressed this side of himself once he was married.

Cayson had already had his advances to Roman rebuffed previously, and so when he goes to Romans house to check Roman is ok after getting hurt while on a job, he is unsure of himself.  When Cayson arrives, Roman has just got out of the shower and was only dressed in lounge pants, and much to his embarrassment Cayson was getting aroused by being around Roman. Then he realised that Roman was also getting aroused, but couldn’t understand why, especially with what Roman had said to him before.  After checking him, Cayson can’t help but keep looking, while trying to hide his arousal. However when Roman utters the words “You like?” Cayson is understandably angry, and rushes out of the Romans house.

Now Roman is confused, as he realises that he does have feelings for Cayson, but has no idea what to do.  In desperation, he rings his best friend Duke to see what he should do, and then begins to try and woo Cayson, which seems to be sort of working, until an ex-boyfriend of Cayson’s comes back on the scene. Now Roman has a fight on his hands if he really wants a chance with Cayson.

Will Cayson accept all of Rome including the darker side he keeps hidden?  Has Roman managed to convince Cayson that he is special, or does Cayson still feel as unlovable as he did prior to Roman? What lengths will his ex-boyfriend go to, to try and win him back?

I loved this book more than the first one, especially Cayson. He may be a successful and well liked doctor, but his private life is totally different.  To me he was so starved of love, that anyone who showed him any affection he grabbed at with both hands…. Hence how he got himself involved with Joe. Roman had redeemed himself in my eyes by the end of the book, as his natural caring side came out whenever he was with Cayson. I hope that this is not the end of the series, and we see more of Roman and Cayson as well as the rest of the team in future books. I especially would love to read Brian’s story.

Believing Blue Full cover

BLURB

Is there a fated path we follow, or is it simply a series of coincidental events?

Police officer Kellan Howard is rumoured to have spent too much time in sub-zero temperatures, leaving him with a block of ice for a heart and women lining up to help thaw it. Mountain climbing is his only love, leaving no time for a relationship, and although meaningless sex satisfies his physical need, it’s empty. When he attends a fatal traffic accident, he didn’t expect his entire life to change. Along with a final message, Kellan is offered something else from the dying man: the chance to fall in love. Kellan’s never considered being with a man, but when he meets Valentino, he’s instantly drawn to him.

Suffering from crippling agoraphobia, talented Italian artist Valentino has a solitary existence, only experiencing life outside the house through his partner Stuart. When their relationship comes to an abrupt end, Kellan helps ease his suffering. A deep bond binds the two men together, and the sexual tension can’t be denied, but Valentino questions if the distance between their very different lives is too much, and if they can bridge the gap by themselves.

Ballet dancer Blue has a vibrant personality which demands attention, but his humour and courageous attitude are a shield. Blue’s good at making others believe in themselves, but what he needs is someone to believe in him. He could be the bridge both men are looking for, but Blue’s never allowed anyone to get too close, and when Kellan and Valentino enter his life, he desperately tries to protect his heart and his secrets.

When all three meet, the chemistry is undeniable, but each have fears about moving forwards. Together, they learn love comes in many forms. It can’t be restrained or labelled, and it doesn’t always appear in the way you first imagined.

Well, I had been waiting for this book.  I was gifted the first book in the series by a friend, and I was totally hooked. I totally love menage M/M books, and this series especially.

Kellan to me is a total sweetheart, he comes across as a large as life alpha male, but then again looks can be deceiving, and this was shown time and time again as you read the story.

Valentino is a typical stereotype of an Italian!! He is mighty fiery, plus being an artist is extremely expressive with his hands! He is one hot blooded man, which Kellan finds out about once on the receiving end of his attention.

Now Blue, well what could you say about Blue. What you see is what you get with him, but there is a vulnerable side he tries to hide from everyone. This isn't helped by an old boyfriend abusing him mentally, in the worst possible way.

The story is so sad to begin with, as it involves Kellan coming across an accident, and the man in the accident was Valetino's partner Stuart. Kellan being the man he is, could not leave Stuart, even when others arrived to help, and stayed with him talking, and Stuart tells him all about Valentino, and more or less gets Kellan to promise to watch out for Valentino.

Suffice to say, their first meeting did not go well, especially as Kellan was delivering the news about Stuart.  However, Kellan could not get Valentino out of his mind, and decided he had to go back and check on him.  Slowly over time, it seemed like Valentino was warming  towards Kellan, even bordering on beginning to love him, until he learns a secret from another friend and in true Valentino style he ended things.

In the meantime, Kellan had met Blue, but things had not got off to a good start.  I have to admit I was laughing at their first meeting, and could quite see this happening in real life!! Although off to a bad start, both Blue and Kellan realised that they liked the other, but at the time neither would say a word to the other.  When Kellan rescues Blue from something that could have ended up in a bad way, I think then was the turning point with them.

Once Valentino had ended things, Kellan was really down and it seemed like only Blue could make him smile.  They began to meet and both found that they really enjoyed each others company, but sometimes the sarcastic comments would still fly between the two. However, the more time they spent together the closer they got, and Kellan - although still in love with Valentino - was beginning to feel something deep and profound for Blue.

As is usually the way, things don't quite go according to plan, and in a strange sequence of events, Blue ends up modelling for Valentino, not realizing that Valentino was the man that Kellan was getting over.   Blue and Valentino, after a rather weird first meeting, get on really well together, it is one morning when Blue arrives that things take a turn that nobody was expecting....... Valentino has typed a text to Kellan, admitting his true feelings but not sending it, and in true Blue fashion he swipes the phone and hits send - not having any idea that the text was to Kellan and what the consequences would be.

Kellan knew that Blue was busy until the evening, and once he read Valentino's text, he decided that rather than reply, it would be better to see him in person. When he arrives at Valentino's house, what he doesn't realise is that Blue is there modelling for him....

What will happen when Blue realises that Valentino and Kellan used to be an couple?  What will Valentino think when he realizes that Blue is the new man in Kellan's life?  What will Kellan do - as he still loves Valentino but thought they stood no chance together, but he also loves Blue just as much but in a different way. Is there any way for the three to be together? Is that what Valentino and Blue would like too?

EXCERPT

Kellan gritted his teeth together and stood up. “I won't leave you like this.” “Get the hell out!!” Valentino gripped the base of his nose, rubbing it gruffly. His eyes snapped shut, but not quickly enough. Kellan spotted the misty glimmer in them. Whether his tears were caused through sheer frustration or sadness, it didn’t matter. Kellan couldn’t leave. He’d have to be forced from the house by an armed response team. “No!” Kellan held his shoulders firmly. “I won't leave you.” “God-damn it, Kellan.” Valentino’s eyes flew open, and Kellan’s hands were thrust from him with a jerk. “You're such a pain in the arse.” He leaned forward, almost hissing his words out against Kellan’s lips. “Why don’t you just leave me alone, huh? Why do you continue to push me when I don’t want it?” Kellan’s body brushed against Valentino’s firm flesh, and he cursed himself for responding so quickly. “Don’t lie and say you don’t want me here when I know damn well what you want.” Kellan didn’t really know for sure, but there was a heat and need between them which couldn’t be ignored anymore. Valentino needed him, and Kellan was willing to hand over whatever he could to fulfil that need. Valentino turned those teal green eyes on Kellan’s, a soft growl spilling from his lips. “You're a fucking tease! A tease, Kellan.” Kellan was about to come back with a response, like how he had no idea he’d been teasing Valentino, but he was halted by two hands on either side of his head and Valentino’s mouth being forced against his. He stopped breathing, too stunned to act. Valentino had his face clasped tightly to his, those full lips hitting Kellan’s hard and fast, his tongue licking and seeking entrance inside. A white hot shot of lust spiked through his body and every thought other than being against this writhing, sexy man disappeared. Kellan grabbed hold of Valentino’s hips, rushing him up against the wall and taking ownership of his mouth with a grunt. Valentino bit down on his lip causing Kellan to pull back. As soon as they separated, Valentino had the upper hand and was spinning him around, holding him against the wall and spreading his thighs open with his knee, rubbing up against the hard length of Kellan’s cock. Despite knowing he could easily restrain Valentino and take control back, he didn’t want to. He wanted this from him. “You know what I want?” Valentino breathed out through their kisses. “You want to give me what I need, Kellan?”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Welcome to the home of bittersweet M/M romances which will leave you craving more

Nicole grew bored being a supermodel genius who worked part time for NASA, and decided to take a break from helping solve the mysteries of the universe with Stephen Hawkins to write m/m romance. She has a loving relationship with her hubby of twenty years, and has achieved a lot in her short life considering she's only eighteen. She has fourteen dogs of all different breeds, plus twenty cats, and when she's not tending to their every need, and solving complex math problems, she loves to sew and can be often found knitting in the garden, which she maintains all by herself with her magical green fingers. Finding time to make all of her own clothing and master the kitchen better than Gordon Ramsey, she's also a vegan domestic goddess and can often be found cooking up a storm bare foot in her kitchen. Okay, so that's not true, especially the cooking part, though I do tend to be bare foot and I swear like Gordon does while burning my latest creation -- and I still think NASA will be getting in touch. Any day now!! *crosses fingers* I could sooo do that job because I'm so obviously awesome, but until they do... I'm a full time author of M/M Romance and Erotica, and somehow I have several bestselling books under my belt. I've been writing for four years, and I self publish all my work under Hidden Pleasures Publishing along with my amazing team of helpers in the form my cover designer Kellie Dennis, editor Jessica McKenna, and all of my beta readers and PA's. I'm a wife to my beloved hubby and mother to two young girls, and I do in fact have two cats who I adore, but no dog, as the hubby put his foot down. I live in Leeds in the North of England and I love it, despite the terrible weather. My men are all seeking what everyone is, true love mixed with passion and their own happy-ever-after full of laughter and tears.

Now, let’s see what I have for you today….

“Hey, Liam. What do ya got there?” Dianne asked, glancing from him to the tasteful sign designating the area for erotic LGBT romances. He arched one brow at her but held up one of the books to let her see the cover. “This here’s a book,” he drawled. “Inside it are words, hon. And it’s,” he added with a gasp, eyes wide, “got boys doing naughty things to each other in it.” She giggled and swatted him on the shoulder before snatching it from his hand. “Brat. I know what it is. I meant who’s it by?” She examined the cover and grinned. “It’s the newest Grey novel! Sweet!” “Yes, Di, you can get it today, but I already have your copy behind the desk, so hand it over and back away from the smexy boys in love.” He held his hand out, waiting for her to return the book in question. “Is it signed?” she asked, batting her eyes at him as she finally returned the book in question. “Duh! I had to order it special, just for you.” Dianne was all of five feet, maybe. She had blonde hair and bright blue eyes that were made even bigger by the wire-rims she wore, and a smile so big he wasn’t sure how it fit on her little heart-shaped face. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tight. “Thank you, sweetie. You’re the best.” A small chuckle slipped out as he watched her, glad he could bring her a little joy. His customers and his best friend seemed to be the only bright spots in his life anymore. Once upon a time, he’d considered his dream lover, Cam, to be one of those, but that was back when it was an occasional dream and he was lonely. Now, torn between wanting to live in his dreams and never wanting to dream again, he didn’t know what to do. “Oh dear.” Dianne peered at him over the edge of her wire-rimmed glasses. “What’s the matter?” “Nothing, Di,” he said, waving off her solicitous question. He knew if he wasn’t careful, she’d be on one of her “save the nephew” kicks. “Now, are you going to stand there all day or help me here?” “Hmm…. But watching you work is hot,” she countered, leering down at him. For the first time in months, he laughed loud and long, unable to get the image out of his head. “God, I love you, girl,” he declared, set the books in his hand down, and stood, scooping her up as he did, and spinning her around. “So good to hear you laugh again. Now, are you going to tell Auntie Di all about what’s bothering you?” He set her back down and sighed. “Nothing really. I’m just not sleeping well.” Her eyes narrowed as she scowled at him. “Still with the dreams? We need to find you a real boy. One that’s cute and sweet and hot as hell between the sheets,” she explained, waggling her thin, perfect eyebrows at him as she smirked. “No more blind dates, Dianne,” he grumbled. He bent to finish putting the books away. He thought back to her last three attempts at finding him “Mr. Right” and cringed. They had been the worst dates of his life. Controlling, whiny, and arrogant were not his thing in friends, much less in a partner. “Please.” “Fine,” she snapped. “I just want you happy, Liam. That’s all.” “I know, and I appreciate it, but—” He stopped speaking when he heard the bells jingle again. “Hold that thought,” he whispered before heading to the front of his store to welcome his customers.

People don’t just materialize into reality simply because you want them to so desperately that waking up breaks your heart.

Description:

Liam Grady is the owner of the Feathered Quill, a quirky little bookstore in Asheville, and—though he doesn’t realize it yet—a dream walker. His last relationship failed almost a year ago, and he’s not had the interest or nerve to pursue anyone he’s met since.

Cameron Danu is a tattoo artist from rural Georgia. Cameron is left without a job after his boss, Jose, is forced to close the shop after a heart attack. When Cameron learns Jose has set up an interview for him at a small tattoo parlor in Asheville, he hopes for a fresh start in a new town.

Fate brings Cameron and Liam together, and they realize they’ve met before—in their dreams. A chance encounter and a winged tattoo might lead them to their destiny—if fear doesn’t turn their dreams into a nightmare.

Wow, that is my first thought as I finished this book. This is also the first book I have read that goes into more detail about being a dream walker, and I really enjoyed it.

I love both the MCs in this book, both from different pasts but connected through their dreams, but neither realizing what was happening, and that they were actually dreaming about a real person.

When Cameron moves to the new town, he settles in and decides to try out the local night life.... and while there he is convinced he has seen a ghost..... as he sees the man from his rather x-rated dreams. Liam also sees Cameron, but by the time he gets himself together, his dream man has disappeared.........although they do meet again later in their dreams.

They do get to meet again when Liam decides he wants to get a tattoo that reminds him of his dream man, and runs into Cameron at the tattoo place.  Cameron's reaction is not what Liam expected and he shuts himself away in his room. Liam finally gets Cameron to agree to go for a coffee with him, where Cameron tells Liam to stay out of his dreams and away from him..

Liam tries so hard to avoid the dreams, but fails miserably. He gets so upset with himself, that he finds the only way to stop the dreams is to drink himself into oblivion each night..... which he does until his Aunt intervenes.  She tracks down Cameron and persuades him to meet her and Liam, but when Cameron sees Liam, he is shocked at how bad he looks, and even more so when he realizes he is the reason why.

Liam and Cameron decide to try the dating thing, and get to know each other while awake, rather than in their dreams.  All seems to be going well, until suddenly one night Liam is held gripped in a nightmare and Cameron can do nothing to bring him out of it.  In the end Cameron calls Liams Aunt and his mentor to try and help.

Now begins a journey that could actually break their relationship before it has really begun.  Is their love strong enough to survive the road that they must travel?

I love all the other characters in this book, especially Nate and Raven, and I hope that there will be a story about them in the future.

Picture
Since today is release day, I thought it might be fun to let Liam have a little time in the spotlight. He’s begrudgingly agreed with me. ;) He’s given a short interview of five questions—that’s all I could talk Cam into over on another blog today so he dug in his heels, lol. Still, Let’s see what he has to say and then we have a little excerpt and giveaway for ya.

Q: How do you fall in love? At first sight? Over a long period?
Liam: Ha-ha. It seems it takes me dreaming of the person for almost half my life. I’m not giving anything away by telling you that I’ve known Cam via dreams since we were teens—that’s how long we’re been on again off again, though we didn’t know the other was real. So, I’d have to say over a really looooong period of time, lol.

Q: What impression do you make on people when they first meet you?
Liam: I tend to give the impression of what and who I am, I think. I’m a bookstore owner with a major in library science and a minor in business. I dress conservative and probably seem that way to others, though I’m really not. Dianne is always trying to get me to loosen up and dress more fun, though, not so much at work as she has a definite idea of what’s work appropriate. Since meeting Cam though, he’s changing me, getting me more out of myself and how others first react to me seems to be more positive and laid back.

Q: How do you feel about your life right now?
Liam: Post-book? Wonderful! But I can’t really tell you about all that since you haven’t had time to read about Cam and my story yet. But let’s just say that where I was at the beginning to where I am now is so far separated as to be laughable. I still can’t believe the changes in my life since meeting Cam in the waking world!

Q: Describe your ideal partner.
Liam: Cam. Next question.
No, seriously, he’s everything I want in a partner. He’s funny, quirky, loyal, loving, hot as hell, into the same kinds of things in bed and out that I am… um… I don’t know how to explain what it is about Cameron that makes him him. If I had had to describe what I wanted before meeting Cam, still believing he wasn’t real, I would have said all those things, plus I would have wanted someone not so serious, but that took life seriouly. Not flippant or wishy-washy but fun and laid back, things I am not. Someone that could balance me while still being themselves, and vice verse.

Q: What was one of the most embarrassing things your author did to you in Dreamers’ Destiny?
Liam: There are a few things I could have really done without Tempeste showing you, but honestly, the worst has to be… Well, there are two things that I wish she hadn’t shown, though I understand why she did. The night at the club, or rather what I almost did and failed to do is the one I wish most she hadn’t shown. When you read that part, it will make sense. I still feel guilty!
