BLURB

Josh is convinced he’ll never find someone who’ll love him the way he is. He’s not exactly a catch with his PTSD, which has transformed him into a homebody most of the times. Sweet, maybe, but also boring as hell. Plus, there’s that submissive tendency he recently discovered and is dying to explore. When Connor shows interest in him, he can’t believe the sexy cop would look at him twice, let alone make an effort to get to know him. When he does, Josh discovers theyb have more in common than he’d ever thought possible.

Connor had survived the ordeal that left his best friend and fellow Marine dead, but that survival came at a price. He’s a robot, going through the motions, but barely alive. Until fate intervenes when he meets Josh. The vulnerable man triggers all kinds of protective and dominant urges in Connor, but what would a cute guy like Josh want with an inexperienced, closed-off, bossy steamroller like him?

When Connor discovers his past endangers Indy, all hope for a future between him and Josh seems lost. After all, there’s no way Josh will ever choose Connor over Indy’s safety and Noah’s lifelong friendship. When a crisis hits, can Connor prove he’s strong enough to deal with everything that’s thrown his way?

No Limits is a steamy M/M romance that ends with a HFN, but has a continuing storyline as well. It’s the second book in the No Shame Series, and is not a standalone novel, so make sure to read the first book (No Filter) first. It contains hot sex, a little BDSM kink for beginners, more hot sex, and a beautiful friendship that transcends labels. Also: trigger warning for mentions of sexual abuse.

No Limits Teaser 1

Picture
I really loved the first book in the series, and was looking forward to this one, mostly to see if this book would be as good as the first one - and omg,  it is even better.  I think what I am enjoying about this series, is although we are meeting more characters, and they are telling their story, there is still the continuing storyline.

We actually already know both Connor and Josh from book one (which was Indy and Noah’s story), but this is their story.  Josh suffers from PTSD, and it affects him quite badly, and due to this he comes across as withdrawn when outside the house. However at home, he loves nothing more than looking after his family, which is Indy and Noah.

When Connor decides to try and act on his feelings for Josh, things don’t quite go according to plan, but then again I think Connor is uncertain of himself, and if Josh would actually be interested in someone like him.  It is then Josh who makes the first move, and more importantly the two actually begin to talk – not that Connor really had a choice, as Josh stated there are no secrets, we talk about everything.

I loved this part of the story, Josh was attracted to Connor, but he also had in the back of his mind why would someone want him, the person whose life is dictated by his PTSD, but then Connor had his own demons to conquer and he wasn’t sure that Josh would be able to accept him as he is, as nobody else had.

Connor and Josh seem to grow closer, and the submissive in Josh really comes out more, but Connor seems to be in his element being the dominant one.  The journey between the two of them was intensive, but at the same time you could tell how much Josh has come to mean to Connor, and the gentleness that Connor shows Josh was as important as being the dominant one.

However, Connor does still hold a big secret from his past and when this is revealed, it seems that Connor may well lose Josh, as he would stay with Indy and Noah, and not remain with Connor.  But Connor knows in his heart that Josh is the very special person he has been searching for, and he will do almost anything that Josh, Indy or Noah want him to, so that he can stay in their family.

It takes a crisis to hit the house before Josh, Indy and Noah realise how much Connor wants to be part of their misfit family, but is he actually up to the task??

The last few chapters of the book have set up the background for the next book, and I have to admit I really can’t wait to read this book.  This series has kept me gripped since the first book, and I hope that the next book, or should I say the next two books will keep me just as enthralled  - I had to go and check how many were in this series, and was over the moon to find there are still another two books to look forward to :)

EXCERPT

Connor needed to know. “But you are gay, though?” “I am.” “That’s good,” Connor said, then cleared his throat. So far for playing it cool. Oh, fuck it, that ship sailed long ago. You might as well go all in. “Look, before we continue this conversation, can you at least say something?” Josh tilted his head to the side, his nose crumpling, making him look adorably cute. “About what?” Connor threw his hands up in the air. “About whether or not you like me back. You still haven’t said a damn thing on how you feel about me, if you like me or not.” This time, Josh's answer came wicked fast. “You’re hot and damn sexy, but I don’t know you well enough yet to decide whether I like you or not.” Connor’s mouth dropped open slightly. “You think I’m sexy?” Josh rolled his eyes. “Dude, you’re built like a tank, you’re as masculine as they come, you have the whole uniform thing going with a healthy dose of dominant macho and ‘don’t fuck with me’ thrown in. You’re, like, the wet dream of every bottom, including me.” This brutally honest confession was not what Connor had expected from sweet, shy Josh. To be fair, the guy seemed a little flustered once the words were out, as if he’d said more than he’d wanted to. But holy fuck, those words had lit a fire inside of Connor. “I’ve never done this before,” Connor said. “I’ve never been in a relationship, haven’t even dated, so I have no idea what I’m doing here, or how to do this.” Understanding dawned in Josh's eyes, taking away his previous embarrassment, which was exactly what Connor had intended. He had this baffling urge to make Josh feel better. “You’re not out,” Josh said.

Nora Logo Gold

When she was a little tot, Nora’s mom got a library subscription for her. That, as they say, was that, and a lifelong love for books was born. Nora never stopped reading and doesn’t exaggerate when she says she devours books, rather than plain reads them. She started writing stories as soon as she could hold a pen, and wrote her first full book as a teen (on a typewriter!). It took her waaaay too long to follow her dream to become a romance author.

Nora writes M/M romance, because hello, sexy boys, and likes her men flawed, strong, and a tad broken. She appreciates a little kink, but insists on a happy ever after.

Ben has Christmas, cats, and mistletoe on his side…. Jason doesn’t stand a chance

For Ben Slater, moving back to Bristol means being closer to his family, living with his best mate, and volunteering at the local animal shelter. But there’s also Jason, his best mate’s eldest brother. Ben’s had a crush on Jason for as long as he can remember, but the eleven-year age gap has always seemed insurmountable.

Jason Armitage works as a vet at his uncle’s practice. He owns a cute cottage on the outskirts of the city, and a loving dog. The one thing missing is someone to share it all with. His brother’s best friend seems a bad choice, but Jason can’t help taking a second look. Ben’s changed a lot since Jason last saw him; both in appearance and attitude. Gone is the shy young boy, replaced with a confident, twenty-four-year-old man.

In the run up to Christmas, the festive period gives Ben the ideal opportunity to show Jason what he has to offer. But concerns for his brother’s feelings hold Jason back. If they have any chance of making this work, Ben must convince Jason that he’s old enough to know what he wants, and Jason needs to believe that a relationship with his brother’s best friend won’t ruin their friendship.

Picture
I really loved this story, I think because I could relate to the MC’s so well, and could understand what was holding them both back.

Ben is totally lovely, he has crushed on Jason for years, and perhaps this is one of the reasons that he moved away to go to uni, but now he is moving back.  He will be living with his best friend Liam, who is Jason’s brother!!

Jason knew that Ben had been crushing on him, and it has been a while since he has set eyes on him, but he is shocked when he does see him – more like stunned, eyeballs out on stalks at how hot Ben is now.

However, no matter how attractive Jason finds Ben, there is the small matter of their age difference, and more importantly the fact that he is his little brothers best friend.  He more or less convinces himself that things are doomed from the beginning, and family means the world to him, so he will do nothing that could impact this.

What Jason doesn’t realise, is that Ben is quite the determined individual, and once he realizes that Jason is actually attracted to him, then it is more or less no holds barred!! Things seems to going the way Ben wants, until Liam manages to put a spanner in the works, and it seems like all Bens hard work has been in vain...... or has it ??

Excerpt

Ben tried not to look, but inevitably his gaze was drawn to Jason still sat on the sofa. He stood as Pete stepped back, and Ben got a proper look at him. Ben wasn’t the only one who’d changed a little over the past couple of years. The last time he’d seen Jason, his hair had been short, like an army cut, and he’d had a beard. He’d looked hot then, but now…. Ben had to forcibly shut his mouth so he didn’t gape.
Jason’s thick dark hair, still shaved at the sides, was now a good couple of inches longer on top. And he was clean shaven. Ben kind of missed the beard, but without it Jason looked much younger, and his strong jawline was a thing of beauty. He looked thinner, too. Ben frowned because Jason ate like a horse and had always been bulkier than his brothers. That thought somehow made its way out of Ben’s mouth.
“Have you lost weight?”
Jason laughed softly, one hand immediately going to his stomach. He patted his belly and sighed. “God don’t you start. Mum’s already been on at me about not eating properly.” He pulled Ben in for a quick hug. “It’s good to see you, even if you do put the rest of us to shame.”
Oh God, that voice. As smooth and deep as Ben remembered.

I was going to write a review for this, but as usual with an anthology there are some stories you like more than others, and that is just my personal opinion, so I didn't think that was fair.

Although not all the stories were my cup of tea, I really did enjoy reading this anthology.  It sure made me realise that Christmas is now not that far away!!  If you want to try some authors you have not read before, then I believe anthologies are the best way to go, and this one is no exception.  The only author I knew from this anthology was Addison Albright, so I myself have found some new authors to look up too :)

Blurb

Journalism student Gabe Martin gets his first professional assignment—to write about a Christmas charity dinner that benefits a children’s home. It sounds like a total snooze-fest until Gabe learns that the event’s Santa is a mystery man. He shows up in costume and no one has a clue who he is. Uncovering Santa’s identity sounds like the perfect angle to turn a fluff piece into serious journalism.

Mack “The Mountain” McDonall, at 6’10”, is University of Wisconsin-Madison’s enormous star wrestler. When Gabe first claps eyes on him at a wrestling match, it’s lust at first sight. Gabe’s friend, Jordan, sets up the pair on a date. But when Gabe chatters on about his plans for outing Santa, Mack goes cold, and their first meeting becomes an epic fail.

As Gabe researches the children’s home, he learns that Mack has secrets a guy famous for being a brute wouldn’t want the world to know. Can Gabe find his holiday spirit, write a killer article, win the heart of a surly giant, and give everyone a very merry Christmas?

Picture
I totally loved this story, I have to admit at one stage I was wondering if I was going to keep liking Gabe, or whether he would put his job before doing what was right.  This is a great Christmas story, and a real feel good story.

Gabe dreams of being a serious journalist, and when he is given his first assignment, he was so disappointed, until he then thought of a way to make his name - but at what cost?

Now Mack is a what you would call a gentle giant, and at 6'10" he is huge!!  When Gabe first sets eyes on Mack, he is literally stunned, not believing he is wet dream in real life.  But Mack is also the silent quiet type, and he has a hidden side that others don't know about.

On their first date, Gabe is talking about the piece of serious journalism he will produce, and that is revealing who the Santa is - a secret that has been kept for the last few years.  Once he does this, Mack then seems to give him the cold shoulder, and Gabe is not sure why.

When Gabe decides to dig a little deeper, he then finds out secrets that Mack has been keeping from him, but then he has a decision to make - does he print his story revealing the identity of the Santa, or are his feelings for Mack deep enough for him to do something different, and keep Macks secrets too?

Eli Easton has been at various times and under different names a minister’s daughter, a computer programmer, a game designer, the author of paranormal mysteries, a fan fiction writer, an organic farmer, and a long-distance walker. She began writing m/m romance in 2013 and has published 27 books since then. She hopes to write many more.

As an avid reader of such, she is tickled pink when an author manages to combine literary merit, vast stores of humor, melting hotness, and eye-dabbing sweetness into one story. She promises to strive to achieve most of that most of the time. She currently lives on a farm in Pennsylvania with her husband, two bulldogs, several cows, and a cat. All of them (except for the husband) are female, hence explaining the naked men that have taken up residence in her latest fiction writing.

Length: 50,000 words approx.

Blurb

Fresh off a break-up, Remy is in no mood to share a room with his brother's best friend during a holiday stay at home. Jason Hendricks has always treated him like a little brother to tease and taunt, all the more embarrassing because Remy has secretly crushed on the jerk since puberty. But when Jason confides he's bisexual, Remy realizes the crush he loves to hate could be the perfect rebound.

Jason has always found Remy appealing. He didn't handle his attraction well when he was younger, but now Remy's a grown man and Jason's no longer afraid of his feelings. Some playful flirtation sounds like a great way to spend Thanksgiving break, but he's not prepared for Remy's newfound sex appeal or his decision to make Jason his rebound fling. Jason doesn't want to risk fallout with a family that's always been there for him, but he's not sure he can resist.

When the two part ways, they don't plan to stay in touch, but soon they're texting, trading sexy pictures and helping each other cope with family drama. Remy agrees to be his for the holiday, continuing their secret fling over Christmas, but Jason knows that won't be enough. He'll have to find the courage to be open and honest with his best friend -- and the whole Wells family -- if he wants a chance at love in the new year.

This approximately 50,000 word novel is a brother's best friend, enemies to lovers romance that comes with a satisfying HEA!
Picture
When I read the blurb for this book, I was really looking forward to reading the story.  I think it was perhaps me, but it took me a couple of chapters to get into the book, but once I was into the book, I did really enjoy the story.  This was actually a story where I really felt for both of the main characters, both have deep feelings for the other, but their past is holding them both back.

Remy has just broken up with his latest boyfriend, and to me he is feeling rather raw with this, and to go back to the family home for a holiday, and find that he has to share his room with his brother’s best friend is like the last straw.

Jason has no idea that Remy has crushed on him since puberty, and Remy has no idea that Jason has always been attracted him.  When the two meet, and it has been a while since they have seen each other, there is attraction between them, but this is covered up by the usual flirting and bantering, in some ways to ensure the family doesn’t notice their attraction to each other.

Once Jason confesses he is bisexual, I think this confuses Remy, he is attracted to Jason, but after his breakup, he is not sure what he really wants from Jason – well, he considers a holiday fling for the time they are there, and then it finishes when they leave.  However, it seems that Jason has other ideas!

Once Jason and Remy begin texting each other, you will smile at times here, but you will also learn more about their families, mostly Jason’s.  The two actually begin to grow closer, although I don’t think they realize how much the other has come to mean to them.  They will be together at Christmas, but Jason wants more than just a fling, but he has to honest with people of who he is, and things don’t actually go according to plan.

Excerpt

“Hey,” Jason said quietly. The bed dipped as he sat down on the edge of the mattress. “You okay?”

“Oh, so you’re done avoiding me?” Remy said, hating the bitter edge to his words. He swallowed hard, trying to gain control over his emotions, so he didn’t make a fool of himself yet again.

“I’m sorry,” Jason said. He sounded sorry. Truly regretful.

Remy pushed up, struggling into a seated position against the headboard. If they were going to have this talk, he wanted to look Jason in the eye.

Swallowing hard, Remy forced out words that had been nagging at him all day. “I’m sorry too. I got carried away. I didn’t mean to pressure you—”

“God no, Remy,” Jason interrupted. “No, no. It wasn’t like that.”

Jason’s hand hovered in the air. Remy watched Jason hesitate before resting his big palm over Remy’s thigh. The blankets formed a barrier between them, but the point of contact burned as if he could feel the warmth spilling from Jason’s hand.

“Then I’m confused,” Remy said.

“I, uh, find you very sexy,” Jason said, voice tinged with embarrassment. It would be charming if it weren’t for the heavy topic of conversation. “But I need the Wells family. I don’t talk about my parents much, but—”

“I know it’s not great,” Remy said. “Dad filled me in on what happened last summer with your mom.”

“Yeah,” Jason said. “So, basically, I’m terrified of fucking everything up. If I go there with you, I might hurt you. And if your parents or Derek find out, I’m not sure what they’d do. It’s just … messy.”

“It doesn’t have to be,” Remy said. “It’s just some fun. No strings needed. And as for going there with me, don’t you think the cat’s already out of the bag? You’ve had your hand on my dick.”

Jason glanced at Remy’s crotch, unable to resist teasing him. “Cat’s out of the bag? And here I thought pussy only referred to—”

Remy slapped his hand over Jason’s mouth. “Don’t say it!”

Jason chuckled, his warm breath gusting over Remy’s palm. Remy shivered as their eyes locked and held. When the wet tip of Jason’s tongue licked a stripe over his hand, he couldn’t hold back a small moan.

“Fuck you, JJ,” he muttered, pulling his hand back. “If you’re going to say no, don’t fucking tease me.”

“I’m not saying no,” Jason said roughly. “I probably should, but I can’t say no to you again. Not one more fucking time.”

Blurb

A photographer with post-traumatic stress disorder falls for a comics artist on a wild New Zealand beach, but can he find true love when he feels so wounded by life?

Everything changed when the bomb exploded. Forty-five-year old, Alex Cox worked as an international photographer until a deadly explosion left him with post-traumatic stress disorder. Emotionally wounded, and desperate for a sense of safety, he's run all the way to wild and remote Kahawai Bay, New Zealand.

Under the worst possible circumstances, Alex meets Joe, a shy young comics artist. Joe lets Alex into his playful, gentle world of comics, and soon Alex is falling for him, hard. Alex longs for more. Joe is reticent. But is it shyness? Or does Joe not want a much older lover with 'issues'? Or is something else keeping them apart?

This is a tender and uplifting story about creativity, adversity, true love, and comics.

Picture

This is a totally new to me author, so I was looking forward to reading this book.  When I began reading, I have to admit I wasn't sure, but read on anyway and I am glad I did, as it is exactly as the blurb says "a tender and uplifting story".

We meet Alex, who suffers from PTSD, and sometimes it completely hits him out of the blue, and with the tiniest thing.  He also seems to be a bit of a loner at times, keeping to himself - which is probably why he brought a house in a remote place.

We also meet Joe, who seems very shy, and usually tends to try and blend into the background, just so he cannot be seen.  It works some of the time, but Alex has noticed him, and also taken note of how he acts too.

The two do actually meet, but not in the best of circumstances, and then Alex is hit with his PTSD and disappears! When he returns back Joe is gone, and Alex is not sure what to do.  Alex admits to himself that he is drawn to Joe, but Joe seems to shy away from him, is this due to their age difference??

Are they destined to only be friends, and never anything more?  Both need to be honest with the other, and perhaps then they can look at more.

A gift for every single reader needed to know what happened next for to Jack and Riley…

When Hayley arrived on the steps of the D, Riley and Jack knew life would never be the same.

Told through Riley and Jack’s eyes, this is ten years in the life of their family and watching Hayley grow up, fall in love, and start her own life. Hurricanes, illness, babies, happiness, sadness, work, play, the barn, the office, horses, friends, enemies, and above all love.

Wow, what a read - and boy do you have laughter and tears all the way through this book.  Plus, when you read the first chapter, you will be thinking that is evil, you can't do that to Riley!

I have actually read this a few times now, and it gets better each time I read it.  I think I love this series so much, as it is so like real life, and what happens in the book, you could quite well imagine happening in your own house (well except the horse parts, as I don't live on a ranch!).

This story is told from Jack and Riley's point of view, so you really get an insight into their emotions of everything that happens, and you are in for a real roller coaster ride.  I was laughing at some things that happened, and then pages later I would be reading with tears in my eyes.

Over the course of the book, you travel over 10 years, and see each child come into their own - never influenced to do something by Jack or Riley, they allowed all their children to grow into their own person. That is not to say that Riley had to be held back by Jack a time or too, who is the voice of reason at times.

What is totally clear in the book, is the love between Jack and Riley, which only seems to get stronger the more years they are together.  Add into this the love they have for their children, and this is one family that just keeps growing and growing.

The Texas series is one that I would highly recommend as a must buy. Once you start reading, you will not want to stop, so find a nice quiet place and be taken away into the land of Jack and Riley, and the rest of their family on the D.

Excerpt

Chapter One

Riley needed to apologize. Right now.

He’d fucked up big time, and he should have seen it coming, because everything he did went in cycles. He and Jack hadn’t argued in so long and maybe the tension that had been building inside Riley had needed an outlet; he’d provoked the argument. He’d pushed and prodded and sulked and shoved at Jack until Jack had snapped.

Not in loud, shouting temper, or anything like what Riley deserved. No, Jack had gone deathly quiet.

Absolutely. Utterly. Quiet.

Riley shouted at him, got everything out of his system, felt the weight of it all lessen by throwing it at Jack and what had happened? He’d stood there at first, confused, and then steadily calmer. Weirdly calmer.

They argued; no normal marriage went without arguments over things as important as the kids and as trivial as picking up wet towels. But they resolved things, Jack/Riley was a unit that worked. They sometimes bickered and teased, they shouted rarely, and on the odd occasion there would be sulking. Mostly from Riley. He considered it as thinking time but Jack just called him on his sulking like a child.

Their arguments always ended in love; talking, kissing, complete forgiveness that could only come when two people understood and loved each other.

This morning though, he’d made Connor cry, Lexie scowl, and Max hide under the table with Toby. Jack hadn't even stayed for that. The crying, scowling and hiding had happened after he’d left.

“Why are you shouting at Pappa!” Connor shouted back at Riley. “Stop shouting.” Then he’d started to cry, and Riley’s heart had broken into a million pieces. He’d sat between a crying Connor, and a sullen, angry Lexie and tried to explain that he had a bad headache and he didn’t mean to shout. For headache, read migraine, tight painful migraine that blurred his vision and made him feel sick. He’d taken meds and the sharp edges of the glass in his head were easing, but he couldn’t think straight. Connor stopped crying.

“You were so mean,” Lexie summarized, but she did give Riley a hug and kiss him on the forehead to make it all better.

Max on the other hand, while not angry with Riley and the shouting, was still under the kitchen table with Toby. The black lab, Riley’s black lab, was between Max and Riley in a protective furry wall.

“It’s okay Tobes, I got this,” Riley tried to fold all six-four of himself under the wood. He got caught on a bench, his neck burned, his stomach was in knots, but nothing was going to stop him from getting to Max. Toby did eventually move to one side but not too far. Toby may well have been Riley’s dog at the start, but he and Max were inseparable now.

“Max, buddy?” he began, and Max at least looked up at him for a split second. “You okay?”

“M’okay,” Max said. “You’re noisy.”

At least he wasn’t rocking, or stimming. He was just sitting with his dog in his favorite place under the kitchen table.

“Is everything okay?” Carol said from behind him. He scrambled back and brushed himself off. “Riley?”

“I shouted,” Riley explained simply.

“At the kids?” Carol asked, aghast, as if that was the ultimate sin in her eyes. Which, to be fair, it was in Riley’s as well. He and Jack didn’t shout, they cajoled, and bargained, and ran a happy house. Most of the time, anyway. Just not this morning.

“No, at Jack.”

“Is Max okay?” she peered under the table and smiled at Max. He adored her, the kids all loved their nanny, probably quite a bit more than they loved their dad today.

“He seems fine.” Riley peered out of the window at where Jack had gone. The damage had been done, but Connie and Lexie were chatting to each other, Max was with Carol and he needed to go and make things right with Jack.

“I think we’re okay in here,” Carol said, “Go find Jack.”

Riley shot her a grateful glance, and as he left the kitchen he heard Lexie telling Carol that her Pappa had a headache and that she’d kissed it better. When he closed the door it was just him and the ranch and finding Jack. It didn’t take him long; he was outside their barn, looking up at the siding, with his feet apart and his arms crossed over his chest.

Riley inhaled the fresh morning air and pulled back his shoulders. He could do this; he could ignore the pain in his head now it had lessened a little, he could push back the nausea, and he could go and apologize to Jack for being a fucking idiot.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured, coming to a stop next to Jack, only a few inches separating their arms. Jack didn’t move.

“It’s okay.” Although it didn’t sound okay at all. Okay was one of those words that meant nothing in the context of an argument, it was a word that plastered over cracks in a relationship. Okay was quiet and tight-lipped silences and Riley recalled okay from when he was a kid.

He hated okay.

“It’s not okay, I have a headache and I didn’t mean any of what I said.”

“You didn’t mean to say that life would be easier if you didn’t have to listen to me?” Jack’s voice was low and serious, and Riley winced.

“You were saying too much, and I couldn’t think.”

Their discussion had started in the bedroom.

“I asked if you’d made an appointment to see someone about the headaches.”

“I know—”

“And why you were limping again—”

“Jack—”

“And why you weren’t sleeping, and why you spent so much time at the office, and why the fuck have we not used the barn in over a month?”

The barn wasn’t just the barn, it was a euphemism for sex. They hadn't been together in a month, over a month now. How did Riley explain that he’d been at the office, sometimes with the blinds shut, closing out the light, sleeping? How did he explain he didn’t want to see a doctor because the headaches scared him? And how the hell did he tell Jack he was limping because every single one of his muscles hurt, because he was tired, because it was all too much?

“Jack, I’m sorry.”

“You’re not, Riley, because you won’t listen to me.” Jack pointed at the barn. “I’m thinking we turn this into a games room for the kids.”

Riley gripped Jack’s arm. “No, what the hell?” His tension fled and in its place was panic. This was their space. Sometimes they came out here to talk, to hide away from the world, but it was also the one place they had the hottest sex he’d ever experienced. He wanted that again, but he was so tired, every time he turned over in bed his neck hurt, and his head pounded, and his leg ached, and he was fucking tired of it all. “Jack, I’m sorry, don’t…”

Jack turned to face him, and his expression wasn’t angry. “Either you go to the doctor, right here, right now, or I start clearing the place for a pool table.” He looked deadly serious, and Riley couldn’t tell if this was an empty threat. Then Jack softened, cradled his face and pressed a kiss to his forehead. “Riley, please.”

Just those two words pierced the fear in Riley, he couldn’t stop the pain, or the threat of being sick, or not sleeping, but whatever was wrong, Jack would be there for him.

“I’m scared,” Riley murmured.

Jack gathered him close. “You think I’m not?”

“Please don’t,” Riley said against Jack’s neck. His words sounded slurred and fear made him sway. What the hell? “Please don’t let me chase you away.”

“I won’t.”

And that was the last thing he heard as his world went to black.

“I would never forgive myself if something happened to another man I cared about because I’d been careless and given in to temptation.” ~ Zander

The last thing I was looking for was a relationship, then I laid eyes on a dancer at a nightclub and my entire world was flipped upside down. Kai is everything I’ve ever wanted, but shouldn’t have. I’m haunted by a past I can’t seem to break free from, and I’m not sure I can be the man Kai deserves. He makes me want to try, but I worry that I’m broken beyond repair.

“There was already a big enough stigma attached to being a go-go dancer, but add being a webcam model to the mix and people tended to assume things about me.” ~ Kai

School, dance, cam, repeat. My life was on a constant loop as I struggled to keep my head above water. After seeing Zander in the crowd while I was dancing, I knew I had to meet the handsome stranger who took my breath away. I don’t know if I’m the right man to help set him free from his pain, but I’m going to do everything I can to try and help him see that the past doesn’t have to define his future.

I have been patiently waiting for this book to be released, as I really enjoyed reading Den Boys #2 - and although I enjoyed the story, for some reason although I loved Kai, I didn't feel the same for Zander, although I was totally warming to him by the end of the book.

Lust at first sight is how you could describe the first meeting between Zander and Kai, as it was in a club, and Kai was Skylar, one of the go-go dancers there.  Zander was watching, and was totally mesmerised watching Skylar dance.

Kai was equally mesmerised by Zander, and unusually for him he went back to Zanders house with him.  It seems that Zander is only after a one night stand with Kai, but as the night wore in, it becomes obvious that Zander does feel something, but is totally against acting on this.

To be honest, with the way that Zander was looking on life, it didn't seem like there would ever be anything between them, and Zander seemed to be fighting hard to make sure it happened this way - and this is due to what happened to his previous love, which you find out.

Add into this a secret that Kai has, that someone inadvertently reveals to Zander and things seem to take a downward turn.  However, Zander is starting to have feelings for Kai, and agrees to meet, and Kai explains almost everything that has happened to him.

Now Zander and Kai do begin a relationship, spending time together whenever they can, and things seem to be going well, but Kai also has another secret that could ultimately destroy everything he has with Zander.

Their love is forbidden, but their hearts aren’t listening to rules and regulations…

Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a twentysomething hell-raiser, he’s his SEAL team’s new XO—and a man with a secret. Or seven. He's kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semi-anonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction—they're taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time.

Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isn't always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. He'll make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low.

But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend they're just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his team's newest member, they're in for the shock of a lifetime…and a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good.

With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together.

I have read lots of the books by Annabeth Albert, and I think this book is another one that I can say is a favourite -  I was pulled straight into this book, and wow all the feels you get reading.

Dustin and Wes will make you fall in love with them, and you will really feel and understand their frustrations at what they encounter, when they realise theirs is a forbidden love - well according to the military it is....

They meet on a website, and at first it is just chats and getting each other off, until the day that decide the meet in person This seems to take things to a new level, but one important fact they don’t discuss. is their jobs. - and this could be their downfall. It doesn’t seem to be a problem until Wes gets orders to report to a new Seal Team, - and when he arrives, he soon realises who else will be there..... Dustin.

Now is when you will really feel for both Wes and Dustin, as they have have deep feelings for the other, but keep those hidden, especially as it seems nothing can be gained by acknowledging each other, but everything to be lost. However, they both soon find that it is not so easy to ignore someone who actually means quite a lot.

They tried not meeting, and not chatting online, but the pull between them was just too much. They have to tread carefully though, because if someone sees them, this could cause big problems with both of their careers - but how often to you find a love like they have.

I won't spoil what happens, but suffice to say they both need to do some hard thinking, about what they actually want in their life. If they want their careers, then they must finish what they have together. If they choose their love, then how can they be together and not lose their careers??

I have loved every single book in the Out Of Uniform Series, but this as I have already said is one of my favourites.  You really do seem to be living through what happens to them both, and I think this is why I love this book so much.

“So?” Wes prompted after she’d left again. “You don’t want me to hook you up with someone, even hypothetically, but what would you like tonight? Burger and watch the game? Or…”
“Or?” Dustin sounded more curious than off-put, which was good.
“Or…and I’m just throwing this out there…I’ve got a hotel room close to here. We could go hang there after we eat. Just talk. And stuff.”
“Define stuff.” Dustin fiddled with his paper napkin, but he hadn’t said no. And he was cautious, which was a good thing, smart. Another trait all the marines Wes knew had—they were wary, always ready for the next threat.
“Talk. Like how we usually do on Saturday nights.” Wes raised his eyebrows and nodded, telegraphing that he knew perfectly well how those nights usually ended, both of them drenched in sweat and spunk, yawning goodnight into the phone.
Dustin hissed in a breath. “And you’d be good with that? Just our usual?”
“Oh trust me—” taking a risk, Wes leaned across the table, putting his lips against Dustin’s ear “—there’s nothing usual about what I want to do to you. And absolutely nothing boring about a live-action version of our regular game.”
He sat back down in time to watch Dustin’s eyes light up at the mention of game. Yeah, Wes knew how to get him going. And the equal measure of trepidation and anticipation in his eyes made Wes’s pulse speed up. He wanted this, far more than he was willing to let on.
“I…” Dustin glanced around again. “I’m not…”
“Shh. You don’t have to give me an answer yet. We can enjoy our food. And the game. Hopefully UVA loses spectacularly so I can gloat about that when I call home tomorrow, and my dad will be in a better mood.”
“Okay.” Dustin sighed, and Wes knew he wasn’t imagining the relief on his features. Darn it. “How’s your sister doing?”
Wes had told Dustin a little about Sam’s heart condition on a night a few months back when he was feeling particularly down. Dustin remembering how close he was to Sam made warmth spread through his chest. “She’s good. Always got to be on the lookout for infection though. Hopefully this year’s cold and flu season isn’t too rough. She made me a new playlist today. I’ll forward you the link.”
“More of that alternative-country?” Dustin made a face. They might share a taste in movies and TV, but in music they differed, almost comically so.
“Yup. Be glad you’re not riding back with me.” His insides gave a little twinge at the reminder that all he had with Dustin was this one night. And that’s why he needs to say yes. If all they had was tonight, then Wes was going to make it one they both remembered for a long, long time.

BLURB

Indy will do anything to prevent his mobster ex from finding him. Their last encounter left Indy recovering for months in the hospital, and ever since he’s become an expert at hiding in plain sight. Determined to stay under the radar, he takes on a new identity and moves from place to place. His life has no room for friendships, let alone love, so he keeps his heart firmly closed. After all, he has nothing to offer but a damaged body and a broken soul. Plus, he’s so done with men. Until he meets the man who breaks through all his defenses.

Former Army Medic Noah came back damaged from his last tour—in more than one way. Between supporting his best friend who’s struggling with PTSD, dealing with his own issues, and the stress of his job as a physician assistant, rebuilding his life seems impossible. There's little time for what Noah needs, let alone for what he wants. When he meets Indy, Noah discovers what he wants more than anything: for Indy to stay.

Indy never expected the strong, confident Noah to be as damaged and broken as himself. But what will happen if he starts letting Noah in? Indy knows he should run to protect himself and Noah.

Noah needs Indy to stay more than anything. But will what little he has to offer be enough to make Indy trust him and stay?

No Filter is a steamy M/M romance that ends with a HFN, but with the promise of a HEA. It’s the first book in the No Shame Series, and is not a stand-alone novel. It contains hot sex, a hint of a ménage, lots of talk about hot sex, flashbacks of said hot sex, and…Oh well, you get the idea. Also: trigger warning for mentions of sexual abuse.

Picture
When I read the blurb for this one, I don’t think I have replied saying I would review faster… and I am so pleased that I did, as I sat reading this on my kindle, hardly putting it down.  I will also say that the author has added in the blurb that this is part of a series, so be prepared that this book ends on a HFN, but there is another book to follow with a sub character from this book.

Indy has found the best way ever to hide in plain sight, and things are going well until he decides he is going to get some food, and then everything goes horribly wrong, and Indy ends up in the ER with Josh (Noah’s best friend who suffers from PTSD), and then he meets Noah.  Indy is Noah’s patient, but that doesn’t stop him taking a good long look at Indy.  However, there are big secrets of both sides, and neither are sure about the other.

For obvious reasons, Indy doesn’t want to stay in hospital, and Noah and Josh persuade him to go home with them to recuperate from the concussion he received in the store.  While Indy is staying with Noah and Josh, you begin to learn more of their story, and how they seem to be a couple, but aren’t a couple and the reasons why.

Over time, Indy grows closer to both men, and longs to stay with them both as for once he feels safe while he is with them, but can he do that?  Indy is hiding a massive secret, and to me he keeps quiet I think to protect both Josh and Noah, but his feelings for Noah are beginning to overwhelm him, and his run instinct begins to rear it’s ugly head.

As you read through the book, it does indeed have some hot sex, definitely lots of talk about hot sex, but it does also mention sexual abuse with Indy, which may be a trigger for some people.  I really loved this book, and cannot wait for the second book to come out, which will be based with Josh from this book. This series, if it continues with such a fantastic storyline, will be one that I will be adding to my read again list.

EXCERPT

Dressed in a T-shirt and flannel PJ bottoms, Indy made his way downstairs. Autumn had started, setting the trees in the yard on fire in an explosion of red, orange, and yellow, and bringing cold nights, but downstairs it was comfortably warm. Noah was reading the paper in his usual spot, but Josh was nowhere to be seen. “Morning,” Indy said, always a bit shy at first when it was only him and Noah. “Hey. How are you feeling?” Noah never failed to ask Indy this, and it wasn’t a polite question. “Good. Haven’t my felt my ribs in two days, so I’m officially pain free.” Indy grabbed a bowl from the cabinet. “Perfect. We’ll cut off your cast today. I didn’t think you’d want to do an official hospital visit for that, right?” Indy shook his head, carefully cutting a banana on a cutting board with one hand and putting it in the bowl. He took yogurt from the fridge. “Not if I can avoid it.” “Well, you’re lucky you have a highly skilled medical professional at your disposal, who’s willing to do a house visit.” Indy grinned as he sprinkled crunchy granola on top of his yogurt. “Don’t know about the highly skilled part, but at least he’s free.” “That hurt.” A smile tugged at the corners of Noah’s mouth. “My price just went up.” “Double times nothing is still nothing, you do realize that?” Indy took a bite of his breakfast. He loved these verbal matches with Noah almost as much as not having to worry about what to eat for breakfast every day. “Who says it was free to begin with? I only offered my skilled services, never said they were free.” “So what’s your price?” Indy asked, expecting Noah to launch another joke. “I want you for the entire day,” Noah said. Indy frowned, quickly chewing to empty his mouth. “What do you mean?” Noah reached out and circled Indy’s good wrist with his right hand, gently pulled until Indy was standing between his legs. “It’s my day off, and Josh has some special therapy session, so he’s gone all day. I want to spend the entire day with you, and you have to do exactly what I tell you.”
