Craving Stains by Alina Popescu Cover

Synopsis

Wynn Brenwood has been trapped by his mother since birth, shut away in a sterile, hospital-like apartment.

Is it her desire to keep him safe that sees him locked up in his pristine cage? Or are her motives less innocent and well-intentioned?

Wynn longs to break free to experience the world he sees beyond his window.

Desperate to escape, he meets Doyle, a handsome, leather-clad, and enigmatic stranger.

But is Doyle real, or is he just a figment of Wynn’s imagination?

Picture
Wynn has been locked away since his birth in a sterilized apartment by his crazy mother. She has always claimed it was to keep him safe in his hospital like cage or are her intentions less motherly and more selfish? All Wynn ever thinks about is to escape his mothers clutches and be free for the very first time in his life. He meets the beautiful and sexy stranger, Doyle but now Wynn starts thinking could he be real or something his mind has conjured up?

I so enjoyed this short story by Alina as she keeps you guessing is Doyle real or the very creative imagination of a guy locked up his entire life by his mother. Whether he's real or not, the hot encounters were mind blowing and you are rooting that he's real for Wynn's sake. I liked that Alina has created something so very different from the other MM novels which was a huge delight to read. This mother OMG how she beat the system in making everyone think that Wynn has mental issues but it's actual her that is nuts. Will Wynn defeat his crazy mother and escape and experience the outside life for the very first time? Will the mother gets what's coming to her? Is Doyle real as Wynn needs someone finally in his court?

This novel was a complete joy to read as Alina takes us on a new type of journey. The way she created the characters, especially Wynn was just simply some brilliant writing. How the author keeps us guessing if Doyle is real and how exactly they meet is some of the best writing I have come across in awhile. I have to personally thank the author, Alina Popescu for writing a brilliant, steamy and thought provoking novel....Craving Stains. I highly and I mean highly recommend this novel to everyone as you will not be disappointed in the least!!!

I MUST have fallen asleep at some point, Wynn thought. He must have slid into this dream, surely, as that was the only explanation for the room he was currently in. A bed with dark silk sheets took up most of the room, flanked by two nightstands. A stained pizza box was thrown on one of them. On its path to the nightstand, the box had knocked down a can of soda, the liquid a messy stain on the carpet. Clothes were piled up all over the chair and desk next to the window. Wynn would guess there was a pretty old laptop under that messy pile of garments, but he couldn’t be sure.

The door was flung open and a dark shadow entered the room. As it approached Wynn, he could tell it was a man. Tall, dark, and generally huge. Wynn gripped the window pane he was leaning against. He lifted his gaze to the man’s face, and a sly grin greeted him. The man’s dark brown eyes swam with mischief, and his full lips parted to reveal a bright smile. He was breathtakingly gorgeous, and Wynn suddenly found it hard to breathe. He stalked closer and Wynn finally noticed what he was wearing: combat boots, black leather pants, and an old leather jacket over his bare upper body. Muscles bulged under his olive skin, and Wynn couldn’t suppress the urge to lick his lips, his nostrils flaring at the stranger’s spicy, masculine scent.

“And who might you be? All alone here in my room. That’s not a very safe place to be in, kid,” the man warned in a deep rumble.

Goose bumps quickly covered Wynn’s skin from his neck to his shoulders and down his arms. He blinked a few times, trying to remember his name and to get some words out. The man’s reached out to his face, cupping it. His thumb brushed Wynn’s cheek, and he swore he could have swooned at the touch. His very first touch from someone who was not a doctor or his mother.

“I... I... sorry, I don’t know how I got here,” he whispered. “I’m Wynn.”

“Doyle,” the man said firmly, right before his lips crushed Wynn’s in a bruising kiss.

Wynn gasped and clung to the stranger’s leather jacket, distracted by the surprisingly soft material. A warm tongue pushed past his lips and found his own, swirling around it. Wynn’s knees went weak, and he whimpered. He was falling, and embarrassment was his only emotion. Strong arms caught him. Doyle chuckled, and Wynn felt the tremors in his body.Well, at least I can amuse the man.

“Feeling okay, Wynn? You look like you’re about to faint like a teenage girl after her first kiss.”

Doyle’s teasing should have embarrassed him further, but the man’s voice made Wynn shiver, heat pooling in his groin, his stomach twisting painfully.

“Hey, stay with me,” Doyle demanded, shaking him a little. As Wynn was still having a little trouble breathing properly and holding himself up, the stranger helped him to the bed, pushing him down to sit on it.

“That couldn’t have been your first kiss,” Doyle said, arching an eyebrow and pushing back a little to give Wynn a once over. “I know it’s my birthday, but did they pick up a virgin for me?”

“Pick up a virgin?” Repeating Doyle’s words didn’t help him much, but Wynn still felt like saying it over and over again. What was the man talking about? “I am a virgin, but no one picked me up. Like I said, I don’t know how I got here.”

Queen of Procrastination: Top 5 Activities that I Label as Research

Authors need to do their research. This is a rule I live by. I like to research places, myths, ideas, people, characters, meaning and history of names, historic events… You name it, I’ll research it and try to use it to make my story better. While no one can really fault an author for spending ridiculous amounts of time researching, there is a rather fine line between research and wasting time. Sparkly details easily distract and I am a pro at crossing that line and making excuses for my procrastination habits. I brush it all off as research, but let’s face it! Sometimes I just muck about…

Watching videos on YouTube – this is by far the biggest time waste for me! Sometimes it’s because I want to see a certain person and observe their gestures, grimaces, and way of speaking. Other times it’s a video of a place I want to visit, or on an issue I am building a story around. Either way, I get distracted and end up watching vids for a couple of hours when thirty minutes would have been quite enough.

This is genuine research! Watching Steven Retchless dance because he was the inspiration for Blake from Flawless Design helped a lot! Then again, two-three videos would have been enough. Watching all of his vids a few times, then more from other dancers… not so much helpful as it was distracting. Plus, I published that short story a year and a half ago! It’s safe to say I no longer watch the vids for research.

Writers’ Groups – This is the place to ask questions, debate ideas, share facts… pretty much interact with other writers, get support, and stay motivated. We all know we end up posting 300 comments on a thread when we’ve stopped debating the topic by comment 5. We digress, joke around, get distracted and forget what the question was to begin with.

Wikipedia – Wikipedia is where I start my research on a lot of subjects. I fact check with other sites, articles, and books, but this is a great resource. I use it to research obscure gods and beings, ancient cultures, myths and legends, history of faraway places, geographical details… in short, everything. The problem with Wikipedia is that all other related subjects are a click away. So… I want to know more about Tiamat, and from there I end up researching ancient Sumerian beasts, names of fallen angels, myths about dragons… All I needed were some ideas and facts on Timat! Sure, I will use everything else later, but I so didn’t need it yet! And besides, by the time I am using the info, I will have probably forgotten half of it and will start researching the topic again.

Reading – this activity makes every writer better at their craft. And sometimes books in your genre or on a certain topic or exploring a certain setting are the best research you can do. I read books, manga and other types of graphic novels. Then I move on to see the movie, or anime, or TV series adaptation. And let’s face it, finishing 4 books in a week is not really a requirement for my research. Three of those books were on unrelated topics. And yeah, that entire anime series wasn’t necessary either.

Browsing photos – I am visual and I need to see photos of places, characters, or events. I also randomly browse photos because they inspire me. Once, this photo of a bunch of trees with bright yellow leaves, half of which had fallen, covering the ground, inspired a whole story. Did I really need to browse ten million photos of Gackt to finish Shiki’s story, Strength to Let Go? Probably not, but I still did it!

Does it sound like I waste a lot of time? Yeah, that’s because I do. Sure, I am harsher with myself than I should be, but I still think I am the Queen of Procrastination. And don’t even bring up the topic of my search or browsing history! No one wants to go there, no one. ;)

Irus Beaumont, cornerback for the Highlanders, has an issue with his nemesis: wideout for the Pirates, Jackson McCoy. Partly jealous over Jackson’s skill and ability to scrub coverage, Irus also struggles against an unbearable attraction to the receiver. Firmly ensconced in the closet, Irus also has a no football player rule, leaving his desires for Jackson unfulfilled. Anti-gay sentiment in the league keeps Irus closeted, even though he’d rather be out and proud.

When Jackson McCoy suffers a gay bashing at the hands of his team mates after winning the national championship, he finds himself traded to the Highlanders. Spring training brings out Jackson’s competitive nature, eliciting the aggression of his new team’s cornerback, Irus Beaumont.

In practice, Irus hurts Jackson badly. The injury places Jackson on the reserve roster. Jacks has plenty of time to contemplate his life, career, and his attraction to the sexy cornerback. Off to Orlando for the best rehab where guilt inspires Irus to call him every evening, Jackson can’t stop thinking about Irus, or what the season holds for his team.

GMR 5 STAR REVIEW!!!

The Highlanders cornerback, Irus Beaumont has a huge problem with his enemy, Jackson McCoy the Pirates wide out. His problems with Jackson is part jealousy of his talent but also his huge attraction to the football player.

Jackson McCoy has endured gay bashing from his team mates after winning the national championship and finds himself traded to the Highlanders. Jackson finds himself very competitive in the new team with the hot cornerback, Irus Beaumont. In practice Irus hurts Jackson badly and he's forced to leave for Orlando for rehab. Irus guilt forces him to call Jackson every night and the guys can't stop thinking of each other.

When Jackson returns home from rehab, the guys don't want to come out just yet and Jackson wants desperately to protect Irus from the severe gay bashing that occurs in the football league. They begin their lives on a journey together that will take them on unbelievable highs and some complicated obstacles that they need to work together on. I enjoyed this story very much as it had dealing with ones sexuality and how with the help of the other partner he was able to deal with coming out. It was so beautifully written with brilliant characters. I recommend this novel highly!!!

Excerpt:

The sun shines brilliantly for a spring day in the Pacific Northwest. The warmth is surprising but welcome. The natural grass sparkles as bright and beautiful as a well-manicured golf course. The field’s just waiting to be torn up by a bunch of football-playing foster kids. I’m a little nervous. Not sure what to expect since I’ve never done one of these events. Coach Daily said I’d have a lot of fun, and the kids are great. So here I am.  “Irus, my man! How you been?” A portly black man named Walter advances on me, his cultured Southern accent out of place in the northwestern environment.  “Not too bad,” I say.  “Tough watchin’ those Pirates steal that championship, eh?” Smooth. Dig where it hurts, Walt. Yeah, we all know Walter Park. He’s been around football for a lot of years. No one takes offense at his blunt remarks. The man tells it like it is and sometimes brutally. Today he’s being kind. Sort of.  “Well, you know how it is, shit continues to happen,” I say. “We’ll get ’em next season.”  Walter is a big former defensive lineman. When I say he’s big, I mean he’s gotten larger than when he was playing. I make the mistake of offering to shake the man’s hand. Two sweaty slabs of meat engulf my lone hand. He pumps wildly and leaves me feeling like I’ve got rhino cum all over my palm. When he’s not looking, I swipe my hands down the side of my sweatpants.  “Well, we got some great kids for you to work with, Irus. A great bunch of boys.”  “That’s cool.”  “I’m gonna hook you up with one of the organizers of the event. He’s a wide receiver. Give a defense/offense kind of perspective. Just teach the kids some fundamentals. How to hold the ball, a little pass and catch, nothing too in-depth. Mostly, we need you guys to be role models. Help inspire these kids. Lift them up. Some come from sketchy backgrounds.”  Walter gives me a look, like I’d understand, but my home was never sketchy. The neighborhood maybe, but not the home. A rock-solid foundation. Not traditional, though. Two parents who still love and cheer me on but had nothing to do with the raising of me. My Auntie Linda and Uncle Clyde

raised me. He’s a high school football coach, and she’s an English teacher. The summers were spent with my Auntie Beulah in the city. She got me out of the dusty suburbs and introduced me to a whole new way of thinking. Beulah’s the reason I don’t judge people. Well, I try not to judge people. I certainly don’t blame my parents for giving me up. They gave me to Linda and Clyde, who wanted kids but couldn’t have any of their own. Auntie Linda said it was God making everything right. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a loving family.  “I’m just waiting for your receiver to show up. Then I’ll take you to your kids.” Walter peers around, looking for someone.  I follow his glance, not sure who I should be on the lookout for, when I see Jackson McCoy. Lord, why do you always have to test me here?  Damn, McCoy looks fine. Blond hair reflects the sunlight. The strands lift lightly in the breeze. He’s laughing, joking around with some people from the charity organization. He’s always laughing. I see him on the sidelines all the time. A smile. A laugh. Even when they’re down on points. My gaze wanders to his ass, snug in faded, torn blue jeans. Tattoos peek out of short sleeves and muscles stretch the thin fabric of his T-shirt. Butterflies hatch in my stomach. No, this isn’t good. Not here in front of all these kids. Jesus, he makes me antsy. When I’m antsy, I get angry and stubborn. Auntie Linda says so all the time.  Jackson McCoy turns my way. Big aviator glasses hide his eyes, but bruises form halos behind them, and his nose looks broke. He looks like he’s been playing against the defensive line and someone’s earholed him. With a nod to the guy next to him, he makes his way over to me and Walter.  “Hey, Walt,” he calls.  “Jackson, my boy, glad to have you back. You know Irus Beaumont? It’s his first time here. I was hoping you’d help him out with the kids. You know their trust issues.”  “Hey, Iris, how you doing?” My reflection plays in his mirrored aviators.  “It’s I-rus. Rus. Man, do you have a problem?”  A shining grin breaks his face. I feel awash in it, and it pisses me off.  “Come on, boys. Let’s work together all nice like, okay?” Walter gives me a stern look like it’s all my fault this guy continues to antagonize me. He double-checks me, waiting for a response, before he feels comfortable turning away. I get the feeling he’s in a hurry.  “Sure, Walter. I’ll play nice.” The words nearly stick in my throat.  “Good, good. All right now, boys, I gotta run and hook up some more players. Jackson, you know your group. Show Irus here the ropes. Bye, y’all.”  Walter takes off at a good clip for a fat man, his dark skin sweating in the sunlight, absorbing all the heat. Jackson begins to walk in the opposite direction, and I rush to catch up, getting a nice shot of his ass once more. I resist the urge to smack his ass. Instead, I drop a bit of a shoulder into him to check him up. Just like I do on the field. He takes the impact and rolls with it, not taken off his feet.  It was just a baby hit. Just saying hello. His lack of reaction irks me a little.

Title: Secret
Author: Kindle Alexander
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: Summer 2015

Tristan Wilder, self-made millionaire and devastatingly handsome CEO of Wilder-Nation is on the verge of a very lucrative buyout. With tough negotiations ahead, he's armed with his acquisition pitch, ready to launch the deal of a lifetime. There’s just one glitch. The last thing he expects is to fall for the hot business owner he's trying to sway.

Dylan Reeves, computer science engineer and founder of the very successful social media site, Secret, is faced with a life-altering decision. A devoted family man with three kids and a wife, Dylan has been living a secret for years. Fiercely loyal to his convictions, his boundaries blur after meeting the striking owner of the corporation interested in acquiring his company. For the first time in his life, reckless desire consumes him when the gorgeous computer mogul makes an offer he can't refuse.

After a few minutes of staring at Dylan, who hadn’t looked his way since he entered the conference room, Tristan cleared his throat, stopping the flow of the presentation. “Can you all give me a few minutes alone with Mr. Reeves?”
He could feel every eye turned his way. Dylan was slower to respond. He’d been reading from the contract and lifted his head, business clearly on his mind. But the minute their gazes met, Tristan got why Dylan had avoided eye contact. His gaze held a mixture of both heat and need. Sparks flew between the two of them and Tristan smiled.
“You heard him,” Landry said and began shooing everyone out. As the last person left, Landry came to the center of the table, standing between the two of them. He clearly thought Tristan’s request hadn’t included him.
“Landry, I need a private discussion with Mr. Reeves,” Tristan said, rising from his seat at the end of the table. Landry came immediately to him, standing in front of him, blocking Dylan from seeing or hearing anything he said.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Landry whispered so quietly Tristan barely heard him. “We almost have them, I can see it.”
Tristan cut his eyes over to Landry’s and motioned with his head for him to move along out the door with everyone else. Landry’s brow furrowed and he started to shake his head. Tristan stared at him with intense attitude until he finally left the room. Tristan had no doubt he’d stand right outside that door. There wasn’t too much of Wilder, Inc. that Landry wasn’t included in, and he certainly wouldn’t like being put out of a meeting he’d orchestrated. Tristan moved to a chair directly beside Dylan who hadn’t uttered a single word since his request for privacy.
“You look nice today,” Tristan said quietly, smiling as Dylan’s cheeks grew red.
“Is that why you made everyone leave?”
“No, of course not. I could have just told you later, but that whole look’s perfect on you. The hair’s hot. Pinstripes fit your frame remarkably well. You look taller, more intimidating. Great look for negotiations or the cover of GQ. You could do both.” Tristan scooted closer. “Did you get my flowers?” he asked even quieter.
“I did. Thank you, but that was a risky move,” Dylan said, clearly ignoring the compliment.
“I wrote and sealed the card myself. What did you do with the flowers?” Tristan leaned forward, then moved in a little more, smelling Dylan’s cologne. That had Dylan pushing back in his chair.
“I gave them to the concierge that helped me this morning,” Dylan answered and then backtracked. “I didn’t think I’d be in my room very much and didn’t want them to go to waste.”
“I figured you’d do something like that. It’s why I picked those colors. So that means you’re coming with me tonight?” Tristan asked, his eyes still focused directly on Dylan’s.
“We’ll see how things go today. I’m not sure about all this. You lowballed me and I was just reading about the staffing…” Dylan started, but Tristan lifted a hand to Dylan’s lips to stop his words. He let his fingers linger as he spoke.
“I don’t want to talk business yet. I honestly was only informed of the changes to personnel when I walked in today. From this point forward, you and I will decide how this sale goes, no one else, but before we do, I want to put personal before business because they are two separate entities between us. Will you please go with me tonight? I need to cancel some things if you’re not coming,” Tristan added at Dylan’s skeptical look.

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.

Outside of Collins safe room with his sexy roommate, the worlds a very dangerous place for him as his college mates, his Catholic family and friends think he is straight. The only other person inside Collins safe world is Tanner his very sexy roommate. One night as they crossed from friends to lovers , Collin knew that there was no going back and the reality of anyone finding out was the most terrifying aspect of his life. Tanner has not lived so safe, not the way that Collin has. He is not use to this secret double life as he wants to show the world his beautiful lover but Collin has so much to loose or does he?

Their love started in their college dorm room one night that they share as roommates and Collin loves keeping Tanner all to himself in the safe world that he has created. This causes some problems between the guys as Tanner wants their love to grow outside of their room but Collin is just too afraid of being found out. When Collin finally realizes that Tanner is worth the risk, an accident happens that forces him too anyways.

I loved how the story started with just them as roommates and they fell for each other and the passion between Collin and Tanner was so incredibly hot. This was such a beautiful and yet realistic view of many gay relationships and the author captured it brilliantly. I thought the huge difference in their upbringing was so well written and set up the characters perfectly for this beautiful love story. This was my first novel by this author and I greatly enjoyed it. Her writing flowed so beautifully from page to page and the intense chemistry and the love between these guys was the absolute best. I found myself rooting for their love and not wanting this love story to ever end. I highly recommend Moment of Impact for everyone who enjoys a great love story between two beautiful men!!!

Collin is slowly getting closer to Tanners friends, this world is new for him and he has to take baby steps. Collin is finding it hard not to be jealous as Tanner's ex-boyfriend is not making it very easy with his aggressive flirtation and then seeing Tanner in an embrace with Wendy. After seeing this he makes a rash decision that just might be too damaging for the relationship to survive.

I am loving this series very much and book 2 was even more thrilling if that was even possible. It was so sweet and beautiful to see the amazing connection that these boys share. I love how the author wrote about the feelings that Collin was having with coming out as this is a very difficult time for some gay men. The author told it so realistically and it was so spot on. The very real feelings and jealousy that face Collin was some of the best writing that I have had the pleasure to read. The author writes in such a way that you truly feel that you know or once knew these men.

I enjoyed the sub-characters even though at times it was difficult to read when you see the angst that Collin went through. This is some brilliant writing and the pages flow so well together. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book...Moment of Truth and I also recommend you read Moment of Impact. You won't be disappointed in this beautiful series.

Edward Grey is a medical student by day, necromancer by night. He lives alone with the first zombie he ever raised, his childhood cat, Boo. Edward’s life is simple: studying medicine, training his necromantic powers with his mentor, Mariel, and having weekly dinners with his parents. When he finds a very attractive corpse in a park and brings it home to reanimate, he creates a sassy, free-willed zombie who believes Edward is the one who murdered him.

With no memory of his former life, Edward names the zombie Kit and tries to win his trust. Kit slowly adjusts to his new un-life with Edward’s help, though he’s still suspicious of Edward’s role in his death and is convinced that Edward is hiding his former identity. Edward is very attracted to Kit, but understands why Kit doesn’t trust him. As they become closer to one another, Kit turns to Edward for comfort and love. The fragile trust they’ve built together will be tested when Kit unexpectedly regains his memory and seeks revenge on his murderers.

GMR 5 STAR REVIEW!!!

Edward Grey is a medical student and lives with the first zombie he has ever raised, his cat Boo. Edwards life is simple, well to him its simple, studying medicine, working on his necromantic powers and the weekly dinners with his family. Edward stumbles across a hot but dead corpse in the park and he is so taken with his beauty that he has to do something for the poor guy.

Kit was murdered and left to die in a park and then Edward comes across his dead body and takes him home and turns him into his very own zombie. Something strange happens that Edward has never seen in another zombie before. Kit can talk, think and has a personality and man this zombie's personality is hilarious and quite demanding. Kit is not like any other zombie and Edward is thinking OMG what have I gotten myself into with this hot zombie and his very high maintenance ways.

I absolutely love all MM zombie stories and I was so intrigued with My Zombie Boyfriend as it so different from all the others. Yes there is gore of course, come on you need some gore in a zombie story, and the best ever humour and a sweet connection between Edward and Kit. The sub-characters of Edwards parents and his mentor Mariel was some great added characters that I thought flowed so well with the story. I was so pleased with the writing style of T. Strange and the brilliant story that she created for us and the way she brings these characters to life..no pun intended (lol) was just the best ever. I highly recommend My Zombie Boyfriend to everyone, even if you have never read a zombie story before make sure to read this one as you will not be disappointed.

Shopping with Kit was a nightmare.

I expect my clothes to cover publicly unacceptable bits, keep me warm, and protect me from the environment. That’s about all I require of them.

No. Kit was into Fashion. With a capital F. He looked at racks of shirts that, color aside, all seemed identical to me. He kept staring at the labels.

I got more than a little impatient. It had been a long day. Not to mention my long night raising the temperamental dead. “Kit,” I groaned, “money is not an issue. Just pick whatever you want and I’ll buy it for you. I literally do not care how much it costs.”

Kit’s mouth fell open in a perfect, sexy ‘O’ of exaggerated horror. “You think I’m looking at the prices? Oh, Edward. That’s so cute.”

He thought I was cute? I knew he was teasing me, but I still liked hearing him say it.

My headache was back. This seemed to be a trend with Kit around. If he wasn’t looking at the prices, what was taking him so long? I took a deep, soothing breath. On the plus side, Kit had obviously relaxed since being out in public. I had heard of retail therapy but never before witnessed its effect.

He was practically glowing as he chattered on about the relative merits of this and that brand, designer and logo. It was a soothing wash of words that meant absolutely nothing to me. So I nodded, smiled, and tried not to focus on how pretty his mouth was, the way his hands seemed to hang in the air when he spoke, how amazing his hair looked—even in the terrible mall lighting.

It was a good thing he was so pretty, or I probably would have killed him and left. It would be so easy, too. One word and he would collapse,

his reanimated essence disappearing while I walked out of the store and back into my nice, normal medical student/necromancer life.

ABOUT THE BOOK

CoverTitle: Un-Expected Series: Left at the Crossroads #1 Author: Lisa Worrall Length: 43,654 words/182 Pages Published Date: February 25, 2014 Blurb: Little Mowbury is a sleepy English village deep in the Cotswolds. The kind of village where you’re only a local if your lineage can be traced back to the dinosaurs. Where you can find everything in the single shop from morning newspapers to dry-cleaning, and getting your shoes mended. And, of course, where everybody knows everybody else’s business. It’s easy to find… you can’t miss it… just ask anyone and they’ll tell you… “It’s left at the crossroads.” After being dumped on graduation day by the love of his life, Harry Boyd, Micah Lewis returned to the sleepy village he grew up in. Living next door to his mother wasn’t his best idea, granted, but when your heart was broken, there really was no place like home. Six years later, secure and content in his job as midwife for a local birthing centre, the last person he expected to move into Lilac Cottage across the street from him was Harry Boyd. Seeing Harry again sends Micah into a tailspin and opens wounds he thought had long since healed. Although, Harry himself isn’t the only issue Micah has to face. That would be Harry’s very beautiful and very pregnant partner, Selena. But is everything as it seems?
Picture
Micah is a midwife, sweet and quite funny. He has rebuilt his life after his boyfriend ended the relationship at their college graduation. The story starts with Micah delivering his friends Sarah six baby. The way Harry dumps Micah after three years is quite cold and heartbreaking. Now six years later and he is content in his life when the unexpected happens. Micah and his mother visit the new neighbors to welcome them into the neighbourhood and Micah discovers it's Harry and a very pregnant woman.

Micah comes to realize that he's not over Harry as he once thought. Harry finally decides to come clean to Micah and explain why he dumped him six years ago and who the mystery woman actually is. Now that Micah knows what really happened, he and Harry try to get back what they once had as both men still have feelings for each other. Harry's past is field with heartbreaking events so the road to love again will have some obstacles. This was a very sweet novel with the meaning of what true love actually is.

EXCERPT

Micah’s pulse raced. This was it. A million thoughts flew through his mind, too fast for him to latch onto a single one. He swallowed hard as a fresh spurt of blood covered his fingertips. Glancing up at the pale face, etched in a mask of agony, frightened blue eyes staring back at him, he summoned up what he hoped was a reassuring smile. “It’s okay,” he said softly, reaching up to squeeze limp fingers. “Stay with me. We’re gonna do this together. You and me.” “You said… it would be… walk in the park.” “Well… more like a brisk jog,” Micah grinned. “Bastard.” “That’s it, get pissed off,” he encouraged, not batting an eye as he lifted his best friend's bare foot onto his shoulder. If he had time to think about it, he might have considered it quite bizarre that he was seeing quite so much of said best friend, but he was far too busy trying to deliver her baby to think about anything else. Micah swept two fingers around the perineum as another contraction hit and the baby’s head crowned for the third time. “Another push, Sarah and we'll have the head. Bear down and we can meet this beautiful boy.” “I can’t do it.” “Are you kidding me?” Micah scoffed as Sarah’s body ignored her protestations and concentrated on the job it was made to do. “You are doing it. Bear down, that’s it… keep it coming…” The contraction slowly receded and he gave her thigh an encouraging squeeze. “Fantastic job, darlin’. One more and we’ll be singing happy birthday, won’t we, Dad?” “The only thing he’ll be singing is soprano,” Sarah panted as she flopped back onto the pillow. “You touch me again and I’ll cut your dick off!” Micah bit back his snort of laughter at the understanding nod from Gary, Sarah’s adoring husband, as he smoothed her hair off her sweat-dampened forehead. It wasn’t the first time he’d heard something along those lines and he was more than certain it wouldn’t be the last. He was also fairly sure that in a couple of years Sarah would be saying the same thing again. Sarah’s belly hardened beneath his hand and he looked at the monitor as the contraction began to build strength. The baby’s heartbeat started to climb, which was perfectly normal. This was it. He felt that familiar frisson of excitement flow through him and he moistened his lips. “Okay, Sarah,” he said briskly. “I know you’re tired, but we’re nearly there. Deep breath in and push!” He kept up a steady stream of encouragement, and whooped when the baby’s head didn’t slip back down the birth canal after the next contraction. Then the head was delivered to a resounding scream from Sarah. “Sarah, honey, stop pushing. I don’t want you to tear,” Micah instructed firmly. “I need you to listen to my voice. I want you to pant, and with the next contraction we’ll have a baby.” “I can’t… I changed my mind.” “Probably should have thought of that before you had that early night, Webb,” Micah shot back. The next contraction began almost straight away and Micah briefly gripped Sarah’s knee. “This is it, baby. I want little pushes while I ease him out. That’s it… another one… fantastic, honey. Blow your breath out. Think about all the blow jobs you gave behind 4C… yes… just like that….” Micah let out another yell as two shoulders slipped easily into the world followed by the rest of Sarah and Gary’s baby boy, his Godson. Once the cord had stopped pulsing Micah clamped it and held the scissors out to Gary. “Come on, Daddy. I’ve done my part…” Gary was in a state of euphoric shock. Micah had to steady his hand as the other man cut the cord in between the clamps, and Baby Boy Webb was on his own. Micah rose with the baby in his arms and placed him on Sarah’s breast, not quite being able to join in the celebration; he wasn’t done yet. While Sarah and Gary laughed, cried and stared in exhausted amazement at their new son, Micah efficiently drew the Pitocin into a syringe and injected it into Sarah’s thigh. Not that she noticed. He shook his head with a soft smile as he placed his hand on her abdomen, waiting for the injection to take effect. In the five years he’d been one of the midwives here at Cherry Tree Birthing Centre, he didn’t think any woman had ever paid attention when he’d administered the drug designed to deliver the placenta. Thankfully the final stage of labour didn’t take long, and within twenty minutes he had weighed and discarded the disc-like placenta after checking it was intact. Turning back to Sarah, he surveyed his handiwork. “You can stop staring at my girl parts now,” Sarah said sarcastically. “You’re done down that end… get your arse further north.” “Sorry,” Micah said with a wide grin. “But I’m damn good. Not a single tear. Actually, if it weren’t for the fact that you shit yourself, you would never know you just had a baby.” “You are seriously disturbed,” Sarah shook her head and gazed back down at her son. “If Uncle Micah ever tries to tell you the story of your birth, kick him in the shins and run like hell. Mummy would like to try and retain a little dignity.” “Don’t listen to her,” Micah cooed, gently lifting the baby from Sarah’s arms. “We are going to have some serious fun, little man. I’m going to teach you all the ways to make your mummy get that crinkle above her nose when she’s piss—sorry—ticked off. I’m also going to fill you full of E-numbers, additives and preservatives, then send you home to your parents. It’s my job, no matter what Mummy says. It’s on page one of the Uncle Handbook. Right there with getting you your first lap dance when you’re twenty-one.” “He’s ten minutes old, Lewis,” Sarah griped. “Don’t start corrupting him already.” Micah chuckled softly as he gently lowered the baby into the scales. He made a note of his weight before measuring his length and his head. He completed all the tests he needed to do and updated his notes, then quickly administered the vitamin K injection, mumbling soothing noises as the baby let out a wail. With practiced ease, he fastened a nappy, and dressed the tiny boy in a vest and a baby-gro before wrapping him in the blanket Gary handed him. Picking the baby up, he dropped a gentle kiss on his soft skin and then placed him in his father’s arms. He settled himself in the chair in the corner and proceeded to finish the rest of his notes, allowing Sarah and Gary some alone time with their new son. Watching the way Sarah stared in stunned awe at the baby had Micah swallowing past the lump in his throat. She was a year older than him, and she and Gary had already been trying for three years before they moved back to the tiny village where Sarah and Micah had grown up. That had been four years ago, so it had been seven years of miscarriages and three costly IVF treatments before they were able to see the beautiful puffy little face now yawning up at them. “Look at him,” Gary grinned happily. “You’d think he’d done all the work. Who does he look like?” “You,” Sarah replied immediately. “Poor little sod… and my dad.” “He looks like Winston Churchill,” Micah piped up, not lifting his gaze from his notes. “All babies look like Winston Churchill… it’s the law.” “You’re a knob, Micah,” Sarah shot back. “I’m going to rescind the Godfather invitation if you’re not careful.” Micah closed her file and slipped his pen into the top pocket of his scrubs. Standing up he walked over to the bed and stroked a gentle finger over the baby’s downy cheek. “You can’t. I have to have some kind of reward for wiping your arse.” He leaned down and kissed her forehead softly. “He is eight and half pounds of perfect, Sare. You did good.” Raising an eyebrow he tilted his head as he gazed down at the little boy he was planning to spoil within an inch of his life. “Are you seriously going to saddle him with,” he faked a shudder, “that name?” “It was my father’s name,” Gary said firmly. “And his father’s name before him. It’s tradition.” “Then why is your name Gary?” Micah reasoned. “Doesn’t it tell you something when your own mother refused to carry on the tradition? How can you do it to him? He’s going to get his arse severely kicked his entire life.” “Shut up the two of you,” Sarah sighed heavily with a roll of her eyes. “Micah, get over it. We like it, it’s cute. Now hold your Godson… Algernon Micah Webb.” Supporting the baby’s head in the crook of his elbow, Micah kissed him softly. “Don’t worry, Algie. When you’re eighteen I’ll pay for you to get it changed.”

Even if Chase survives, that bomb has done more than rock the foundation of the popular leather club. Though I tried to provide enough details that it isn't necessary to have read that book, I cannot really call this a standalone. Tricking Chase contains an established D/s relationship, hot guys on motorcycles, an undercover DEA agent named Snake and a few visits from fan favorite Sizzling Miami characters.

The fact that Ty found Chase’s worry endearing was a glaring reminder that he was still thinking with his dick a year later. It was irrelevant that he warned Chase how dangerous staying with him would be. The boy had nowhere else to go and was riding high on hero worship and multiple orgasms. Not doing more to push Chase away was the only regret he had in life. Regretting it didn’t change anything he’d done after. In the end, nothing else mattered except seeing his collar around that slender neck and losing himself in Chase’s willing submission.

“Five minutes,” Ty agreed. Chase didn’t need further clarification. His boy scrambled up and Ty barely had time to brace before Chase was wrapped around him. Embracing didn’t come naturally to him, but then boldly asking for such an embrace didn’t come naturally to Chase. The boy found it comforting and maybe he enjoyed it, but he didn’t have to say so aloud. And maybe he didn’t look at the clock either, but then Chase’s OCD wouldn’t let him go too far over the requested time. And just maybe he would take the opportunity to nuzzle the collar he painstakingly crafted. Though he was used to welding bike frames, once they had reached their agreement, Ty knew exactly what kind of collar Chase would wear. One made from his own hands, with pieces of him carefully woven through. Every time he saw it resting around Chase's neck there was such a sense of rightness that it overrode all common sense.

Author Bio

"Wearer of Many Hats" is a title that was given to Jessie by a former employer some twenty years ago. This dubious distinction, along with the job description "everything is her fault", came after she fixed an electrical problem during her interview that the office had been having for years. After that, if anything went wrong, her coworkers immediately declared it her fault so she'd have to fix it. This position of importance inspired the owner to convert a closet into an office, thereby providing her coworkers endless opportunities to refer to her as “the girl in the closet.”

Today she is still the “Wearer of Many Hats” and her family has readily jumped on the “everything is her fault” bandwagon. Most mornings start at 5am, where she stumbles into her home office (which is step or two up from a closet) to tackle her personal email, watch gay porn and satisfy her Trivia Crack addiction. By six, she’s caffeinated and ready to take on the world. Wearing her favorite red power nightgown, she

expertly designs websites, provides SEO and social media services, freelances as a bookkeeper, cooks, cleans and writes.

Writing has been the elusive, life-long goal that seemed to be getting further away as the years went by. It took 30+ years to achieve, but she’s decided that timing is everything. The world wasn’t ready for m/m romance back then, and now that it is, the girl in the closet has finally found her writing home.

Jessie is a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics and happily ever after. She’s a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you'll find throughout her books.

Excerpt

A nervous giggle escaped him and he rolled his eyes. It was hard to keep his emotions under control. Twenty years made for one long wait to finally breach the confines of his apartment. He looked around, taking in the large, pure white room with its scarce, minimalist furniture. The wall made of nothing but floor to ceiling windows was his favorite part. Sure, it threw away anything from the sun that was not pure light—UV filters, air cleansing devices, and CDC grade measures all made sure no microbes or bacteria ever penetrated this cage—but it was still his only direct connection with the outside world.

Wynn snorted, thinking of how unnecessary it would all become the moment he stepped outside and returned home alive. Only then would these absurd measures his mother had taken be forgotten. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He had to prove to her he could stay healthy and walk outside. He was tired of the Maid Bot 2000, his computer, his TV, and the books he kept buying. He supposed he should be thankful for the ‘Rise of the eBook’, yet he could not love them, not really, not like a normal reader. The TV programs, the news and stories on the Internet, the photos and videos of faraway places, the gripping stories in the books he read, they were all cruel reminders of the life he’d been denied. A normal human being, even if they never did go to that exotic beach on the other side of the world, still knew they could. They weren’t stranded, abandoned in their own home, with the somber doctor that came to inspect every inch of Wynn’s body as their sole contact with the outside world, other than his mother of course.

He perked up when he heard the click of the outside door opening. It unlocked when a certain code was pressed into the keypad on its right side. Wynn had seen the process through the security system; he’d never been on that side of the apartment. His mother’s high heels clicked on the floor, the hiss of dry showers cleansing her followed. Ten meters of different heads pushing air and heuristic nanobots, mixed into the traditional bacteria- and virus-killing formulae. It was all the rage in disease control: microscopic machines programmed to guess what would make a potentially deadly intruder, and isolate the tiny killers before they could be spread. Wynn imagined it cost a lot, but there was nothing his mother wouldn’t do to keep him alive. To what end, he could not guess. Maybe she just enjoyed having him a prisoner.

A bright smile curved his mouth, this time reaching his eyes. Wynn did not have to fake his pleasure at seeing his mother; it was as natural as it could be this time around. She was taking him outside. He supposed it made sense to even think he might love her one day. If he got to enjoy a normal life, experiencing the outside world, Wynn was ready to forget everything about how she’d kept him locked up and alone for as long as he could remember.

She walked to the armchair he was sitting on, taking step after stiff step. Wynn had always thought he hated the sound of her heels hitting the marble floor, but today it heralded amazing new adventures, so he smiled and stood up. She took his hands in hers, giving them a little squeeze and gracing him with a tight smile.

Moira Brenwood was a beautiful woman, he knew. She was tall and slim, always full of grace, perfect in every detail, from the way her hair was pulled up into a messy bun, to the impeccable line of her eyebrows, and the flawless makeup.

“Good morning, darling. How are you today?” Her voice echoed in the large room, coming back to him with the same rehearsed warm notes.

“I’m great, Mother. Let’s go!” he urged, shaking her hands and chuckling.

“Wynn! Where are your manners?” she hissed through clenched teeth. He saw the disapproval in her look and the way her lips were pressed together. Moira didn’t take too kindly to rude people.

He cringed and gave her an apologetic smile. Damn it, don’t screw this up! Don’t give her any reason to take back her promise of allowing you outside!

BLURB:

Life isn't always fair, and that’s something that Llewellyn Gardner knows about first hand. His life was on the fast track until one night of extreme passion changed everything.

Now eight years later, he’s still living with the aftershocks of that night. Everywhere he turns or runs, there’s another reminder. What the hell do you do when you try to drown your demons only to find out they can swim?

Shane Smith, Jr. owner of Smith Construction, could see the emotional turmoil within his new employee — it’s why he hired him. There was something about the gorgeous, misunderstood man with the overly expressive eyes that came to their small town with a past no one was willing to overlook. Shane could see the good in Llewellyn, and those eyes of his were a clear window to his soul. Shane wasn't going to let the man live a future of solitude because his past had been plagued with deceit.

Llewellyn wasn’t sure what to think about Shane. After years of protecting himself from being tricked twice, he was now faced with worry again. What would happen to him if Shane didn’t believe his truth, and walked away? Llewellyn wasn’t sure he’d be able to survive being left alone. Again.

Llewellyn Gardner knows all to well that life isn't always fair. His life was going great until one fateful night of passion halted his future. After 8 years he's still dealing with what happened that night and everywhere he turns has huge reminders.

Shane Smith who owns Smith Construction saw the emotional state his newest employee was in and this was why he was hired as he saw through Llew's pain. Shane saw the beautiful heart in his new hire and wanted to save him and help him avoid living a lonely life due to his past. Can Llew take a chance on love and trust Shane or will the past repeat itself?

Wow A.E. Via did it again, she completely blew my mind with her latest novel and this one left me emotionally raw. It starts off with Llew being arrested and sent to prison for the rape of his underage closeted boyfriend after being caught together in a very compromising scene by his boyfriends parents. Then in prison for 8 years and being labelled a child molester even though his boyfriend was 17 and he was 18 was something he never thought he would make it through. If it wasn't for a gang leader named Ace who took care of Llew, he possibly wouldn't have made it through this horrible ordeal without his help. After his release he moves away for a new start and that's when he meets the beautiful and compassionate Shane. Their hot and steamy connection is so undeniably beautifully written and it will draw you in big time.

I can't describe enough how much this story affected me and the character of Llew and what he endured, just made me want to protect him. He's a beautiful man with a beautiful heart and soul and is so damaged from his past that it will completely break your heart. I loved that Ace came back into the story as I loved that guy and he's a great addition to the book. Moss does come back to create some drama for Llew as he's trying to start over with Shane and to leave his past behind him if that's at all possible.

The way A.E. Via brings her characters to life is just simply brilliant and how she comes up with these emotionally charged characters is quite amazing. There are some heavy emotional moments in this story that will move you beyond the tears. The hot and I mean hot sex scenes were some of the best I have ever read. Llew is the beautiful alpha and he blends so well with Shane. I just loved the writing from A.E. and I think she has even topped herself with her latest work. The way she creates such emotional characters is so beautifully done. I highly and mean highly recommend...Defined By Deceit by A.E. Via to EVERYONE!!!!!

EXCERPT:

“Jessie, did anyone come by today applying for a job?” Shane asked, bursting through the trailer door. He had one ear trained on her response while the other was tilted towards his hand-held radio, listening to his foreman’s directions to where he’d stashed the architect’s blueprints.

“Yes. Three people actually. One man and two women. I know you were hoping for more, but give it some time. We’ve only had the ad up for a couple days.” Jessie swiveled around in her chair and dug out three manila files from one of her many file cabinets. The woman was a stickler about leaving items in their assigned place. She was meticulous, and her organization skills bordered on OCD. No one dared mess with her side of the trailer. Shane’s

desk; however, had a nonexistent system. His motto was to ask someone else where something was.

“What was the guy’s name who applied?” Shane tried to sound nonchalant as he pushed aside numerous papers on his drafting table.

“Um. Llewellyn Garden… no… Gardner,” Jessie said, flipping through the application. “I flagged this one.”

“Hire him,” Shane said, hurrying back to the door, trying to hide his excitement at the possibility of seeing Llewellyn in worn jeans riding low from the weight of a tool belt hanging on his strong hips.

“Shane Jr. there’s something you should know about that applicant. I had him flagged for no hire. I mean, he has good experience and references checked out but—”

“Sounds good. Call him today before he accepts a job someplace else,” Shane said, cutting off whatever else his office manager was going to say. He was half out the door, his arms weighed down with rolls of paper. Jack was radioing him; barking about the hold up on the blue prints. “I gotta go Jess. Just call him, now.”

“Shane, there’s something you don’t know about Mr. Gard—”

Shane let the trailer door slam behind him. Jessie could go on and on about the smallest things sometimes. Not everyone was so attentive to detail. Llewellyn probably had bad handwriting and Jessie deemed him as a no hire. As long as the man worked hard and showed up every day, Shane could use him.

Lost Boys Academy 1-Orientations (Lost Boys Academy #1) by Aaron Ferrara!!!

College life was all about having some great experiences but that's so not the case for The Lost Boys Academy. Hot and troubled Jake never turns down a challenge but this one where he has to seduce the one person that could get him removed from the academy. The beautiful and in love couple, Kyle and Alex have been together for awhile but will their love for each other survive the teachings of rehabilitation from their sexual orientation? James has to work on confronting his demons! Mason the devout catholic starts to question his religion as he is surrounded by such beautiful and hot temptations at the Lost Boys Academy!!!

This is the first novella in the series and I can tell its going to be an amazing series so expect more reviews from me in this series. I was really looking forward to reading this novella as its quite different from the usual MM books as this deals with rehabilitating male gay students from their sexuality. This first installment is an introduction to the wildly interesting characters and their back-story and why they are at the academy.

I liked how the author brought these characters to life and how he took us deep into their stories and the way that they connect with each other and such diverse guys they are. Its so interesting how the school affects each character so differently. Will the academy succeed in turning these boys straight or will they fight to remain exactly who they were born to be no matter of the consequences?

I give this author, Aaron Ferrara so much credit for coming up with this very hot topic of sexual conversion and creating such a unique and wildly fascinating novella and series. I highly recommend this novel so much as it will make you think while giving you a brilliant and beautifully written story.....Lost Boys Academy!!!

“Hey, you here for the academy?” The boy took out his headphones and let them hang down to the floor. Judging from his soaking, grey athletic T-shirt and black gym shorts, he had to have been returning from a run.“Yeah,” Jimmy answered coyly. He was never good around guys he thought were cute. He glanced down at his own clothes—plain black T-shirt and dark grey pants with red, Converse high-tops. He slightly envied the anonymous boy for being able to pull off the sweaty look better than his own normal style.

“I’m Jake.”

“Jimmy.”

“Jimmy, the ginger,” Jake smiled. “Is that your natural color?”

Jimmy’s face turned red, matching his hair which made him drop his gaze down toward his feet in shame, “Yeah.”

“Cute.” Jake walked past him as he headed up the stairs.

Jimmy got a closer look at Jake before he passed by. He couldn’t deny that there was something familiar about him. Had they met before?

“Do you live in L.A.? I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere…”

“Probably,” Jake shrugged. He stopped at the top step, twisting his head over his shoulder to look at Jimmy. “It’s not so bad here, ya know.”

Jimmy raised an eyebrow, wrinkling his forehead, “Except for the fact that they want to completely change who we are and what we do.”

The devilish smirk reappeared across Jake’s face, “Who said we have to change what we do?”

Jake now stood and faced the large door at the top of the steps. He stretched his arms over his head, flexing his lean, toned arms. He then grabbed the bottom of his shirt, pulling it off and over his head, revealing a chiseled,  muscular back. He adjusted the waistband of his underwear,  unveiling the dimples in his lower back, completely visible as they peeked out right above his shorts. With his sweaty shirt, he dabbed his neck and then reached for the door in which to enter the school.

“Just as long as you don’t get caught,” Jake admitted as he walked into the premises, swaying his hips in an overconfident manner.

Good point…Jimmy muttered under his breath. He paused for a moment as the image of Jake’s perfectly-sculpted body burned into his long-term memory.

“Welcome to the academy, roomie!” Jake shouted behind him.

Jimmy snapped out of the momentary trance. Roomie? He pondered this briefly before his lips gradually formed a smile. Maybe this summer wasn’t going to be so bad after all…
