When Joel Jones finds homeless Russian, Sasha, outside his gay nightclub in Prague, he cannot find it in his heart to turn him away, so he offers him a home and a job as a dancer and stripper.

Despite a fifteen-year age gap, romance develops between them, but is interrupted when Joel has to return to England for many weeks to deal with a death in the family.

Upon Joel’s return, he is horrified to discover his business partner, Karel, has gambled away the club’s money and put them all at risk. Joel buys him out of the club, but when Karel continues to gamble, the people he owes pursue Joel for the debt instead—and they’ll stop at nothing to get paid.

Suddenly Joel and those he cares about—especially Sasha—are in danger, and Joel finds himself with no choice but to seek the help of known criminal, Vincenc Jankovic. Ensuring a happy future for himself and Sasha will mean a struggle and some difficult decisions, but Joel is determined to protect what they’ve built together.

Excerpt: “Joel?” “Uh!” Sasha’s voice startled me so much I almost tipped my chair over backward. My heart raced and I clutched the edge of the desk to steady myself. “What happened?” He reached my side and laid a hand on my shoulder. I gestured at the computer screen. “He’s dead. Karel’s dead. Someone shot him. It says ‘execution-style.’ What the fuck had he got himself into, Sasha? Huh?” I covered his hand with mine and squeezed his fingers until he let out a hiss of pain. I released him quickly. “I’m sorry, Joel.” He moved closer and pressed his body against my side, sliding his arm around my neck. “I know he was a jerk, but he was your friend once.” “I shouldn’t care after what he did. But I feel like I ought to have done something. He came to me asking for help. He looked pathetic, didn’t he? Like he had no other choice.” “Joel….” Sasha dropped to his knees and rested his hands on my thighs. “You couldn’t have helped him. He must have owed a lot of money. The same as before. Maybe you could have saved him this time, but it seems like he couldn’t stop, or didn’t want to. It wasn’t your problem. You could have lost everything to him, and that’s wrong.” “Yeah. I know.” I leaned down and kissed the top of his head. “You’re right. What would it have achieved if I gave him money? He had the sale money from his half of the club. That wasn’t peanuts. I mean, it was a lot. If he lost that and ran up more debts—” “Do they know who did it? Who killed him?” “I don’t know. I didn’t read any farther.” I scrolled down and skimmed over the rest of the article, but the police apparently had no leads and were investigating Karel’s recent activities in an attempt to find clues. I expected I would hear from the police myself before long, but there wasn’t much I could tell them. I didn’t know who Karel had played cards with, or what he’d been doing.

Meet the author:

Louise Lyons comes from a family of writers. Her mother has a number of poems published in poetry anthologies, her aunt wrote poems for the church, and her grandmother sparked her inspiration with tales of fantasy. Louise first ventured into writing short stories at the grand old age of eight, mostly about little girls and ponies. She branched into romance in her teens, and MM romance a few years later, but none of her work saw the light of day until she discovered FanFiction in her late twenties.

Posting stories based on some of her favorite movies, provoked a surprisingly positive response from readers. This gave Louise the confidence to submit some of her work to publishers, and made her take her writing “hobby” more seriously.

Louise lives in the UK, about an hour north of London, with a collection of tropical fish and tarantulas. She works in the insurance industry by day, and spends every spare minute writing. She is a keen horse-rider, and loves to run long-distance. Some of her best writing inspiration comes to her, when her feet are pounding the open road. She often races into the house afterward, and grabs pen and paper to make notes.

Louise has always been a bit of a tomboy, and one of her other great loves is cars and motorcycles. Her car and bike are her pride and joy, and she loves to exhibit the car at shows, and take off for long days out on the bike, with no one for company but herself.

It takes valor to support and love those who need it the most and never expected to receive it.

For Rivet Scalzo, returning to his childhood home after a decade was not on his list of places to go while recuperating. After nearly being blown up on a mission, Rivet is forced to deal with his PTSD and sudden deafness without help from Vigilance, the secret governmental agency he works for. He resigned himself to a lonely recovery, but, perhaps by chance, he met Blare Chaplynn, a model whose caring nature helps ease the horror of Rivet’s home life. As they grow closer, Rivet is burdened by the secrets he can’t share with the one man he grows to love.

If Blare knew a mild concussion was all he needed to meet the man of his dreams, he would have gladly accepted it long ago. He knew there was something special about Rivet when he first saw him at the park, but never guessed this man of mystery would be hiding so many secrets. Blare is forced to confront the fact that Rivet may never tell him everything, but is trust the reason Rivet is so close-lipped or is it something more?

This is a new to me author, in fact this is their first published book From the first page I was hooked, wondering what would happen, and I have to say there were lots of twists and turns to keep you enthralled.

I love both of the MC's, especially Rivet,   To me he is like a gentle giant, but one with a lot of things going on in his life, together with the secrets he has to keep, but to me I think he feels conflicted that he cannot be totally honest with Blare.

Now Blare is someone who is nobody's fool.  He knows what he wants, and he doesn't let people dictate things to him. To me he is a principled person, who stands by what he says - and this was often proven as you read the story.

Blare and Rivet meet by accident, and I have to say it was a refreshing change not to read a story where they met, went home and jumped straight into bed!!  Although both attracted to each other, it was a slow thing of getting to know each other first.

They had a lot of problems that they had to work through, and some came as a surprise even to me!! Rivet had his PTSD to contend with, but as you read it is not clear whether the treatment he was being given was helping him or making him worse.  Blare was not one to sit on the sidelines, he was constantly asking how to help Rivet when he had a flashback or more common a panic attack.

I really felt for Rivet with his home life, and often wondered how long it would be before he reacted - but he didn't.  It didn't matter what was done to him, he would not retaliate. Blare was his total saving grace, somewhere where he felt safe.

The story is totally gripping from the first page, and will keep you hooked until you finish.  I can pretty much guarantee that you will love Rivet as much as I do, and Blare too.  They are as different as chalk and cheese, but it totally works for them.

I am also so pleased that there will also be a follow on book, which the author mentions at the end - and I can't wait to read this one too.

“I told him it was a bad idea to start you so young.” She turned away from him and muttered under breath, “It’ll only cause more problems for us when he gets older, I said.”
Rivet slammed his hand down on the counter and snarled, “What problems, June, huh? What problems have I caused?” He pointed his finger at her and said through his teeth, “I have done nothing save for following the orders I’ve been given. I was told to come to this shit town and stay with my shit family until they deem me fit enough to return.” He opened his arms wide. “And here I am. So I want you to tell me what problems I’ve been causing, June.”
Her eyes narrowed to slits, and her lips pressed into a thin line. “Remember just who you’re talking to, Rookie. A buster like you needs to have respect for his superiors.”
“You were making rookie mistakes, June. They forced you to retire.”
Lightning fast, she swung her hand out to smack him across the face. He was faster. His hand tightened around her slim wrist, stopping it inches from his face. He roughly shoved her hand away and tsked. “You were always slower than me.” He turned his back on her and walked through the door to the back room marked Employees Only.
The back room was full of buckets of flowers, scraps of ribbon, and other odds and ends left over from arrangements. He paused in the room, looking for the door he knew led to the basement. He saw the door to the industrial-sized refrigerator and continued roaming the room. He skillfully weaved around vases of carnations, roses, and other flowers he didn’t know the names of. A soft smile sprung to his lips when he spotted a pot of daisies sitting happily on the counter. Gentle fingers caressed the stark-white petals before dropping away. Rivet eyed the bright yellow disk florets nestled in pure white petals. The glossy green leaves completed the innocent picture. He shook his head, battling against the memories pushing from the back of his mind.
Continuing to the door, he pushed it open and gently shut it behind him. He flicked on the light switch and descended the stairs. The basement was bare save for miscellaneous ladders and stepping stools. He walked to the nearest wall and placed a hand on it at chest height. He closed his eyes and slowly walked the perimeter of the basement, fingers trailing along the cool bricks. A few paces later, he paused and opened his eyes. He ran a finger down the left side of the brick. There was a faint click and he placed his fingers on the faux concrete face and slid them toward the right, revealing a keypad in the hollow. He reached his hand in and pressed a nine-digit code into the keypad before turning his hand palm-up and pressing his hand flat against the top of the hollowed brick. A soft blue glow pulsated before something clicked open behind him. He glanced back to see a trapdoor had opened under the stairs, a sliver of light appeared through the crack between the door and the floor. Rivet grabbed a nearby rag and wiped the fingerprint scanner and the keypad before sliding the panel shut and running his finger up the left side, locking the faux brick.
He stepped over to the trapdoor, feet making no noise as they gracefully moved around furniture. Rivet reached down and lifted the door. The hinges squeaked in protest, and he let it rest open so he could climb into the opening, dropping his bag to the tile first. He secured the door and jumped the rest of the way to the floor. The room was brightly lit by the fluorescent lights in the flooring shining off the dark walls. The subbasement was split into two sections. To one side was a dark armoire built into the wall. The doors were shut and locked; a fingerprint scanner and keypad were just to the side of it. The other section was an enclosed area that took up most of the floor, also secured by a scanner and keypad.
Rivet walked over to the armoire and typed his nine-digit code into the keypad with the knuckle of his finger. The light to the scanner flickered on. He placed his hand flat and watched the beam of light move up and down his hand. The doors of the armoire clicked and opened. There was a small flat-screen monitor on each door and one monitor settled in the middle. A small metal stool raised from the floor. Rivet sat, dropping his bag by his feet, and pulled the keyboard from under the monitor. He held down the Escape key while typing a four-character password. All three monitors flickered to life showing a plain command box with Passcode at the top and the cursor blinking below it. His fingers easily typed in a twelve-digit code.
When the computer loaded, a new message window popped up. He clicked the mouse to view it and quickly read the message:
Contact me when you get this.
—Commander D.
Rivet sighed and clicked on the contact’s name. It brought up a live video feed of a man sitting in a nondescript office, bookshelf behind him.
“Agent Scalzo,” the man’s voice was commanding and firm.
Rivet was used to the no-nonsense voice and gave him a nod. “Commander.”
“Have you settled?”
He paused a moment before answering. “Sir, civilian life and I do not agree.”
“You need to make it work.”
Rivet shook his head. “All due respect, sir, couldn’t I have been stationed elsewhere? I have told you about my family. I could have been anybody, anywhere else.”
“You are on leave and need to be who you really are, not another persona. The Council and I believed this was the best option.”
Rivet snorted bitterly and fought not to glare at his superior.
Commander Donovan narrowed his eyes. “What was that, Agent?”
He clenched his teeth. “Nothing, sir.”
He watched the commander pause a moment. “You are to pick up a package at the post office. The clerk will ask you how you are doing and tell whomever it is that you’re glad to be away from the rain in London. The package contains a secure laptop and cell phone, understood?”
“Affirmative, sir.”

WOWY 1600px FRONT (Smashwords, Amazon)-1

Author Name: Zane Riley

Book Name: With or Without You

Sequel to ‘Go Your Own Way’

Should be read in order to appreciate the books

Release Date: July 21, 2016

Blurb:

In the much-anticipated sequel to Go Your Own Way, high school seniors Lennox McAvoy and Will Osborne pick up right where they left off—navigating the tumultuous waters of a new relationship and dealing with Will’s disapproving father.

When a violent incident forces Lennox to give up his independent ways, he must come to terms with his past just as Will is grappling with his future. As Will’s college plans become reality, will Lennox have the courage to go after the opportunities he doesn’t think he deserves?

Pages or Words: 348 pages

Categories: Contemporary, Gay Fiction, M/M Romance, New Adult

Picture
I must emphasize, that you really need to read Go Your Own Way first, as this is where you get to meet Lennox and Will, and will get some background as to why things are like they are.

Now, in the first book, I did get annoyed with Lennox, as he seemed to do anything to get himself in trouble, but in hind sight I think a lot of this was due to what had happened to him in recent months, but more importantly I think he believed he was worthless and unloveable..

However, in this second book, I think it was Will that I would get annoyed with - to me, in some ways it seemed like he was trying to take over Lennox's life, or rather totally organise everything, but without asking what Lennox actually wanted.

Things are rather fraught for them both, with Will's father disapproving about their friendship and especially their relationship, on top of where Lennox was living at the time.  Things were just going along as usual, until a violent incident involving Lennox occurred.  His saviour was the last person who he thought would help him.

Lennox was taken to Will's house, and it was there that he was able to recuperate, and it is now that their relationship seems to change, but for the better.  Wills father was not pleased to have Lennox there, but I think he began to see a different person from the one usually portrayed.

As Lennox recovers, all talk turns to the colleges again, and Will is trying to decide where he wants to go, he has narrowed this down to a few choices.  Lennox on the other hand has no idea about college, or rather he doesn't bother looking as he would not be able to afford to go.

However, things happen for a reason, and although he was hurt, it seems like this was a blessing in disguise, and there are a few surprises for Lennox in the works, but will he be brave enough to attempt what others know he can do?   I really do feel for Lennox at this time, as I think he is scared of failing, but again the last person he would expect to help him does so and give him things to thing about.

This series is so different to what I usually read, but I was hooked as soon as I started reading.  I actually read Go Your Own Way and then went straight onto With Or Without You, and I was pulled straight into the story of Will and Lennox.   I can't wait for the next book to come out in the series, and that will then mean that I can go back and read these again!!

Excerpt:

The band room was empty when he pushed the door open, but the piano was set up like it was almost every afternoon these days. Only Mr. Robinette and a music stand littered with sheet music was absent.

"Hello?"

The silence struck Lennox as odd, but as he sat down he also realized how strange it was to announce himself. So much had changed since the first time he'd snuck in here to play on his own. Now he was auditioning for some college he still couldn't fathom.

To make Will happy. And maybe a little bit for himself.

"Ah, I wondered if you were going to show up."

Mr. Robinette was behind him, the door to his office now wide open. He'd taken off his tie and undone a few buttons on his shirt like he did most afternoons when they practiced.

"You just want to play it through a few times or mess around with something else?"

Lennox took a seat at the piano, but didn't both opening his bag. He'd memorized the piece he was playing by Valentine's Day and now, almost two weeks later, he could write it out measure for measure on blank sheet music. But playing it was becoming repetitive. For two hours, three times a week, almost nonstop with the same four pages and nothing else.

"I'd rather try something new. That piece is getting a little old."

Mr. Robinette smiled and pulled a chair up beside him. "I had a nightmare the other night and it was the theme song while I ran around a haunted house Scooby Doo style."

"You didn't catch a ride in the Mystery Machine, did you? I've always wanted that van."

"I've got a lunch box version of it. It doesn't fit much though because it's too narrow. Anyway, play what you want. I'll be here until about four-thirty, so it's all yours."

As Mr. Robinette returned to his office, Lennox pulled what had become his music notebook out of his bag and opened it to the latest page. He'd taken to composing during class when he should have been taking notes, especially calculus where he had no reason to pay attention anyway.

The latest page was a tune he'd come up with while the other kids had been tapping their pencils and erasing answers. Every moment of his life carried a rhythm, a melody, and an emotion he could create with, and his notebook was becoming a testament to that. He played through everything he'd jotted down over the past few days, but after several rounds he kept coming back to one. It was a piano version he'd tried—and mostly failed—to create of one of the songs Will had played on a loop a few weeks ago.

"I'm getting ready to lock up!"

Mr. Robinette's voice carried out of the office and into the band room. A few minutes and several jingles of Mr. Robinette's keys later, the office door was shut and Lennox was closing the cover on the keys.

"That last piece you were playing, was it a cover?"

Lennox shrugged as they headed for the door.

"It was supposed to be. Didn't sound much like the song."

"Well, the others did. They were all really good, even the ones that weren't covers."

"Uh, thanks."

Lennox watched him at the door to the parking lot for a moment. He'd been a great help over the last month—all year if Lennox was honest. Mr. Robinette had believed in him in his own way since school had begun, and thanks to him he had a decent shot at this audition.

"Thanks for… all of this. I actually feel like—just thanks."

Mr. Robinette gave him a genuine smile and patted him on the shoulder.

"You're very welcome. Let me know how it goes when you get back, okay? I'm rooting for you. Got all of my fingers and limbs crossed. You deserve the chance. Don't doubt that or yourself."

"I-I won't."

It was funny to have so many people believing in him after so long. Happiness was a strange feeling as well. Until he'd let Will into his life he couldn't remember how to capture such a feeling in his chest and keep it there.

5 STAR REVIEW:

I totally love listening to Alexander Collins on audio, there is something about his voice that draws you into the story, and also means you get annoyed when you have to stop!!

We meet Noah when he awakens in hospital after an accident, and he is confused, and wants Clark with him.  When Clark arrives, the story switches from Noah present and Clark past, but you don't lose what is happening with the story, it just explains what has been happening and how the two met.

To confuse everything further, it soon becomes apparent that Noah seems to have lost the last three years of his life... but what happened to make him do this? Clark finally tells Noah the truth of what happened three years ago, and as Clark starts to explain Noah suddenly remembers everything, and inside he is shouting "No, no, no", as the realisation sets in on what he had done., and the fact that these last three years had been hell.

When Noah is released from the hospital, he and Clark go to the house they had brought together, and they actually sit and talk over what happened three years ago, and Noah soon realises that Clark is blaming himself for everything. Can he convince Clark that it wasn't his fault, that they were both at fault really - Noah for doing what he did and Clark for not staying to talk things through.

Things seems to be going well, but then things go awry when Ben (Noah's brother), arrives at the house. Can their relationship survive the revelation that Ben reveals??

5 STAR REVIEW:

Surprisingly, this is one Cardeno C book that I have not read yet (will be remedied soon, as although I have the audio I have now also brought the book to read too!).  This I believe, is the first audio that I have listened to narrated by Robert M. Clark, and I will be looking out for more that he has done.  I love his narration, the voices he uses, and the emotion (sad and happy) that came across.  His narration was also very clear, and I loved listening to him.

From what you first hear, straight away you realise that Rafi has a total dislike for Issac, and even Issac seems slightly confused at Rafi's  dislike of him.  Things become clearer as to why Rafi feels like this, and you can't help but agree with Rafi, but at the same time feel sorry for Issac - who doesn't come across as the same person Rafi remembers.

Issac has found out where Rafi lives and was waiting for him outside - much to Rafi's disbelief.  He tells Issac that he doesn't want to spend time with him, and shows Issac the door.  However, when Rafi finishes his shower, he hears noises in his kitchen, and without putting any clothes on goes to investigate... and renders Issac speechless!!

Issac had brought takeout for them both, and while eating they start talking and Rafi realises he is attracted to Issac, and from the look on Issac's face the feeling is mutual - but can Rafi ever trust the man who he believes bullied and belittled him at school??

Does Issac stand any chance with Rafi?  Is Rafi remembering things correctly, or does talking to Issac surprisingly being up some things that Rafi had forgotten?

Two Alpha shifters join together to lead their pack and build a family. Commitment, loyalty, and strength aren't enough to make Wesley Stone's birth pack accept an Alpha with a physical imperfection, even if it's a meaningless mark. Putting the safety of his pack above his own wellbeing, Wesley trades himself for another Alpha and agrees to mate with a stranger in a mysterious, insular pack.

Alphas from Jobe Root's family have led the Red River pack from the first day shifters walked the earth. Now the time has come for Jobe to fulfill his destiny, but to do that, he needs his mate by his side. Spiritual, easygoing Jobe reveres Mother Nature and trusts
in fate, yet he can't help being nervous about how his mate will react to his new life in Red River, his new life with Jobe.

Two Alphas with contrasting personalities, different upbringings, and divergent beliefs come together for the good of their packs. But to stay together, Wesley and Jobe must see beyond the surface and embrace every facet of themselves and their union.

5 STAR REVIEW:

I have read the book of this story, and for some reason it hit a chord with me.  When I was asked to review the audio, I jumped at the chance to see if this was as good as the book.

The narrator of this audio is new to me, and I have to say I really enjoyed listening to his voice.  I actually listened to all of the audio without a break - so good was the narration.

I totally loved Wesley in this story. He was shunned for all his life, due to what his birth pack believed was a scar on his stomach.  Due to this they believed that he wasn't good enough to be alpha of the Purple Sky Pack, but Wesley didn't really realise until he was told that there was a trade between his pack and Red River who both needed an Alpha to lead the pack - basically Wesley believed he had been whored to another pack..... but man, was he wrong about that.

Jobe comes across as a gentle man, compassionate and all the other qualities that an Alpha needs.  When Wesley arrives at Red River, Jobe is totally smitten with him, although he can feel Wesleys unease when he first arrives.  He decides to take things gently with Wesley, and begins to show him all that Red River has to offer.

Wesley soaks information like a sponge about his new pack, but he is still frightened of showing people his "scar" and then finding that this new pack no longer wants him around due to his disfigurement  As time goes on, Wesley settles into life at Red River with Jobe, but it soon becomes apparent that Wesley isn't aware of some things that are important to Red River, such as there are two Alphas to run this particular pack, and also what his "scar" actually means.

Can Jobe finally get through the barriers that Wesley has erected, and show him that he is wanted in Red River.  What will Wesley think when he finally finds out the truth about his "scar"?

EndingsandBeginningsFS

Author Names: K.C. Wells & Parker Williams

Book Name: Endings and Beginnings

Series: Collars & Cuffs

Book: Eight

This is the final book in the series, which should be read from Beginning to End. ;) (See what we did there?)

Release Date: July 18, 2016

Blurb:

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’s new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

Well this is turning out to be the hardest review I have written this year - I am not sure if I can do the book justice with this review.  This is also the final book in the series, and wow what a finish.  I didn't think the previous book would be topped, but I will admit I was wrong about that, this book tops them all.  Still, I am sad that the series has come to finish, as I love all the characters in these books - especially the subs :)

The story begins with the confirmation of who is dead, but also the fallout associated with this.  It is something that will test the strong bond that exists at Collars & Cuffs, and there are more affected than you realise, especially as there is someone with a big secret and perhaps an ulterior motive for being there.

JJ is the new barman at Collars & Cuffs, but he is not being exactly truthful with Leo or Thomas about his reasons for working there.  His life is further complicated by the newbie Dom on the scene - Darren. They are attracted to each other, but JJ has some serious issues, especially with trust which all seems to stem back to his childhood.

Darren has gone to Collars & Cuffs after being given a card by Thomas, and at first he is not sure that this was where he should be, but soon everything became clear to him as soon he walked into the club. Things were looking even better as soon as he saw the new barman JJ.  If Darren stands any chance with JJ, he must start to win his trust and slowly break down the barriers he has erected around himself.

Darren has his hands full trying to woo JJ who is not an easy person to woo, but also speak with Thomas to find out more of the lifestyle that he realises is the missing part of his life.  He also realises that this is probably why any previous relationship has failed.  However, Darren is a Dom, but is JJ a submissive??  He may work at Collars & Cuffs, but is he actually interested in the lifestyle?

During this book, you also catch up with the other couples from the series.  I especially loved catching up with Miles and Pietro - although at one point I wasn't sure they were going to stay a couple, as I read on, I was certain things were not going to go well.  As you get to the end of the book, everything changes, but in a good way.  However, I am hoping that K.C. Wells and Parker Williams will reward us with another book, which is a book (or a novella) released to do with Jarod and Eli and the grand opening!!

Overall, I have loved this series.  Some characters I wasn't so sure on and others I totally loved (like Dorian and Jarod). Hmm, strange it is the Subs I am drawn to!!  I can honestly say that although this series has come to an end, that I was read all the books again and again.  I think the overriding point from all the books in the series to me personally, is that nothing can beat you, especially if you have good friends, who are there for you no matter what.   For some reason I always return to Jarod and Eli's book, even though it was sad and will make me cry (which I was reliably informed was KC's fault - thanks Will X), it really shows you can go on with life, whatever your age.

  Excerpt:

“Honey, I’m home.”

Alex laughed and came out of the kitchen to greet his husband. “We’ve talked about this, right? You do not walk into this apartment and talk to me like I’m the little wife.”

Leo kissed him soundly on the cheek. “Aw, but you’d look great in an apron, holding a glass of beer out for your weary, hard-working hubby.” He smirked. “And besides, no one in their right mind would call you little.”

Alex quirked his eyebrows. “One, you don’t drink beer, which is why there’s a glass of chilled chardonnay on the living room table, waiting for you. Two, excuse me—weary? Hard-working? You’ve been standing around in leather chaps and a harness, watching while guys do all manner of things to each other, which probably included a lot of fucking, because, hey, it’s Saturday night, right?”

Leo sighed happily. “What can I say? I love my job.”

Interview with Darren Fielding:

Hi Darren, thank you so much for agreeing to this interview.  Hmmm, now what could we ask you.... ok here goes......

1. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Opening my own salon. I can’t tell you the thrill I get from watching people come in, wary about what’s going to happen, and then leave with a smile a mile wide. Knowing that I helped them find that happiness means a lot to me.

2. If you could have any job or profession, what would it be?
This is my dream job. What could be more exciting than having your own business? And that business grew dramatically after I helped Thomas Williams give his boy, Peter, a new outlook on life.

3. What is your biggest regret?
That I couldn’t be enough for my ex, Michael. Or maybe it’s that we weren’t enough for each other. All my relationships seem to end that way, but we did part as very good friends, and he’s found a new love. But with this card I’ve had in my wallet for a while now, I’m thinking that maybe it’s time to turn this regret into something positive. Maybe now I can finally find out why I was so drawn to what Thomas and Peter had.

4. What is your favorite food?
I’m really not picky when it comes to food. I enjoy a pizza on occasion, but it’s a rare treat for me, because I don’t get to exercise as much as I’d like.

5. Who is your hero?
Believe it or not, it’s Thomas. He’s shown me things I never realized could exist. A bond so tight it’s almost painful to behold because of its beauty. The portion of myself that needs to be there for someone, to guide them through life. My previous boyfriends, including Michael, were independent, and that always felt like an impediment to our relationship.

Meet K.C. Wells:

Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. WELLS always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter….

K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

And as for those men in love that she writes about? The list of stories just waiting to be written is getting longer… and longer….

Meet Parker Williams (or at least his voices):

Good day! We are the voices that live inside Will’s head. The ones who whisper to him constantly, beckoning him to speak of our adventures, to tell of our love, and perhaps, if we’re in a mood, kill a person or two.

We guide his hand as he tells our tales where love is the most powerful force, but must be worked for, molded, and finally, embraced. There can be no shortcuts or substitutions on the path to a happily ever after.

We hope you will join with us as Will fulfills his obligation to ensure our stories are told and, we hope, enjoyed.

Even love can die without trust.

Angel’s brother, Isaac, has returned home, and the pair begin to make slow and awkward attempts back to each other. Learning how to be a brother to a grown man instead of a parental figure has Angel adjusting his behaviors and habits, and Isaac still remains a mystery. Was it merely entering adulthood that turned Isaac away from an overprotective Angel, or does Isaac carry a secret that will keep them from finally being a real family?

Daniel Macavoy, Angel’s new apprentice, is torn between his bond with Angel and the grasping machinations of his father. Dealing with a traumatized apprentice with dangerous holes in his magical education, saving Daniel may be harder than Angel first thought—especially since the biggest problem is not revenge, but guilt.

The one shining beacon in his life is Simeon, Elder vampire of Boston’s only Bloodclan. Four hundred years old and sexy as sin, Simeon is warrior and sage, patient and cunning. The strength Angel draws from Simeon’s devotion and the newborn mate-bond between them is steadfast and true…and the fount of death magic that animates the undead lord places Angel in the midst of a power struggle for control over himself, his lover, and his family.

Through it all, Angel is beleaguered by the unwanted attention of a troll-hybrid, the adventures of a dragon in the city, and a serial killer has decided to hunt the back alleys and midnight streets of Boston.

What I should start with, is to say that you really need to read book 1 in the series first, as you will then find out how Angel and Simeon first meet, which I have to say I couldn't help but smile about at times!!  The first book (The Necromancers Dance) was the first book I have ever read by this author, but once I had finished it, I was waiting impatiently to see what would happen next......

Although Issac is Angels brother, since their parents deaths, he has been more like a parent than a brother, and this has caused a void between the two - but is Issac being totally honest with Angel, or is he keeping secrets from him....... time will tell.

The mate-bond between Angel and Simeon is growing stronger as more time goes past, and now Angel can actually physically  see it getting stronger.  Their closeness through the mate-bond also brings lots of questions, as usually a Vampire cannot mate with someone who has magic, but strange things are occurring between them, and they need to find some answers.

Angel now also has a familiar who is a dragon, and I sure do love this dragon.  From the way the author describes everything about him, you can just picture him curled around Angels neck.  I especially love the dragon antics once he is home with Angel and Simeon.

I am not going to say what happens, but suffice to say once I started this book, things began happening, and it was up to Angel together with the local Police to try and piece things together.  There are lots of twists and turns in this story, and I have to admit I was "OMG" at a few of them..... not guessing at what would happen.  These times were also when you learnt a lot more about the mate-bond, and what it actually means for Angel and Simeon.

I hope that there are lots more books in this series, as I love the characters of Simeon and Angel, and their time together gets hotter and hotter each time! I also think that is a story with Issac maybe with Daniel, but then again someone else has their eye on Issac, so who knows what will happen with the two of them.  As each story unfolds it seems to bring forth more future characters too.

EXCERPT

Having a dragon draped all over you was a good way to get attention. Some good, some bad, most of it annoying. This case it was annoying, as the woman in front of him in line kept turning around and outright staring at Eroch. His familiar was snuggled around Angel’s neck, the collar of his heavy weatherproof sweater opened enough so the dragon could get next to Angel’s skin. Angel wore a scarf, and Eroch was tangled up in it, purring contentedly, soft puffs of smoke coming out every time the woman ogled him. Eroch was annoyed, and Angel was about to drop a hex or light the hem of her skirt up with hellfire when Simeon coughed loudly, making the woman jump and turn around. He sent a narrow eyed glare at his lover and Simeon smiled back at him, one big hand holding his elbow and reminding him he was supposed to be a grownup.

The Thinking House, a long-standing gourmet coffee house on Tremont, was overflowing with people needing their coffee hit. The line moved up, and Angel regretted his burning desire to have a peppermint latte. It was early evening, the weekend officially started, and Angel was after caffeine fortification before heading out to battle. Or shopping, really, but they felt like the same thing. He disliked people in general, and hated shopping. He got his groceries delivered, and shopping during the holidays was enough to make him exceedingly short-tempered.

This year the people he had to shop for presents was doubled, and he still felt odd about that. Simeon was simple, all he had to do was raid the Salvatore Mansion and rescue an ancient tapestry that dated back to Ireland in the 11th century. It was small, only about the size of a movie poster, but the battle scene depicted ancient Picts and Celts, covered in woad battle markings and carrying weapons of a bygone era. It was presently wrapped up in a cotton sheath and in a pine box, the restorers able to clean the tapestry and repair a decade of dust and damp damage. The mansion may have been locked up and the furniture shrouded, but Angel hadn’t been thinking clearly when he closed the old house up and he’d missed some things.

Milly was even easier to shop for. He spent all of thirty minutes searching online for a diamond necklace and a hundred-dollar gift card to The Cheesecake Factory. His teaching partner adored diamonds and cheesecake, and he had yet to vary from that very reliable and successful gift arrangement. Worked like a charm for birthdays, too. The one year he decided to change things up, she’d flat out told him to stick to what he knew, and that’s what he did.

Simeon insisted it was only polite that Batiste, the Master of Boston, receive a present from them. Angel had accepted Simeon’s courtship and Angel was now considered part of the bloodclan. He refused to obey Batiste or live in the Tower, and while Angel had the feeling that such a stance wouldn’t be accepted from any other pair, Batiste let it go. Angel was in that gray area of being a practitioner and a vampire’s bonded mate, so both sides had a claim of authority over him. Well, if he listened to any authority other than his own that is—he had trouble listening to the police, let alone the Council of High Sorcery that supposedly ruled practitioners. Though how much ruling a council of stuffy, snobbish, elitist sorcerers could do from across the ocean in Europe was beyond Angel.

Angel had no idea what to get the Master, but Simeon said he would take care of it and Angel would just have to sign the card. He’d shrugged, signed the card when Simeon brought it to him, and went back to stressing over what to get Isaac and Daniel.

He had no idea. Daniel had been in his care since autumn, two months of living under his roof and accepting Angel as his master. Daniel quickly shed any hints of his past identity, which left Angel confused and pleased, and worried on top of that. The young man was twenty years old, and had been ten years old when his whole family and two other magical clans had enslaved a vampire clan and sent them after the Salvatores. Daniel, his father Leicester, and a few retainers were all that remained of the Macavoys after the human authorities stepped in after the tragedy. Leicester avoided prison somehow, and Daniel was raised by a man who succumbed to alcoholism and agoraphobia. Daniel was no longer terrified of Angel, but he also wasn’t opening up. Angel sucked at interpersonal relationships—hell, he’d never had a lover before Simeon, and he certainly didn’t count a handful of hookups, and Angel was still learning as he went. Knowing how to get Daniel to open up to him and be his own man was outside his experience, especially since Angel was convinced he’d fucked up Isaac while raising him.

Isaac was the biggest mystery. He knew his brother yet didn’t—he knew his brother’s likes and dislikes, but the man? No idea. Isaac steadily shut down on Angel when he turned eighteen, and grew worse as the years went by, and Angel was still in the dark as to the cause.

Angel was deep in thought when he got to the counter, and the barista coughing at him brought him back. Angel glared at the rude ass but ordered his white chocolate and peppermint latte. Simeon was in line just to keep him company, but Angel ordered a small hot chocolate for Eroch, and a scone. Eroch chirped in thanks, and the barista’s eyes went huge when he noticed the dragon curled under the collar of Angel’s sweater. Angel swiped his card, and had to reach over and grab his receipt from the machine when the guy kept staring. Eroch ate the attention up, puffing out tiny bursts of smoke and slow-blinking his bright yellow eyes.

“Stop flirting, I want my coffee,” Angel chided, and he went to wait down at the end of the counter. The barista kept on staring and Angel huffed, turning his back to the counter and crossing his arms. “My dragon. He can stare at his own. It’s so rude, like no one has ever seen a dragon before.”

Simeon laughed, and leaned next to him on the counter. “My love, no one has seen a dragon in this realm in hundreds of years. Would you be so sanguine if a unicorn were to be carried in someone’s purse like a pet?”

“I would want one immediately,” Angel said primly, arching a brow. “And I would never keep a unicorn in a purse.” He was kidding. One fantastical beastie was enough—God help him if there were unicorns out there, too. Eroch gave a meep and poked his snout at Angel’s cheek. “I’m kidding, my wee beastie. You’re it for me, I promise. No sparkly horse with an antler can ever replace you.”

About the Author

I’m a thirty something bisexual cisgendered woman with way too big an imagination, but that comes in handy when I’m writing. I have been writing since I was a child, when I took a four page assignment on what I was going to do on summer vacation and turned it into a 100 page fantasy epic all written by hand…in crayons. No joke.

I work a day job, but I can’t share for who, since the Old Man isn’t as liberated as the people who read my books. I’m married, I have furbabies, and I live with loved ones. I adore a certain show about a British consulting detective and his grumpy army doctor, and that spawned an addiction to Johnlock fanfiction, which then evolved into me writing it. Gawd, that’s embarrassing. Put this down in the TMI section of my Bio, okay? I enjoy martial arts, movies where things blow up, and I wish I lived in a Marvel movie.

I live in the beautiful and lonely Berkshire County in Massachusetts, and I see way more wildlife than I care to on a daily basis (bears!). My perfect day is reading surrounded by friends and family who don’t think it’s odd I want to hang out but not talk, and my favorite scent of all time is a cool fall evening with leaves burning….less a scent, and more of an experience.

My writing is focused on gay and lesbian people, who are more than interesting side characters that hang out with the heterosexual MCs. My wish for the future is that when people ask me what I do for a living, I can say, “I write gay romance,” and NOT get weird looks.

My alter ego is Revella Hawthorne, and I'm writing the Bred For Love series under that name.

Join me in welcoming the latest book in the All Cocks Series, Live for Love.

Live for Love, An All Cocks story book 5
Beauregard Boudreaux is a native of New Orleans Louisiana, born and raised there, he never thought he would ever stray far from home. The untimely death of his first love left Beau lost, adrift, looking for a place as far away from the pain as possible. Initially, he came to New York to visit a friend, the city growing on him, so he decided to stay. His law degree comes in handy at the LGBT Center he runs, but his bar is his baby.

William Richards grew up in Chicago, his family oddly normal and very accepting of his sexuality. Modeling paid the bills, gigs across the country as a model, male entertainer and a personal trainer giving him the opportunity to see the world. He hasn’t experienced loss or pain as Beau has, the common denominator between them is the loneliness. As All Cocks big, brooding bottom Connor, William has found friendship, family and an outlet for his craving to be more submissive than men of his size and stature usually are.

The two men are perfect for each other, their tastes and lives align and the writing seems to be on the wall. But Beau has a secret he shares with a choice few, a secret that not only threatens to keep them apart, it’s deadly. Determined to keep a wall between himself and William, Beau fights the attraction, pushes William away every time he steps closer. Can one man’s determination and strength be enough to tear down a wall that holds back decades of pain and darkness? And if he can, will either of them survive the flood?

Disclaimer: This book is the fictional story of a man living with HIV. I have put a lot of time and effort into presenting this story as true to fact as possible, without going into gory or gruesome detail. If this subject is a trigger for you, you may want to skip this read. But my hope is that you give Beau a chance to capture your heart as he has mine, and William’s.

This series just seems to get better and better – and every time there is a new book, I just have to read the whole series again.  I love the fact that you are able to see what is happening with the previous main characters, that they are still an important part of this series.  To be honest, I don't want this series to end, I would love it to go on forever!

I just love the two mc's in this book - William and Beau.  William is a big man, and you know from a previous book that he is a total bottom! I love this about him, it is nice to read about big men being a bottom, too often they are only thought of as tops.  Now Beau, how do I describe Beau.... he was broken hearted when he lost the love of his life, and I suppose really only living half a life - until he met William who awoke something inside him, but he's afraid to act on it – the reason being the secret that not many people know.

William first sees Beau when he sees him outside Tristan’s office, and he is instantly taken with him – even if not a word is spoken between them.  William then sees Beau again at the bar that he owns, and this time he approaches Beau but is given the cold shoulder.  However, William is not one to give up, and he begins his pursuit of Beau.

Beau is conflicted, he is attracted to William, but is so afraid to act on these feelings. In some ways it comes across that he had the love of his life, and that he doesn’t deserve to be happy again – not that he is right about this. William is actually relentless in going after Beau, and finally Beau concedes defeat, and agrees to go on a date with William, and finds that he actually does have fun.  However, this is short lived, as Beau still has to confess his secret to William, and he is sure this will send him running as fast as he can in the other direction.

When the secret is finally revealed, William is angry with Beau for waiting until he had really started to fall for him big time, to tell him something so profound.  Beau feels guilty, and is waiting for William to walk out the door.  As Beau explains the whole sad story, many things about Beau and his actions become clearer to William, but one thing it doesn’t do is walk out – much to the amazement of Beau.

Now begins a learning curve for William, and also some important changes in his life – but he is happy to do this, as long as he is with Beau.  Beau cannot believe that William has stayed with him, and sometimes I think he wants to pinch himself to make sure he is awake and not dreaming everything.

This story is not all sunshine and roses, it deals with a real life situation that was dark in places.  However, I think that is why I enjoyed this book so much, as it is so life like.  I loved how the author dealt with the secret within Beau, and it was written so well, not making it all sweetness and light, but also not going the other way and making things over dramatic.

I hope to read more of William and Beau, as I think their story is really only just beginning.
Picture
As soon as he walked into the small storage room the memory of William writhing against the wall, his body pliant and completely at Beau’s mercy assaulted him. He had noticed William several times in passing, either at Tristan’s office or in the bar. But the night of the graduation party William wanted to be seen and he made damn sure to leave his impression on Beau’s psyche. It had been so very long since Beau had wanted another man, the pain of losing Izzie leaving him raw and vulnerable for more years than he cared to count. With William standing right in front of him, the sexy man attempting to stake a claim to Beau, it was both exhilarating and frightening. There was a part of him that wanted to let William stake that claim, because that would mean he too, could claim William.

There would always be a darkness looming though, the monkey on his back, the fact that he was HIV positive. He’d watched the man he loved succumb to the virus, the strength and passion that made Beau fall in love with Izaiah slowly withering away as the disease ravaged his body. Knowing that something as simple as a common cold or a case of pneumonia could weaken his immune system badly enough to push his body over the edge had Beau trained to keep everyone in his life at arms-length.

If there was no one there to care for you when you were alive, then there wouldn’t be anyone to destroy if they were the one to survive.

Wow, this was the final book in the series, (and you do need to read the other two books before reading this one), and what a final book it was. I can honestly say that Liv Olteano kept me gripped as things happened that you really weren't expecting.

I love the character of Bert, who we have met in the other books, being the Beta.  I really did feel for him, he seems that he enjoys sweet treats too often, and has a bit of a tummy!!  He seems ashamed of this, and to me it meant in his mind he was unlovable, even more so in light of his sisters betrayal.  He then volunteers to be the first ambassador at the Fey Court.

When he first meets Will his driver for the day, he is attracted to him, but decides he is better just looking not touching.  However, when he is introduced to the Court Interrogator Sir William Mathew Sims, at a function later that day, he turns and sees Will his "driver". Bert is a bit upset, and confused at the situation - and proceeds to drink slightly more champagne than is necessary.

When the Fey King is assassinated, it gets very very unsettled in the Fey community.  Bert has grown closer to Will, and with the mess in the Fey community Will seems to appoint himself as Berts Protector.
However, Bert soon finds out that Will wants him to help him with something, which in turn again makes Bert doubt that Will does actually have any feelings for him.

Now the story really does take some amazing twists and turns, and you just have to keep reading to find out what is happening.  You also manage to solve the mystery of the murders, but that again is more involved that you first realise, and this will have you biting your nails!!

Will Bert ever accept that he is lovable?  Will he accept the people don't hold him responsible for his sisters betrayal. Will Bert ever get his happily ever after? Is Will as taken with Bert as he makes out or does he have an ulterior motive?  Read and find out!!
Excerpt from A King and a Pawn by Liv Olteano:

“Would you take me in as a trophy, Bert?” he asked, smiling oddly, a sort of indulgent look in his eyes.

I wasn’t going to outsmart him, that was for sure. Luckily I didn’t think I had to.

“I wouldn’t be taking you in at all. You and your kids would simply accompany me. I’m sure you can find something of value to offer me so I’ll be willing to go that way. And then you’d find something of value to offer Weiss and the Council to give you guys, say, political asylum?”

“You’ve thought of everything, haven’t you?”

I shrugged. “I’m sure you did. I don’t think you’re a fool, Will. I’m sure you’re not, in fact. So I’m giving you the courtesy of not treating you as one. A courtesy I hope you’ll give me too.”

“Implying that I have not so far?” he asked, stepping toward me again.

My pulse spiked. “I wasn’t implying that at all.”

We were face-to-face, a step apart at most. My mind stuttered over the few stray thoughts I managed to recognize. It was unusual someone’s presence would affect me this much, this soon. Was he that special? Was our chemistry that special? Or was he using some sort of spell on me? I didn’t think that was beneath him. Magic wasn’t beneath any magic-wielding fey, just like changing into a wolf wasn’t beneath me as werewolf. It was a natural part of who we were. I just wasn’t that used to his natural part, and the very idea made me smile.

“What could I offer you that you’d like to have?” he asked as his breath touched my face with every word he uttered.

“Oh, I could think of several things,” I replied.

He leaned toward me. His lips brushed against mine now when he spoke. “I could think of several things I’d like to offer you as well.”

I gulped. Shit, I couldn’t think with my dick. Not now at least. I so wanted to. It would be so easy to whisper it sweetly: “Fuck my brains out and I’ll be on your side.” But I wasn’t here for shits and giggles, so I couldn’t. There was no reason I couldn’t hope I’d get a fuck out of the situation somewhere down the line. The more time we spent together, the better chance of that happening. That was pretty solid motivation to spin things in a way that would benefit us all in the end. There. I wasn’t doing this for my selfish fuck-greedy self but for the greater good. I was a fucking humanitarian, feyitarian, whateveritarian.

“I’ll only ask for one small thing for myself,” I whispered softly.

He brushed his lips against mine. The touch sent little fiery thrills down my nerve endings, from the skin of my lips right to the pulsing muscle of my heart. I felt his breath hitch at the contact, and the idea it might affect him almost as much as it was affecting me sent a shiver down my spine. We could have been faking it, both of us. This was a negotiation of sorts, and now was the time to bring on our top game. But I felt it in my gut that this connection was real, that it wasn’t bullshit for either one of us. I just knew it in the pit of my stomach. I wondered if he knew it too, as clearly as I did right in that instant.

His scent didn’t assault my senses since he’d been hanging out in my personal space for a while now. My senses were bathed in his scent already. But I could feel the pounding of his heart as I deepened the kiss; I could feel his muscles clench and unwind with sensual tension while my body sang with it. Fuck me sideways, I wanted him right now. I wanted him so bad it almost gutted me. The feel of him languidly moving his tongue against mine made my blood turn into liquid fire, scalding my insides and bringing up my body temperature to heights I didn’t think I’d felt before after just kissing. Everything in my body screamed, This. This is it. This is what you’ve been waiting for, for so fucking long!

“What do you want?” he asked after he pulled back, his forehead leaning against mine.

Fuck, fuck it, fuck! “I want all the information you can get from the Archives on a certain topic.”

Meet the author:

Liv Olteano is a voracious reader, music lover, and coffee addict extraordinaire. And occasional geek. Okay, more than occasional. She believes stories are the best kind of magic there is. And life would be horrible without magic. Her hobbies include losing herself in the minds and souls of characters, giving up countless nights of sleep to get to know said characters, and trying to introduce them to the world. Sometimes they appreciate her efforts. The process would probably go quicker if they’d bring her a cup of coffee now and then when stopping by. Characters—what can you do, right? Liv has a penchant for quirky stories and is a reverent lover of diversity. She can be found loitering around the Internet at odd hours and being generally awkward and goofy at all times.
