Detective Aidan Calloway is rock-solid strong. He's a man of justice—loyal to his friends, family, and job—even if it requires bending a law…or two. He shields himself behind an abrasive, fearless facade, until a phone call one night chips his armor and throws his perfectly planned, hollow life into a tailspin.
Jessie Vega is the epitome of optimism. His carefully crafted attitude of hope and positivity protects him from a past filled with too much pain. When a ghost from a dark time resurfaces and nearly breaks him, he must tap into his inner strength or risk losing everything he's worked so hard to build.
But Jessie can't do it alone. He must fight to break through Aidan's ironclad defenses to reveal the heart of the man hiding beneath the tough surface and mend his damaged spirit. Only then can they truly heal and become strong enough to battle the demons that haunt them and threaten their chance to finally be together.

Although part of a series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.
“This book is wonderful and beautifully worded. Jessie has a gift with words.” - Reader Review
“This story is not only an emotional roller coaster but it is full of action and mystery as well. There are several different stories all coming to a proverbial head in this book, and the outcome is excellent.” - Alpha Book Club
(This is taken from a scene between Aidan and Jessie.)
"You don't give up, do you?"
"Not when it comes to you. No."
"Jess, I'm not easy. I have more baggage than the underbelly of a cargo plane."
"Then I'll set my bags right next to yours."
He shook his head. No one had ever been this relentless to be with his miserable ass.
"I've got one last question for you," Jessie said.
Aidan turned his head slightly toward him but refused to make eye contact.
"Do you…" Jessie hesitated and rubbed his hands on his thighs again, revealing a hint of that introverted, vulnerable side others usually saw when they looked at him. "Do you want to be with me?"
Point-blank. That was the million-dollar question that determined how this conversation would end. Even if he did have enough energy to erect his shield, he couldn't lie to Jessie. He exhaled heavily. "More than anything."
"Then that settles it."
"Jess…it's not that easy."
"Don't make it harder."
Aidan sighed. "I'm not used to this," he said, gesturing between them with his hand.
"Talking or having a relationship?"
"Either. Both. Fuck if I know."
"Okay. Well, you've never had a problem talking to me before, so we'll work up to the big stuff. One detail a week. I'm not going to stress you out with a one-a-day quota. One detail we wouldn't share with anyone else."
One a week. Aidan forcefully rubbed his hands together. He could handle that. Maybe. Sorta.
"And as far as the whole relationship thing, I'm not an expert. But, we kinda already have something. Don't you think?" Jessie looked over to him with a hint of a smile playing in his expression, cocking his head.
He definitely wasn't an expert in relationships, but if Jessie thought this defined a relationship, then maybe he could totally handle this.
Jessie bumped his shoulder. "We're just missing out on all the fun stuff."
Aidan groaned. It drove him nuts when Jessie teased him.
"I'm not saying it'll be easy. I know…" Jessie hesitated and rubbed his thighs again. "I know we're both very different from each other and from what other people usually see when they look at us. But…I see you, not the guy you want everyone else to see. And you're worth it, Aidan. It bothers me that you don't recognize how amazing you are, but I'm willing to give this a shot. I just…I hope you think the same of me." He quieted for a few moments then subtly nodded, concluding some internal conversation. "You work at things so you can appreciate the success at the end."
Aidan shook his head and scoffed. Jessie and his inspirational poster lines…too fucking cute to deny. His ability to take a mountain and turn it into a few pellets of dust always amazed Aidan. Jessie was bossier than people could imagine and far more of a control freak than anyone suspected.
"Jess."
"Yeah?"
"You're totally worth it."
Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.

I was warming to Gerome in the previous book, but once I started reading this one I was having serious second thoughts! Mind you, all Gerome has known during his life, is that when you are mated, your mate is basically your submissive, and will do what you say when you say it. I suppose they are little more than a servant, especially as the mating generally happened without love being considered.

Gerome is literally blackmailed into mating with Luis, just to ensure his father’s help to find who has kidnapped Alex and his unborn child.  Gerome has no interest in Alex, who was pregnant with his baby after a one night stand with a broken condom! Alex is now in a relationship with Sam, and Gerome recognises their love for each other, even if he has not experienced it himself. Actually, it had originally made him more determined to find someone to love him like that – until his father showed his true colours.

Luis is equally upset with what is happening, in his case it is his mother that has in effect sold him to the King, so that he can mate with Gerome.  He was happy being a student, and had no way of changing his mother’s mind. To me, she was a really cold person too.
Before he will help Gerome find Alex, the King demands that Gerome and Luis are mated, before helping find Alex.  Gerome is so unhappy and hurt by his father’s actions that he takes all this out on Luis, which was not the way to start their relationship.  Although they do mate, it is obvious that both are suffering, and neither can see anything good coming from their mating.

Things are going very badly for Gerome and Luis, Gerome works all hours for his father, and Luis shuts himself away in a guest room, not even sharing a room and definitely not a bed with his mate..  Gerome wants things to change, and finds himself talking to Sam, and even funnier was once he described how things were, Sam flew into a rage at Gerome!! It didn’t matter that Gerome was a Prince, Sam just told him the truth.

From here, it was like baby steps for them both.  Each actually seeming afraid of the other, more like afraid of making things worse.  For once Gerome seemed to be listening to what Luis was saying, and slowly things began to change.

However, the biggest change to their lives would only come about if they worked together, and included others in their fight. Was this going to be possible??
  Excerpt:

Excerpt Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love Me Luis’ mother turned to him and took his hand with her cold one. Her beautiful blue eyes sought his, and she visibly took a deep breath. “I have to tell you something. Please hear me out before you say anything.” Luis swallowed hard. What would come now? His hands were clammy, but he could only wipe one on his jeans as his mother still held the other. Luis stared at her face and tried to figure out what was wrong. Something bad happened. Something really bad. Blood pulsed in his ears while he waited for his mother or father to speak again. “The Vampire King from Munich visited us yesterday. He had a proposal for us. His son, Gerome, needs a mate. He’s seen the picture of you at the coven meeting from a few months ago and thinks you’d be a good match. The prince is going to take over the crown soon, and he needs a mate by his side. You, to be specific.” His mother paused and tightened her hold on his hand. “I agreed. A mating to the prince will bring a lot of power to our coven. And the king paid us a good deal of money for the match.” “You what?” Luis yelled, trying to pull his hand back, but his mother held him tightly. He jumped up from his seat and tried to yank away from his mother’s grasp. What the fuck were they thinking? They had to be kidding. He was not going to mate some guy he never met. They were totally crazy. Nuts. His mother didn’t relent, firmly keeping his hand in her grip. “Let me go! I won’t mate someone you picked! What do you think you’re doing?” His voice cracked, but his mother didn’t even flinch. “Calm down. You knew this was coming. Everyone gets mated. It’s the way things are done,” his mother said calmly, even though her fingers still dug into Luis’ hand. It hurt, but he couldn’t focus on that now. He needed to get away before they married him off. His mind raced, turning over possibilities. He couldn’t simply mate someone. What if he ran away and hid? Would one of his friends help him to lay low? If the king wanted him as a mate for his son, would hiding help at all? Or would they find him?

Ideally, Ivy longs for all three of them to be together, but between Jack’s nonexistent libido and Candy’s supercharged needs, Ivy isn’t sure how to make it work. When Jack gets called in to help the City M police department investigate a series of violently murdered companions, both Candy and Ivy brace for trouble. But nothing prepares them for Candy becoming the prime suspect. This is book 3 of the Hidden Gem series, and it must be read as part of the series, or else you will not understand the characters.  I was lucky enough to read the whole series in one go.... and boy what a read this was.

Candy Land is a roller coaster ride in a book.  You have no idea of what is going to happen next, but it also makes you wonder on who you can trust, and what can be done to make everything right.  The characters from the previous two books are in this one, as well as some new ones. Each one is unique in their own way.

I love Jacks character,  he is quite a withdrawn person, not really trusting anyone, and seems to prefer a quiet life…. and being alone.
For some reason, Jack seems to enjoy his time with Ivy, once he made a few things clear with him!! They would spend an evening together, and just enjoy each other’s company. The more time they spent together, the more that Ivy realises that he has deeper feelings for Jack.  However, Ivy is already in love with Candy, but in his ideal world he would have both Jack and Candy.

Jack is helping the City M Police, trying to solve some horrific murders of the local companions. Only problem is, due to the nature of the murders, this makes Candy the prime suspect…. Not exactly the way for Ivy to get them all together!!

Whilst trying to solve the murders, Jack and Candy get to know each other more, and Jack starts to feel more relaxed with Candy – however Candy is still jealous that Ivy and Jack spend time together at Jacks house, even though Ivy frequently tells him that Jack isn’t interested in sex with him, that they just sit and read.

Also mixed into this story, is a virus that is aimed at all the AM’s, and they become very sick. It is then a battle against time to find out more about this virus and more importantly find an antidote, plus to also find out how this virus came about.

I don’t want to spoil this for anyone, so I am not going to say what happens, but suffice to say this book will keep you totally hooked.  It seems like everyone has secrets, which are often not so secret any-more.  There are also people with hidden agendas, and others intent on revenge at any cost.   There is also a lot more that the AM’s learn about themselves but also their partners.

  Excerpt:

Candy groaned when he realized he was the most innocent in the dark side of the world of the three of them. Him innocent. Unbelievable. Dom, whore, and pimp, he shouldn’t inch at the idea of death and blood, but he did. Fuck. Had Paris known how worthless he was going to be when it came to monsters, gore, and the supernatural shit of the world? He glanced at Jack, sighing over his natural boy-next-door beauty. His dark blond hair was long, curling around his ears, and somewhat unruly. It looked soft, and Candy longed to run his fingers through it. He’d met more handsome men than Jack, Paris and Shane being prime specimens of men, but something about him drew Candy in deep. His eyes were a soft shade of honey brown, with specks of dark chocolate that glistened if the light hit them just right. He always held himself apart, shoulders squared, head high. Con dent, Candy thought. But every once in a while he’d get a glimpse of something lurking beneath all that bravado—a childlike innocence and fear. It was the little boy hiding his heart behind the badge that made Candy want Jack so bad. He wanted to take that fear away, show him that while the world might not be safe, he wasn’t alone anymore. Had Ivy even gotten to taste those thick lips? Or experience Jack’s strong arms wrapped around him? Had he chased away the overconfident man and fearful child long enough to see the real Jack? Did Candy have a chance? Should he even care if his death was just around the corner? Fuck. If there was anything he hated it was uncertainty. Whatever Aki saw would happen. Candy had no doubt about that. If he was going to die today or even a year from now, shouldn’t he just live every moment like it was his last? What would Jack do if Candy threw himself at him? Kissed the breath out of him? Asked to be held? Candy growled to himself and shook his head. He didn’t know where to start, but somehow he was sure aggression wouldn’t be welcome. Jack stayed on his heel while Candy wandered, but seemed to be inspecting the property himself, maybe looking for clues that had been missed by the police. He had this nervous habit of biting his lip when he was deep in thought. Candy had noticed it ages ago, and it drove him nuts. It was an almost boyish cuteness that made Candy want to kiss Jack just to stop him from worrying at his lip, but now he knew it wouldn’t be welcomed and it irritated him. His tight pants bit into his lling cock. It wasn’t fair to be attracted to someone so badly. He’d looked up the term Ivy had left for him after his last client: asexuality. A lack of emotional interest in sex. There were a dozen divisions within the term, some even sex- or relationship-averse, meaning they were repulsed by sex. Did sex disgust Jack? Was that why he hugged himself whenever he entered the Gem and refused to meet anyone’s eyes? Candy had thought it was just shyness, and maybe it partially was. He just didn’t quite understand. How could someone be physically able to have sex, but not want to? If he asked Jack, would he answer? Candy sighed to himself and headed up the stairs. Even the stairs were caked in grease and grime. Ivy had lived here for several years, walking those steps in bare feet. Candy didn’t want to see, but he had to get his mind off Jack. The nastiness of the Red Delight client rooms would hopefully wilt his erection. If he’d been home he would have found a spare moment with Ivy to alleviate some tension. Here there was nothing but sticky floors, stained walls, and the stench of years of cigarette smoke. Jack followed him up the stairs. Neither of them spoke or touched anything. A door at the far end was still marked with the yellow paint used by the police to indicate the crime area. Jack rubbed his nose and grabbed Candy’s arm before either of them could make a step toward that door. “It still smells of death up here. We should go back down. There’s nothing to see, right? You don’t want the actual building, just the land.” “Ivy is too free with information,” Candy said, somewhat annoyed. How was it fair for Jack to know so much about him when Candy knew almost nothing about Jack? “He worries about you. Wants to take care of you.” “Funny. I’d say he does the same for you.” Jack shrugged. “He’s a friend. I thought he was your friend too.” Candy stepped into Jack’s personal bubble. “I fuck him regularly. We’re more than just friends.” Jack didn’t step back, nor did he appear to be shocked by Candy’s words, which stole some of Candy’s anger. Ivy had obviously not been dishonest with either of them. Though Candy had never expected him to fully disclose his sex life to Jack. “Why does that matter?” Jack asked finally. “I’m friends with Shane and Aki doesn’t mind. I know they have sex often.” Did Jack really not know? Maybe he didn’t get that Ivy wanted more than friendship. Hell, Candy would have liked to get to know Jack on a more personal level too, only his hackles were always raised by the man. He had this feeling that Jack would have to be the man of the relationship. The guy in charge, the Dominant, and Goddess knew Candy hated to give up control. Not that he didn’t like occasionally having someone hold him down and pound into him. Fuck, his head was messed up. And why did Jack smell so damn good? Candy stood close enough that if he leaned forward just a bit he could finally capture Jack’s abused lip. When had he grown tall enough to nearly meet Jack eye to eye? And the strength of Jack’s hand on his arm... Candy knew it could hold him, maybe even be enough to restrain him. He sucked in a deep breath; his cock ached to be touched and leaked in his pants. It made him angry. He was never rational when angry. Paris had been trying for years to teach him to bury that wild emotion and had failed. Candy opened his mouth to say something scathing, only Jack spoke first. “I never got to thank you for the book,” Jack said. “At least not in person. I’m sure Ivy told you I was grateful. But I really do like it. It’s like owning a piece of history. I’m in awe that you even found it.” An odd mash of glee filled Candy’s gut. Jack liked the book. He knew that, of course, Ivy had told him so, but it was different hearing it from the man himself. The anger fell away. Did Jack really see him? “The cake too. That was pretty amazing. I have the rest of it in my freezer. Been eating it a little at a time. Ivy helped me cut it into slices so I could freeze it and unthaw it as I want. I’ve never been a huge fan of sweets, but the lemon and strawberry mix is good. I’ve never had anyone give me anything. Thank you.” Candy gave in to his need to touch and be touched. Even if it meant Jack shoved him away, he had to step forward, close that space and try. He leaned forward, not daring to kiss Jack, but enough to rest his forehead on Jack’s shoulder, arm loose around his waist. He kept their hips apart so as not to startle Jack with his erection. He almost expected Jack to step back. But he didn’t. His arms circled around Candy’s back, patting his shoulder lightly. “The new hair color is good,” Jack told him. “Makes me think of flowers. Not that you’re flowery, but I’m sort of hoping spring comes soon. I don’t like the cold very much.” He seemed to be rambling now. Breathing a little hitched. Candy couldn’t recall Jack ever speaking to him so much. “More you than that brown I saw you with at Solstice. And I’m glad the jacket ts. When I saw it last week I told Ivy it would be perfect for you. I don’t know when your birthday is, but if it makes you feel better you can pretend it’s a present for your birthday, or maybe a late Solstice present.” The clothes, or at least the jacket, had been from Jack? Candy wished they were in a better place. He would have shoved Jack against the wall and proved to him how great sex could be. Only he couldn’t imagine touching anything in here and not coming away with some nasty disease. “Thank you. The coat is nice. Warm.” Jack rubbed Candy’s arms. “That’s what I thought when I saw it. That it would keep you warm, and the color is nice. Bright, like your hair always was.” He hesitated in his touch, but Candy moved closer to him, assuring him that it was okay. “It’s been a while since I saw you last. I hope you’re doing okay. I mean, I’m sure Ivy would have told me if you weren’t, but it’s good to see for myself that you’re looking good....” Jack thought he looked good? Manny appeared on the stairs a moment later, saving Candy from doing something stupid, like stealing a kiss from Jack. “Oscar’s finished,” Manny told him. He said nothing about the embrace that would have embarrassed Candy had anyone else seen. Candy pulled away reluctantly. He couldn’t meet Jack’s eyes as he made his way downstairs. If he had, he’d have said something stupid, like ask if they could go back to his place afterward. Jack probably would have taken the proposal badly anyway. Yohan didn’t look any happier. And the offer was even lower. Candy took the screen and added a small sum of money to it. This was their final offer. “Take it or leave it,” Candy told him. “You’re ripping me off,” Yohan protested. “Just because you can.” Candy shrugged. Jack took the screen and glanced over it. “Looks fair to me. The condition of the building is questionable. I noticed more cracks in the walls and ceiling than the building code would allow, even for an older structure. There’s substantial water damage upstairs, so the roof is bad. Probably should have been replaced years ago. And then there are the health code violations....” “I’ll take your offer,” Yohan said, most likely to shut Jack up before he could air the long list of problems with the property. Oscar stepped in to get his signature and thumb print on several e-documents. Candy couldn’t help but grin at Jack, who gave him a nonchalant shrug. “Everyone out to the bus,” Candy instructed the companions. “You’ll be heading to Cardinal Sins.” “What will we be doing there?” one of them asked. “Paris will interview each of you and find a suitable job. Most likely serving drinks, food, maybe cleaning or cooking. He’s pretty well stocked in companions right now.” And all of these whores were well past their prime. Candy would have to find out where Yohan had sold the others to. There weren’t many brothels left in City M, and he hated the idea of any whore being left to be abused by some asshole pimp. “No more whoring?” another clarified.
“Not likely.” He ushered them toward the door.
Jack still stood between him and Yohan. Yohan had several bags packed and there was a car that wasn’t part of Candy’s entourage parked near the curb. “Will you be leaving town, then?” Jack asked Yohan. “I’d like to know where to nd you in case more questions come up about this case.” Yohan shook his head. “Not my problem anymore. That belongs to him now too.” He waved his hand at Candy and made his way out the door and down to the car. There was another unmarked car parked across the street that Jack saluted lightly. The passenger window rolled up, and as soon as Yohan’s car eased away from the curb, the black sedan followed. “Ino,” Jack informed Candy. “He’ll let me know if Yohan leaves town or hides out somewhere. I really do want to know where he goes, just in case.” Candy nodded, a little shocked by Jack’s foresight. If Candy had been thinking ahead, he’d have put one of the guards on the task. It was just more proof that he hadn’t gotten enough sleep. He watched the former companions all board the bus and sent a text off to Paris that they would be in need of immediate healthcare as well as clothing and jobs. Oscar held out the last of the documents for him to review and sign. Moments later, with money transferred, it was time to return to the Gem and to Ivy. If only he could bring Jack with him. He knew for certain Ivy wouldn’t mind at all. Jack stood less than two feet away. He was looking around, a confused expression on his face. “Everything okay?” Candy asked him. He reached out to touch Jack’s arm. Oscar was already headed back to the car when Jack’s eyes widened in alarm and the same instant something sliced into Candy. For a moment he stood there, startled, confused at the odd, growing, wet heat suddenly pouring down his back, and then the fiery pain that erupted from his back and through his stomach. Hot pokers seemed to melt through his body, driving mind-numbing pain to every nerve. His breath faltered as blood filled a lung. He choked on the rising fluid and spit out a gush of red and froth. The world turned into a wild swirl of fading colors, all centering on Jack’s face. His expression was horrified, and then a moment later, Jack was no longer there and a black tiger leapt at Candy.

I have to say, this is one of my favourite reads from Cardeno C, and one that I have read more than once, and that this audio is one I will listen to time and time again.

I adore Emilio, although only young at 22, he is determined to capture Spencer, but I have to say although he is young, he comes across as very mature and sensitive to the feelings of Spencer.  However things are not as easy as I think he thought they would be.

Spencer comes across as very shy, but even more so he has no confidence now being with another man.  He had problems in bed prior to Emilio, and whenever he is with Emilio they are never far from the front of his mind.

Emilio approaches Spencer, of whom he has been admiring from afar, (and Spencer has been admiring Emilio from his office window), and finally decides to speak to him and ask him out.  Their initial meeting was funny to listen to, as Spencer is totally thrown by the fact that Emilio wants to be with him, but does agree to Emilio following him to his house!

Once at the house, Emilio realises just how nervous Spencer is, and although originally he just wants to seduce and bed him fast, he begins to rethink things when he really looks at Spencer and loves what he sees, and began thinking long term.

Emilio begins a courtship with Spencer, taking his time and nurturing their slowly growing relationship, but he has a major hurdle and that is Spencer himself. Spencer has been burnt before, and is wary of letting anyone else close... but oh how he loves being with Emilio, despite their age difference.

Can Emilio prove to Spencer that he is sincere, that the age difference means nothing? Can Spencer overcome his inner demons and experience all that Emilio has to offer?  Only time will tell......

SYNOPSIS

The moment naïve, optimistic Jonathan Doyle glimpses a gorgeous blue-eyed stranger from afar, he believes in love at first sight. Unfortunately, he loses sight of the man before they meet and then spends years desperately trying to find him. Just as he is about to give up, Jonathan gets a break and finally encounters David Miller face to face.
Successful, confident David turns Jonathan's previously lonely life into a fairy tale, giving him more than he ever imagined. But the years spent searching were hard on Jonathan, and he's terrified his young son and scandalous past will destroy his blossoming relationship. For David and Jonathan to build a future together, they'll both have to dig deep: David for the courage to share himself in a way he's never considered and Jonathan for the strength to tell the truth.

I thought I had read most of Cardeno C's books, but here is one that I haven't read!!  This audio was the first time I had heard the story.  I have to say I love Alexander Collins narration on this.

Jonathan Doyles life has not gone as he planned, just as he sees a stranger who he believes is his one love, he loses sight of him, and then finds out he is to be a father!  He spends time looking for this stranger to no avail, so eventually returns home to his family.

He moves back in with his family, and continues to raise his young son. He goes out to celebrate his birthday, and finally gets to meet the stranger he has been looking for..... David.  They end up spending the night together, but Jonathan runs away the next morning before David can get his number.

Now it is David looking for Jonathan, and finally he finds him, but Jonathan has a secret of two that he must tell David about.... one being his son and secondly his past, which he can never really escape from. David is totally taken with Jonathan, but he has never really let anyone close, so it is a learning curve for them both.

David and Jonathan grow closer, and although Jonathan has told David about his son, he has kept his past a secret, but it is only time until someone else spills everything.... which to Jonathans dismay is what happens.

Is the relationship over before Jonathan has the chance to explain?  Or is David more understanding than Jonathan realises?  Can they be the family that both of them crave?

While most of his friends have moved on to “real” careers, Jon Buchanan is content skating through life as a part-time waiter and gay porn star. Firmly single thanks to a previous relationship disaster, he focuses his spare time on Henry, a dear friend dying of cancer.

And with Henry’s happiness paramount, Jon is on a mission to help Henry meet his recently discovered grandson.

Isaac Gregory hasn’t set foot outside for the past year. He has everything he needs delivered, and his remaining family knows better than to visit. When a complete stranger shows up claiming to be his grandfather—with a distractingly handsome younger man in tow—his carefully structured routines are shaken.

Despite his instant attraction, Jon senses Isaac is too fragile for a relationship. Yet tentative friendship grows into genuine companionship. And when Henry’s health begins to fail, they realize Fate brought them together for a reason.

This is one book I couldn't wait to review. I have been reading A.M.Arthur books for a while, and this is one author who is in my automatic buy list. Although this is book 3 of the Perspectives series, it can be read as a standalone.

The saying chalk and cheese comes to mind with the MCs in this book. Isaac is a total recluse, does not go out of the house at all, and most importantly is partially deaf.   Jon is his total opposite and a regular porn star on Mean Green studios, as well as a part time waiter!

Henry (who is like a father figure to Jon), discovers that he has a not only a son, but a grandson that he knew nothing about.  Sadly his son has died, but he decides he wants to make contact with his grandson Issac, but only if Jon accompanies him. It is something Henry wants to do straight away, as he is dying.

For someone who is a recluse, Issac is strangely drawn to Jon, and the two begin to build a tentative friendship.  Very slowly, as Issac is so wary of strangers, which is explained as you read through the book.  When Issac rescues a kitten from his back yard, he needs help and automatically messages Jon.

Jon comes across as someone who has had his fair share of troubles, including an abusive relationship, ending with him suffering from anorexia.  It was with Henry's help and guidance that he was able to get through things. He seems to understand that Issac needs handling with kid gloves, and it really came across how sensitive he was to Issac's feelings.

Jon and Issac grow closer, Issac seems to sense that Jon would never hurt him, and bit by bit reveals more about himself. Jon also manages to give Issac the confidence to try and leave the house, always by his side offering silent support.

When Henry dies, Jon hits out at Issac with his grief, and thus causes a rift between them.  He ignores any attempt of Issac to contacting him, and also knows that Issac has no idea of where he lives but more importantly could not follow him there anyway. On top of all this, Jon seems to have acquired a stalker too.

Can Issac find a way to contact Jon?  Does he also discover the identity of his stalker before things escalate?

This series is another one that is just getting better and better with each new story.  I particularly like that AM Arthur has introduced the subject of anorexia in men, which seems to be another taboo subject that nobody will talk about.  I sincerely hope that this is not the last book in the series, as I don't want this series to end.

Jon studied him, his gaze taking in…something. “May I ask you something?” “Of course.” His chest flushed with anticipation. “How do you feel when you’re with me?” Isaac tried to push aside the anxiety still attempting to blur his thoughts, an old friend that wanted to be part of the conversation. Only anxiety wasn’t allowed in, not this time. He shuffled through different words, emotions and adjectives, searching for the one that best described how he felt about Jon. How Jon made him feel, despite being a near-stranger, bigger, stronger and far more experienced in pretty much everything. Jon still made him feel… “Safe,” Isaac said. Jon’s eyebrows crept up. The corners of his mouth quirked into something not quite a smile. “Really?” “Yes. The first time I saw you on my security feed, I noticed how beautiful you were.” His cheeks warmed. Jon flat out grinned. “Yeah?” “You’re kind and patient, and I feel safe because you don’t try to fix me, and you don’t act like I’m broken. My family thinks I’m broken, and I don’t want them to fix me. I just…” Something in Isaac shifted, accepting this new truth. “I need to feel safe, Jon. That’s why I hide. But you make me not want to hide.” Jon’s eyes glittered. His expression melted into something so warm, so sweet, that it burned in Isaac’s blood in a way he didn’t understand at all. The strange sensation urged him to reach out, to initiate contact of some kind. Deep-rooted fear kept Isaac still, unable to make that first move. Unable to do anything except soak in the wonderment on Jon’s face. “I think that’s the greatest compliment I’ve ever gotten,” Jon said. His voice was hoarse, strange. Almost difficult to hear, so Isaac paid more attention to his lips. “Is it cheesy to say your strength makes me want to be better too?” Isaac shook his head. “I’m not strong.” “You’re stronger than you think. You proved that by letting me and Henry in two weeks ago. You proved it again by going out to rescue a kitten. Twice, by the way. You told me you want to get better, get into the world, and that takes a fuck-ton of courage when you’ve lost as much as you have. I know it won’t be easy, but I still want to help you do that.” “I know you do. I want that too.”

A.M. Arthur was born and raised in the same kind of small town that she likes to write about, a stone's throw from both beach resorts and generational farmland. She's been creating stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long, in a losing battle to make the fictional voices stop. She credits an early fascination with male friendships (bromance hadn't been coined yet back then) with her later discovery of and subsequent love affair with m/m romance stories. A.M. Arthur's work is available from Samhain Publishing, Carina Press, Dreamspinner Press, and SMP Swerve. When not exorcising the voices in her head, she toils away in a retail job that tests her patience and gives her lots of story fodder. She can also be found in her kitchen, pretending she's an amateur chef and trying to not poison herself or others with her cuisine experiments. Dare to Hope
an All Cocks Story book 4
Virtual book tour

Tristan is the second oldest of the Brennan brothers and the odd man out. Most of the Brennan men have careers in law enforcement, but as a psychiatrist, Tristan chooses to help people in a different way. Quiet and restrained, he is content to hover in the background of his more gregarious brothers. Then he meets two men, each broken and damaged from losses beyond their control.

Gabriel Simenson is mourning his lover’s death. The random act of violence that took Gio’s life has left everyone at All Cocks reeling. The only thing keeping Gabe from drowning in misery is the friendship he’s forged with Micah, the newest model at All Cocks. He continues to struggle, and at the urging of his All Cocks family Gabe agrees to counseling with Tristan under one condition: Micah t go with him.

Micah Solo can relate to unbearable loss, having lost his leg and so much more in Iraq. The past two years he has been alone, adrift and vulnerable — the memories of war haunting his dreams, spilling over into his daily life. At All Cocks, Micah has found the acceptance he craves and the family he lost, but still he yearns for happiness and peace within.

The friendship between the three is instant, the mutual attraction evident. They circle each other, wanting more, yet unsure if it is truly possible. Is life the mundane reality they’ve each come to accept for themselves or do they dare to hope?

The All Cocks Stories is a series set within the world of online gay porn.
*Warning* Micah’s PTSD is told in detail, including flashbacks to his time in Iraq.

Ok, I admit I have been waiting impatiently for this book. Two reasons... first I totally love M/M/M books, and second I just love this series. I should also point out here that this book includes details from Micah's PTSD, which are a necessary part of the story, but some may find upsetting.

Well, what can I say about this book... Wow, it was definitely worth waiting for.  Two broken men who are just really living day to day, and one man who can make them whole again if they all take the chance.  Micah and Gabe are both completely broken, both have suffered loss by for totally different reasons.  Micah woke in hospital in Germany, after being involved inan attack while serving in Iraq, only to find his friends dead and part of his leg gone. Gabe had just resurrected a relationship with Gio,  to have him taken during an act of violence one night.

Micah and Gabe were staying with the owners of All Cocks, Victor, Andrew and Mattie.  They gave them both a home, to enable them to try and recover from their losses.  While staying there, Gabe and Micah were drawn to each other, and would accept comfort from the other during the dark times.  Now Enter Tristan, who feels a spark every time he is with both Gabe and Micah, but is hesitant to see if things could be more.

The three become good friends, even though  both Gabe and Micah were seeing Tristan professionally too.  Every time they met, Tristan feels more of a pull towards to the two men, but he would not act on it..... until the day that they all went out together, and went back to Tristan's house.  This evening, Micah went upstairs to shower and when he came out Tristan was waiting for him and they kissed.  Nothing else happened, and the following morning Micah confessed that he and Gabe had slept together and this broke Tristan's heart. He decided then and there that Gabe and Micah deserved happiness, and if that meant that he should step back and let them search for their happiness without him, then he would do this even though it really hurt.

Over the next few weeks, Tristan avoided being with Gabe and Micah, and felt really down, but knew it was the best thing to do - or so he thought.  Gabe and Micah slowly realised that something was missing, and then that Tristan hadn't been around, but they had no idea why he was avoiding them.  Tristan was so miserable, that he decided he had to come clean and tell Micah and Gabe the truth, what his true feelings were.  But, when he confessed he had deep feelings for them both, not a word was spoken, and Tristan assumed this meant that his feelings were not replicated, and then made to walk out completely heartbroken.

Do Gabe and Micah stop Tristan from walking out?  Do Gabe and Micah return Tristan's feelings? Is there any hope of the three of them getting together?

I have read this book about three times now, and I enjoy it more each time.  This was quite the emotional read, especially with Micah and his PTSD, which made sad reading, but you needed to know what had happened to Micah to understand him better.  Gabe really was like a lost little man, and he had no idea on how to deal with what life had dealt him.   I loved how the relationship between the three slowly developed, and all of them more than a little afraid to take the final step.

To me this series has got better and better with each new book,  and the characters from earlier books also appear in this one., and I like that you are also following up on the others.  I cannot wait to see what happens with William and Beau, as from their encounter at the end of this book, things are going to be really complicated.

Picture
Oh wow, if you start a book really feeling for a MC,  then it is this one.  I really did feel for Grant, he had been betrayed in the worst way possible - his boyfriend having an affair with his business partner, and on top of that his business partner stealing money from the business.

Now note I did say start a book feeling for the MC, but as I read on, I did get rather irate with Grant. He had a way of rubbing me up the wrong way! It was more or less how he portrayed himself, even one of the other characters said he was stuck up!  I understand the trust issue, but he was painting everyone the same way as his ex-boyfriend and business partner.

Dave comes into the story when Grant was visiting his friend Ty. They got on well when they realised that both were sort of in the same business, except Dave was hands on with the  work and Grant was someone who worked behind the scenes, organising others to do the work.

They meet again when Dave accepts Grants invitation to stay at his house while working in Melbourne.  Everything seems to be progressing well, Dave and Grant seem to be growing closer the more time they spend together, including sleeping together and pleasuring each other too.

However things start to change when Grant asks Dave to go to a party with him, and then leaves him alone to go networking. Things are also made worse by Grants so called friends. By the end of the night Dave is steaming mad and Grant seems oblivious to it all. On the return home, any progress made seems to have been lost.  Grant manages to make things ten times worse by keeping important secrets from Dave, and it looks like their fledgling relationship is doomed to fail before it has really got started.

Can Grant ever finally trust Dave to open up and reveal the remaining secrets?  Will Dave actually want to stay with Grant once he learns this?  Well that you will have to find out reading the book!!!

I had been waiting for this book to come out, and Nic Starr did not disappoint me.  I think of the three books, this one is my favourite.  By the end, I loved both MC's, especially as they were as different as chalk and cheese. I should also mention here..... omg I love love love the cover - drooling!!

“I said no.”

Grant’s voice was loud enough to travel down the hall. Dave immediately tensed at the tone. He couldn’t tell if Grant was angry or just being firm, but his words were clear. “This is the last time I want to have this conversation. You aren’t welcome here anymore.”

“I just want to know what you said to Douglas.” The answering voice was menacing, and Dave’s hackles rose.

Who on earth is that?

Dave placed the milk bottle on the benchtop and edged closer to the doorway. Grant could no doubt take care of himself, but Dave wanted to be close at hand. Just in case.

In case of what?

It didn’t matter what, it only mattered that Dave make sure Grant was okay, and the stranger’s voice didn’t sound anywhere near okay.

“What are you talking about? I haven’t spoken to Doug in weeks. In fact, if you know how to contact him, maybe you can tell him to call, and that I need to speak to him and sort out some crap.”

“I know you’ve said something. He told me you were trying to shaft him and get rid of him from the business. Then he went overseas, and now he’s come back and doesn’t want to see me.”

“So he’s back, then?”

“Don’t pretend you don’t already know.”

“I’m not pretending anything. How many times do I have to tell you I haven’t seen or spoken to Doug? We haven’t exchanged so much as an email. Okay, well, maybe that’s not quite true. I’ve sent him emails and letters, but he hasn’t replied. If he doesn’t want to see you, John, that’s between you and him. It has nothing to do with me. I’ve told you before—you’re welcome to each other.”

“Don’t you dare—”

“Get your hands off me.”

Dave didn’t wait to hear any more. Before he was even conscious of moving, he was striding down the hallway, and was bloody glad he’d done it. Grant was shoved up against the wall. A guy—John, the ex-boyfriend?—gripped him by the upper arms and yelled in his face.

“Hold it right there. Get your fucking hands off him,” Dave growled.

Shocked eyes met his as John looked his way and instinctively dropped his hands. “I… ah….”

“Step away. Now.”

John hesitated for a moment, looking between Grant and Dave.

Dave didn’t take his eyes off John, watching the man’s every move. “I said now.”

Excerpt:

“Why? Am I turning you on?” My hand wandered over my fly. Not stroking, just firm pressure. We’d danced past sexy talk, far out of the friend zone, now meandering into something dark and heady. I pressed hard against my aching erection as I waited to see how far Ev would let himself go. “Perhaps. I told you some things, now you tell me. What is your favorite thing?” “Uh. The long, slow grinding ending in oral that you just described sounds amazing and hits a lot of my buttons. For the record, I’m totally good with…mess. And I like giving oral. Love getting my throat fucked. Being pinned down while grinding or getting my throat fucked, that gets me going.” Ev was silent a long moment. Perhaps I’d pushed him too far. “Tell me about this throat fucking. How do you like it?” Aw yes. I’d never had phone sex, but I had a feeling we were about to head in that direction. “Where are you right now?” “In my bed. With a closed door. Are you going to ask me what I’m wearing next?” “Knitted underwear?” I laughed as I headed for the bathroom—the one room with a lock. My usual jerk-off method was a locked door and a longer-than-necessary shower. “Sorry to disappoint. Pajama bottoms. I worry Hala Mira could need me in the night.” “Hey, you don’t have to apologize to me. I share a room with a ten-year-old. I’m going to the bathroom now, though. And locking the door.” “You require a locked door to tell me about giving head?” “I require a locked door, a quiet house, and about three hours to show you,” I countered. “Fuck, Ev. I want you to wear me out.” “Oh, I could. Do not doubt that, Brady. You want me to wear your throat out? Use you so much you need me to feed you some gelato after?” “Fuck yes,” I whispered. “I’d like it if you were on the bed or in a chair and I were kneeling in front of you. Or you were standing in front of me. Me on my knees is the key thing.” “You ever try with your head over the edge of the mattress? It happens that this bed is the perfect height for that…” “Oh yes. Tell me more. I want to jerk off while you fuck my throat like that.” “Ah. But I don’t want that. Perhaps we will need to find other occupation for your hands.” Oh man. Ev knew how to turn my crank big-time. “I’m good with having my hands tied.” I could tell from his inhalation that it worked for him, too. “How flexible are you?” “Bendier than I look. I had to do yoga stretching exercises to rehab a skateboarding injury. Turns out I dig it.” “Nice. Very nice. I like your mouth very, very much.” “Like the beard? Because if you want my mouth more…exposed, I can work with that. Beard is pure Northwest laziness on my part.” “The beard is…part of the appeal. Your mouth is very full and your beard always seems like it’s…teasing. I think I want your hair down, though, yes?” “Go for it.” Getting into it, I pulled my hair free of the ponytail, let it flop against my shoulders. Spit gathered in my mouth like I really was about to get a go at Ev’s cock. Fuck. Just the thought had me throbbing. I unzipped to get a little more breathing room. “I want to—” Knock. Knock. Knock. “Brady, are you in there? I don’t feel so good,” Jonas called through the door. Fuck. I kept my curse to myself. “Just a minute, buddy,” I called. “You need to go?” Ev said in my ear. “I understand.” “Yeah, I’m sorry.” “Another time, Brady, another time.” Even if he just meant the phone-sex version of the fantasy, part of me thrilled to his words. It’s a far cry from life on the streets and Caden is determined to keep working hard, and stay out of the spotlight. Excerpt:

“Holy shit, he has a gun. Caden, for fuck’s sake don’t shoot!” Sean heard Felix yell and he damn near pushed Liam off the fire escape, leaping up the last of the stairs. He could understand how Felix would want to talk quickly, especially if a gun was involved, but he had to see Caden for himself. As he stood on a rickety ledge he was momentarily stunned by the vision in front of him. A huge lit space littered with canvases spoke of hard work, dedication, passion for art and an apparent disregard for mess. And in front of it all stood Caden – locked, loaded and ready for bear. The young man looked even better than Sean remembered. His slim, pale torso gleamed under the light, his unruly mop of straight blond hair falling just over the top of one eye. All Caden appeared to be wearing was a pair of jeans that hung low on his hips – a truly sexy picture. But it was the confident way Caden held the gun in his hands, and the unflinching glare in his eyes, that touched Sean’s heart. Felix had been right about one thing. Caden was determined to defend his home, and he looked more than capable of doing it. Damn, if that idea didn’t slam Sean in the groin and hang on. “What are you doing here, Felix?” Caden’s voice held traces of nervousness that wouldn’t be noticed by human ears, but Sean noticed that the hands holding the gun didn’t waver. “I was worried about you,” Felix called out, stepping closer to the glass, his hands spread to show he was unarmed. “We all were. You wouldn’t answer your door; you weren’t taking my calls. I had to know you were all right. We’re friends, Caden, I thought you trusted me. Now please, let us in. This damn ledge is fucking unsafe and you know I’m scared of heights.” Caden held his glare for a long minute, and Sean wasn’t sure the young man would ever move. But then he carefully raised his weapon, removed the magazine, which he tucked in his back pocket, and then walked over to rest the gun against the wall. Only then did he come towards the large panes of glass, releasing a latch, which Sean realized was actually a door latch. What he had mistaken for windows doubled as large sliding doors. Once all three men were inside of what was a huge space, Caden seemed unsure of himself. “I know we’re friends,” he said to Felix hesitantly – scared, but apparently determined to defend his actions. “I’m not doing anything wrong.” His eyes seemed to catch Sean’s automatically and Sean was shocked to see they were full of fear again. “I’m an adult. This is my place, my territory. I’m not intruding on anyone’s space. I have a right to be here.” Sean realized in that instant that Caden’s immediate fear had a name – the Black Brothers - and damn, if that didn’t make him feel sick. He and Liam were full-blown Alpha wolves, and his little Omega must have thought that they had a pack, or at least a right to the territory he lived in. No wonder the poor guy had locked himself in and refused to talk to anyone. He was terrified of losing his home and possibly his life. Felix looked confused. “No one said you didn’t have any right to be here. This is your home, bought and paid for. No one can take it away from you so long as you pay your taxes, and your trust does that for you.” “Then why did you bring them?” Caden hadn’t stopped looking at Sean, but clearly Liam was included in the ‘them’ comment as well. “They know what I’m talking about. Why are they here, if not to beat me, torture me, rape me and then kick me out of my home? That’s what men like them do. What are they doing here?”

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Lisa Oliver, author of The Artist and His Alpha, which is the third book in the Alpha and Omega series (Can be read as a standalone).

Hi Lisa, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Hi there, lovely to be here today. My entire life revolves around the characters in my head, and in this book my readers get to meet Caden, a wonderfully shy, hermit-like artist who has good reason for hiding from the world; and Sean, a self-obsessed Alpha who needs a good mate to kick his behind occasionally. The two men meet, they have issues, and both of them have to go through a lot of personal growth before they get their HEA. I was really pleased with the way these two finally got their heads straightened.

What is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about your writing?
I had one woman tell me on Facebook that she had told her husband to get take out for the kids, for dinner, because she was reading one of my books and she couldn’t be bothered doing anything else until she finished it. I thought that was lovely.

Are you a full-time or part-time writer? How does that impact your writing?
I write full time, and can go sometimes twenty days or more before I take a day off. I really love what I do. I think that helps with the flow of my stories, because I don’t do an outline or anything else like that – I just sit and write. I am lucky that I don’t have to worry about an outside job that could interrupt my thought processes.

What interested you about the theme of this book?
Strangely enough, Caden’s being hidden away from the world came from my own children claiming I am a bit of a hermit. He has issues meeting new people and lives with a lot of fear, and I think that is more common in our busy society than people realize. I liked exploring that idea, and the most effective ways of combatting it.

What is the most difficult part of writing for you?
Finishing a book.  Honestly, I have tried so many times to write 100 page stories, and it doesn’t happen. My characters beg me for one more scene, then just one more and before you know it, my book is over 200 pages long.

Name your four most important food groups.
There are four of them?  Chocolate…chocolate…chocolate and then chocolate.
  Meet the author:

Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. An Erie Garden Party

Synopsis

Spring has finally arrived along the shores of Lake Erie and no one is happier than skunk shifter, Templeton Reed. Now that the snows have melted, he can frolic and play on the grounds of Lupei Manor, the formidable home that he shares with his life partner, Mikel Lupei, the alpha of the Lake Erie pack. What a pity that his joy is short lived. Not only does a stranger appear to shake things up in the manor, bodies begin showing up on the grounds as well! Could the newcomer to the pack be the one viciously killing innocent humans and shifters? Or is there a more nefarious force at work lurking just outside the boundaries of the ancient manse Templeton, Mikel, and their LGBT friends call home?

This is the first book I have read with a skunk shifter, but I hope to see more :)  I love that this book has taken shifters to different animals, plus what is found in Lake Erie.

Lupei Manor houses the alpha of Lake Erie pack Mikel Lupei, who is gay and has a life partner Templeton Reed, who is the skunk shifter. Lupei Manor is a haven to all shifters who are straight, bi or gay and for some reason not accepted by their packs.  Everyone works on keeping this secret kept from anyone outside of the Manor.

Life was progressing as normal, especially with the full moon, which made all the werewolves total sex hounds!!  That was until Templeton was woken to be told that there had been a body found.  This was just the start of the nightmare at Lupei Manor, and nobody knew why it was happening.  It was Templeton who managed to solve the mystery, and with the most unlikely help.

I really did enjoy this book, in fact I have read it twice!!  I love the sub characters in the book, from Rugby (who manages to scare Templeton every time he appears), to Vincente (who is a vampire), and many others.  They all add to the story in their own way, and I really loved the comments from the cook when Mikel walks into the kitchen naked and scares the staff!!

If you like a shifter book, with mystery thrown in then this is the book for you.  I can pretty much guarantee that the twists in the story will keep you reading until the end.  I should also mention that it has some rather hot sex scenes in it, especially when it was the full moon, Mikel was rather insatiable.

Excerpt

"Son of a human," Mikel snarled. He stripped and shifted. I stood with his clothes over my arms, watching the wolf work the scent. He padded to the lake, snuffled the shore intently, and then slowly made his way back to the corpse. I turned my head to stare at Erie when he shoved his head under the bloody sheet to smell the body. The water seemed almost tranquil today. How I wished we were planning our spring fete instead of standing here beside a dead man. Mikel tapping my arm brought my attention from the Great Lake back to him. I handed him his pants. "So, what can you tell us about this poor man's fate?" "He's human." Mikel zipped his trousers vehemently. "And he was killed by a large animal, either wolf or bruin. Whoever did this dragged him through the lake to mask the scent. I'll have to gather the pack to scour the woods. Damnation." "Oh dear me," I sighed. "I suppose the call must be made then." Mikel threw his head back and stared at the soft white clouds ambling past. "Yes. We have to notify the Elder counsel. That is standard operating procedure when a human is involved in mystical matters. Damnation!" I reached out to pat his thick bicep. I wasn't sure he wanted consolation but I offered it anyway. He placed his hand over mine. "Let me know when they plan to arrive. I'll take a long stroll through the woods." Mikel's lip rolled as he turned to look down at me. "I hate that as well. You should be at my side. This mansion is as much your home as it is mine." "Yes, well, the times they aren't a changing as rapidly as needed," I smiled then snuggled into his wide chest. His arms cinched around me tightly, his smoky shirt smashed between us. My ear rested over his strong heart. "If one of the Elders saw me here it would raise questions. I know we have a lie all in place, but I for one do not wish to put that lie to the test. Better I enjoy the forest for an hour or so while they attend to this mess." "I love you beyond words, Templeton," Mikel said into my black hair. "Someday, I swear, we shall not have to hide our love for each other." "From your mouth to the Elders' ears," I whispered, then tipped my head up for a kiss. We both needed one. Pity it couldn't be a longer one, but it was tender.
