What should have been a beautiful new beginning is undone by the hatred and envy of another.

Ten years ago, Kaine Keeley watched in horror as the love of his life turned his back on him, taking with him his one true chance at happiness. Now that he's no longer the penniless, shy boy he once was, Kaine is ready to fight and take back what was stolen from him.

A long time ago, Graeson Hardin thought that Kaine was worth fighting for. But after witnessing a crushing betrayal, he ran and never looked back. He wants nothing now but to live his life of solitude, protected from a love that almost destroyed him.

When Kaine shows up ten years later with a heartfelt apology and a believable explanation, Graeson must decide if he can make peace with his past to have the possibility of the future he always wanted.

Having traveled different roads in life, will these former lovers be able to battle the evil that may still be working to keep them apart and find a way to begin their long journey back home?

I have to say I really did enjoy this book.  I liked the sound of it from the blurb, and the book didn’t disappoint.  I also have to say I want a Honey in my life, omg it would definitely not be boring!!  Honey, I should say is Kaines best friend, and to me sounds like quite a feminine man, but someone who looks can be deceiving!

As you begin reading it is current day, and Kaine is about to meet Graeson for the first time in over 10 years.  To say he is scared is rather an understatement, as he has been waiting a long time to see if Graeson still has any feelings for him, and if there is a chance they can get over what happened previously.

As the story unfolds, you are taken back to the time that Kaine believed that Graeson had walked out on him without a backward glance, and what had happened to make Graeson think that Kaine had betrayed him.  Unbeknown to both, there was someone who had decided that they should not be together, and did whatever he could to ensure that Kaine and Graeson broke up.

When they meet again, it is obvious that the feelings that they had 10 years previously had not diminished at all, and were even stronger this time around.  Kaine is over the moon that Graeson will talk to him, but what he doesn’t realise is that Graeson is having a big problem with overcoming what had happened previously.  It is like he just cannot let it go, no matter what Kaine does to reassure him.

Eventually, Graeson sees Kaine for who he is, someone who is truly deeply in love with him, and the two seem to be able to put the past behind them and build on their relationship, that is until the someone from their past crashes into their lives again…

I look forward to reading more from this author, especially in this series. This book will definitely be on my read a;gain list, which I have done already!!

I am a native Houstonian, with a deep love of Texas, especially our gorgeous Hill Country.  I am mother to five awesome children who, like their mom, are all weird and quite possibly a little bit nutty.  I attended the University of Houston and have BA in Business Administration. By day I am a Treasury Analyst in the Oil & Gas industry but by night, I let my inner freak-flag fly.

I have always been an avid reader.  I distinctly remember begging my poor mother to paint my room lavender so that it would coordinate with my Harlequin romance novel collection that had taken over my room.  My love of romance has evolved over the years to a passion for darker, more dangerous love that is hard fought.  After stumbling upon my first M/M novel I was blown away and from then on I was hooked.  My love of hot, sexy men aside, I love to read - and now write - stories with rough, sexy alpha males that struggle to find their HEA. My stories can be sparked by a name I hear, a delicious recipe I see, or even the lyrics of a song that move me.  I will hear it or see it and a complete character pops into my brain demanding that I write their story.

What is destined cannot be changed

Chris has had a monumentally bad month. First, an aggressive band of aliens invaded the Earth, conquered the world, and now he’s fighting for survival in the mountains with his family and the neighborhood bigot. Just because he’s barely out of his teens and a bit on the scrawny side doesn’t mean he can’t watch out for his mom, sisters and younger cousin. Chris keeps searching for the brighter side of things, but his humor is wearing thin. Fear can do that to a guy.

Lasar and Nary are a soul matched pair of warriors from Alashar. Lasar is Nary’s Ahna, the one who dominates him, and Nary is the Nasha, or submissive, to Lasar. Every Alasharian, regardless of orientation, needs the balance of the power exchange to exist peacefully within their lifelong soul match bond. When Lasar is awarded a war prize, he sends Nary to look over the recent arrivals.

Chris and his cousin Morgan are captured and sent to the slave cages where they discover from the other imprisoned young men that they are destined to be sex toys for alien pairs. When one of those aliens saves Chris and his cousin from being abused by the slave master, Chris hopes that the seemingly kind alien won’t be too horrible an owner.

Lasar and Nary are finally alone together with their new sex slave, ready to enjoy their reward. However, in the middle of their playtime a shocking event occurs that not only disrupts Chris’ world even more than it already has been, but also challenges everything that Lasar and Nary have always held dear. As Lasar searches for answers, he begins to question the reasons behind the Earth invasion and where his loyalties should really lie. As their Ahna, he must be the one who decides whether they will all be safer together, or apart.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes involving sounding.
Picture
I did enjoy reading the book, but I have to admit it took me a little while to get right into it.  We began with Chris, who at that time was with his family, but earth  had been invaded, and Chris, his mom and his sisters together with his cousin Morgan are all in the mountains trying to hide from the Aliens.  However, food is getting scarce, so Chris and Morgan decide to try and go the nearest place and try and get something….. however, things do not go their way, and they are captured by the aliens.

Chris and Morgan are sent to the slave cages, and there they are not sure what is going to happen to them… until someone tells them that they will be used as sex toys for the aliens. Chris and Morgan are terrified, and things are made worse when Chris is taken from his cage, with no idea where he is going by the slave master.

We then meet Nary, who was drawn to the slave cages but unsure why, until he was nearer Chris. Then it was like a protective side of him came out, and he told the slave master that Chris was to be the war prize for his Ahna Lasar  While talking with Nary, Chris pleaded for Nary to take his cousin Morgan with them – which strangely enough Nary agreed to.

When Lasar finally arrives back at the place which he and Nary are calling home while on Earth, he too is drawn to Chris. However, before he can see how things with Chris would be like, he has the task of the punishment due to Nary for his disobedience…. Which Chris hears and is becoming more aroused when he realises what is happening.

When the three finally get together, Chris is in heaven until all of a sudden Lasar stops everything, and then leaves Nary and Chris.  Chris is distraught and thinks he has done something to upset Lasar, and it takes Nary quite a while to calm him.  Chris felt something deep inside when Lasar and Nary were close to him, although he didn’t know exactly what it was he was feeling.

Lasar is trying to find answers as to what is happening, but as he is searching for all the answers, he hears some things that make him feel unsure about what is happening.  Is all he believed in just a lie? Lasar just doesn’t know what to do for the best, but it is a decision that should be made with Nary and Chris, but can he tell them what he has learned??

This is book 1 of the Soul Match series, and I have to say I will be looking out for book 2, and I believe this series will get better and better.

Excerpt from Slave for Two...

“Oh my God, what’s going on?”
Chris whipped his body around to see his mom hiking up from the creek with the girls trailing behind, their extra sweaters wrapped around them, protecting them from what appeared to be their still damp hair and likely, a very cold river bath.
“Uh, I think Mr. Avery and Paul are going to head out to a different spot.”
His mother furrowed her brow as her gaze flitted back and forth between all of them. “Jerry? Is that true?”
He pressed his lips together and nodded.
“But…”
His mom seemed so fragile in that moment. What if she felt safer with the older and larger man than with him? I really fucked this up.
“Why?” Her voice trembled. “Don’t go, Jerry. You’ll be much better off if you stay here with us. Chris knows his way around these trails, the mountain. You’ll get lost. Please. Think of Paul.”
“I am thinking of Paul!” His face had turned scarlet, his normally ruddy complexion taking on an even more pronounced hue. “No offense, Sharon, but your son is barely out of high school. Doesn’t have real-world experience and I don’t think he’s capable of making tough decisions. His kind don’t know how to stay calm when the situation calls for it, and I can’t take any chances that he’ll become hysterical if we’re faced with those things from space.”
I’ll show him calm.
His mother appeared to be working up to a sizeable rage. The coloring of her cheeks was in direct competition with Mr. Avery’s.
“I see.” Her tone seemed barely controlled. “Just so we’re clear. My son has been out of high school for over two years. He graduated early because he skipped ahead. He was also class president for two years in a row, and had a three point nine grade point average. If you add that to his extensive knowledge of this terrain, not to mention”—her gaze wandered up and down Mr. Avery’s frame before locking on his face again—“his physical fitness, I would put mine and the wellbeing of my daughters’ in his hands any day over you.”
“Whatever. He’s too small to be of any use in a fight.” Mr. Avery rolled his eyes as he continued stuffing the two bags he seemed intent on taking. “Neither one of them stand a chance at battling those things.” He’d waved his hand in the general direction of him and Morgan.
Chris had already decided to quit wasting his breath on Paul’s dad, so he turned to Paul instead. “Remember what I said. Don’t try to fight them. They’ll kill you if you do.”
Paul regarded him with the same pained expression as earlier. “I’m sorry about everything, Chris, I really am. But I won’t let them take me no matter what.”
“Oh, God.” His mother’s voice trembled and when he glanced over to her, she was holding a hand to her mouth.
“Good luck.” Mr. Avery hoisted the canvas shopping bag he’d brought from the Pine Cove market over his shoulder then marched away. Paul dipped his chin at Chris, grabbed the second bag, then followed his dad.
“Jerry! Don’t!”
His mother surged forward but Chris grabbed her arm, holding her back.
“Mom, stop. You can’t force them. Mr. Avery made it pretty clear that he thinks he’s right about everything.” Chris let out a sigh, wondering if he was the one making the mistake. “I don’t know. Maybe he is.”
His mother whirled around to face him. “Don’t you dare start doubting yourself now, Christopher. We never would’ve made it out of town if you hadn’t thought so fast, hadn’t led us all to safety.”
Chris grunted, shaking his head. “Safety. Yeah. For these past few days, sure, but then what? I can’t make any promises that I’ll do the right thing next time.”
“And we don’t expect promises, sweetheart.” His mom clutched his upper arms, her gaze searching his face. “I know there’re no guarantees. But I also know that our best chance for survival is with you up here, and even if you hadn’t come to the conclusion that we should stay in the mountains, that’s what I would’ve decided on my own.”
A portion of the awful burden that’d been weighing him down for days lifted at his mother’s words. It wasn’t until that moment that he realized how overwhelming holding the responsibility of everyone’s lives in his hands was.

Release Day Blitz - Of Love and Corn Dogs by Parker Williams, 5 Star Review

I really wasn't sure I was going to like this book, especially after reading Haven's Creed and the Collars and Cuffs series.  From the cover, I knew this book was going to be totally different, and I wasn't wrong there - it is so different to the other books, but I loved this book just as much as the others, maybe even more.  This is one book that will be added to my read again list on my Kindle.

Darwin is someone that I really felt sorry for, he had found the love of his life, only to lose him.  However, rather than go on with his life, it was like he was just existing, doing what needed to be done for his company, but really nothing for himself.  This was until he went into his favorite restaurant to sit and look at the waiter, only to find him gone too!

Ricky is working at the restaurant so he can keep a roof over his head, plus try and pay off his student loans.  Darwin comes across as quite a prickly person, but Ricky soon manages to find the nice Darwin underneath.

Darwin is strangely drawn to Ricky, although this all seems foreign to him, I think as it has been years since he had these feelings.  He then goes back to the restaurant, just so he can see Ricky again, and ends up spending quite a while with him.  The two of them seem to be getting on well, but Darwin has one huge secret that he is keeping from Ricky, one that will rock Rickys world.

I am not adding spoilers, but suffice to say things do not go well once Ricky knows the secret Darwin is keeping..... but is it as bad as that Ricky seems to think??  I could understand the reaction of Ricky, for being misled, but on the other hand I can totally understand why Darwin did what he did too.  Is there any way for things to work out for the two men?  Will Ricky understand why Darwin had to keep the big secret?

Darwin sat at his usual table and scanned the restaurant, anxious to see Roy, his favorite server. From the soft lighting of the candelabras that dotted the walls and the gleaming hardwood bar to the deep, rich brown carpeting, everything about Asiago screamed class. As the only five-star restaurant in the area, everything had to be the best. But Roy outshone all the glitz of the dining room. While Darwin knew Roy saw him as a customer, he secretly hoped that one day the waiter might realize he hadn’t been coming for the food all these months.

He frowned when the young man who approached the table looked nothing like the raven-haired beauty Darwin had grown accustomed to seeing twice a week for the last six months. He tried to school his features to hide his disappointment, not wanting to hurt the slender blond with the wide smile who drew near.

“Good evening, Mr. Kincade. My name is Richard, and I'll be your server for this evening. Would you like to start with a drink?”

“Where's Roy?” Darwin growled.

His cheeks heated when Richard stepped back, looking every bit the kicked puppy. Darwin winced. He knew better than to snap at people. He scratched his cheek before he glanced up. “I’m sorry. It's been a long day. Please forgive me. I assume Roy isn't working tonight?”

“Roy quit a couple days ago,” came the hesitant answer.

Darwin's gut clenched. He'd been coming to Asiago simply for Roy. Truthfully, the merely palatable food hadn’t been a drawing point. Seeing Roy had become the highlight of his week, and now he was gone.

“Did he say where he was going?” A hint of whine escaped, but goddamn it, he'd been in lust with Roy.

“He and his wife moved to be closer to her parents.”

Nausea rolled through Darwin. He hadn't even considered Roy might not have been gay. Such a fool he was.

“Would you like that drink?” Richard asked hesitantly.

Darwin knew Asiago was one of the few places in the United States that had the drink he loved most. “Yes, please. A shot of Macallan M. Neat.”

Richard gasped and then covered his mouth. “Sir, that costs—”

“I damn well know the cost,” he snapped. “Bring me my drink.”

Once more Darwin's anger had gotten the better of him. Green eyes shimmered in the dim lighting, and Darwin worried the young man might break into tears.

“Again, please accept my apologies. It’s been a rough day, and I should probably just go home.” He reached over and grabbed his briefcase, ready to stand, when Richard held out a hand and graced Darwin with a genuine and disarming smile.

“No, please. Stay. Let me get you that drink, okay? I'll let you know the dinner special when I come back. My grandma always said any day can be made better with a good meal.” Richard hurried off in the direction of the bar without waiting for a reply.

Darwin fumed at his lack of self-control. Not only had he made a fool of himself tonight, but he'd also hurt the feelings of someone he didn't know. Though Richard would be right to refuse service to Darwin, he’d run to get a drink. As much as he wanted to believe the attentive attitude came down to getting a decent tip, Richard seemed too genuine for that. Darwin sighed and put his briefcase back on the leather seat. His mother would be so disappointed in him.

A crystal glass thunked against the table, startling Darwin. The amber liquid rippled gently. Darwin picked it up and gazed into the glass. He'd thought about downing it in one go, relishing the burn that would inevitably follow, but he hated losing control. He took a deep, steadying breath.

“Richard—”

“Ricky.”

“Excuse me?”

“Most people call me Ricky. You can, if you want.”

Hide and Seek (All Cocks #6) by T.M.Smith - 5 Star Review, Would You Rather Questions.... and Giveaway

Dusty Anderson left his hometown in Justin, Texas for the Big Apple not long after graduating high school with dreams of becoming an actor. A year later, no closer to realizing his dream but pretty damn close to being broke, he comes across a flyer in a local gay bar that provides a solution to his dilemma. Six years later, Dusty has all but forgotten his dream to be an actor. The family he gained when he went to work at All Cocks and the job itself are enough for him, for now at least.

David Thompson is barely twenty-one, high on life and starting his second year at NYU as an Art student. Now that he is old enough to enjoy the city’s night life, David finds his first crush at a local hot spot in the village, The Monster Bar. Young love is laid to rest though, when David comes out to his mother and older brother with disastrous results.

A tragic incident at the hands of David’s brother changes the course of all of their lives and brings the two together, but is it coincidence or fate? Regardless of unlikely circumstance, Dusty is inexplicably drawn to David, who suddenly finds himself alone in the world. Protective of David from the start, Dusty realizes his extended family at All Cocks and his best friend Kory will not understand this new relationship. Fearing the worst, Dusty plays a dangerous game of hide and seek, risking everything to keep David safe and sheltered.

But hiding can only last for so long, and David and Dusty aren’t the only ones dealing with uncertainties. The Dimir men find that the one thing they’ve longed for might be within reach and Dusty’s father, Dean, arrives in town unexpectedly with secrets of his own. Truths come out and trust is put to the test. Can the All Cocks family find the happiness they deserve?

This is the 6th book in the All Cocks stories series, the series would read best if read in order, but each book can be read as a standalone story.

Picture
Wow, I think this series has had me feeling lots of different emotions. I honestly didn't think the series would keep my interest like the first book, but I was wrong about that - this series just gets better and better.  I will say that I had tears in my eyes at parts of this book, and then I would be laughing out loud at other parts.  You really do go on a emotional roller coaster with this book.

I really felt for Dusty, he was settled with his life, enjoying what he was doing, I don't think he thought he was missing anything - until he saw David, but then again it wasn't instant, it was gradual over the months David was in hospital after being beaten half to death.

Dusty didn't seem to understand what it was he was feeling towards David - oh he knew he felt protective about him, especially as it seems like David is all alone., but what about the rest of it.  The biggest hurdle that Dusty had, was the one of what his friends would think when they realised exactly who David was, completely ignoring the fact that David himself has been a victim of a beating.  Would Dusty be forced to choose between his friends and David?

Then his dad arrived on the scene, and this was the part that I was laughing at sometimes.  His dad, to me, came across as someone quite laid back, but was also not afraid to say what he thought.  However, the secret that he has brought with him, will rather rock Dusty's world.

Finally, my favourite men of all - the Dimir men.  I love these three, they all compliment each other, each one having a specific role in their relationship.  I am not going to give away any spoilers, but the final part of their dreams,  may be about to fall into place., or does it?

I have read this book more than once since receiving my review copy, and I have loved it every single time.   This is one series I hope goes on and on - every time a new book is due out, I just have to go back and read the whole series again. I honestly believe that there are a few more secrets to be revealed in this series, and I look forward to reading them, and catching up with all the men of All Cocks Inc.

Good Boys Blog Tour Banner

Title: Good Boys
Series: The Solomon Series, Book One
Author: Keelan Ellis
Genre: Gay Fiction, Detective, Mystery
Length: Novel
Publisher: Wayward Ink Publishing

Synopsis

Paul Solomon is a homicide detective in Baltimore, a city with a high murder rate and a complicated relationship between the police and the citizens they are sworn to protect.

He’s also a gay man who has been out on the job since he first joined. Being out on a tough police force hasn’t always been easy, but living with integrity is important to him.

Paul’s love life becomes as tumultuous as his job with the demise of his relationship of eight years. While dealing with the emotional and physical upheaval in his personal life, a case comes across his desk that hits a little too close to home—the murder of two gay teenagers.

Paul and his partner, Tim Cullen, must solve the double homicide, and Paul has to find a way to move on from his failed relationship.

If you are looking for a nice little romance book, then this is not the book for you. However, if you are looking for a good detective mystery book - then this is the book for you.  I will be looking out for the next book in this series, as it has been a while since I read a really good detective mystery, and this author has delivered that in this book.

To me, Paul Soloman is someone who doesn't really want to admit his relationship has run its course - I think he was relying on what he knew, and didn't want this to change, hence why he was still living with his ex-boyfriend well after their relationship was over.

He and his detective partner Tim Cullen were given a case of two gay boys found dead - and as the investigation takes place, I have to say it was full of twists and turns and details being uncovered that you just were not expecting.

Once Paul moves into his own place, he does meet someone else, but for some reason he decided not to pursue as a relationship, but just to meet just as friends, but that maybe for the best as the new friend is not quite who he seems at first.

He did meet someone - but this was someone he used to know years earlier..  He met him again, and at first it seemed like when they first met, but as time went by, it was obvious that both had changed. Was this a good thing for them both? Did they have a chance together??

I love that this is book one of The Solomon Series, and I hope that we will again be following both Paul and his detective partner Tim, in the cases they are assigned, but also with what is happening in their personal lives.

I really did enjoy this book, it was a fabulous detective mystery, rather than being on his love life - although this was obviously in the book.. I especially loved the twists and turns and where the evidence eventually took them.  This will be one series that I will be keeping a watch out for the next one.......

Synopsis

Music is Tim Chalmers’s great escape and the one thing that’s never let him down. But his band Spiral’s meteoric rise to fame has made it difficult for the drummer to maintain a low profile. Unwanted press pesters him after a public breakup with a volatile ex-girlfriend who loves the limelight as much as he loathes it. Tim’s main goal is to avoid confrontation. However, when he meets a handsome stranger in a dive bar who turns out to be someone he may know, everything changes. Carter Hamilton-Temple might be a successful financial consultant with more brains, sophistication, and charm than most, but he always falls for the wrong guys: closet cases or men with issues. He can’t fight his attraction to the tattooed rock star, but can he trust his own judgment? When the thrill of danger combined with a fierce physical connection proves too strong for either man to resist, a quiet liaison away from the public eye and curious friends seems like a safe bet. But some secrets are hard to keep. When rumors threaten to rock his world, Tim realizes it’s time to confront his fear with his own kind of honesty.

Excerpt

“What kind of a rock star are you? You’re supposed to love sex, drugs, and alcohol. I haven’t known you long, but you seem to only really like one out of three,” Carter commented idly as he shuffled the cards. “You’re right. I’m a sucky rock star. I rarely have more than one drink when I go out for dinner or even at a bar. Two at a party. Anything more usually leads to trouble. And I never take drugs. Even cold medicine makes me nervous.” I winked and gave him a lecherous grin that no doubt looked far from provocative in my current condition. “But I love sex.”
