William Richards grew up in Chicago, his family oddly normal and very accepting of his sexuality. Modeling paid the bills, gigs across the country as a model, male entertainer and a personal trainer giving him the opportunity to see the world. He hasnât experienced loss or pain as Beau has, the common denominator between them is the loneliness. As All Cocks big, brooding bottom Connor, William has found friendship, family and an outlet for his craving to be more submissive than men of his size and stature usually are.
The two men are perfect for each other, their tastes and lives align and the writing seems to be on the wall. But Beau has a secret he shares with a choice few, a secret that not only threatens to keep them apart, itâs deadly. Determined to keep a wall between himself and William, Beau fights the attraction, pushes William away every time he steps closer. Can one manâs determination and strength be enough to tear down a wall that holds back decades of pain and darkness? And if he can, will either of them survive the flood?
Disclaimer: This book is the fictional story of a man living with HIV. I have put a lot of time and effort into presenting this story as true to fact as possible, without going into gory or gruesome detail. If this subject is a trigger for you, you may want to skip this read. But my hope is that you give Beau a chance to capture your heart as he has mine, and Williamâs.
I just love the two mc's in this book - William and Beau. William is a big man, and you know from a previous book that he is a total bottom! I love this about him, it is nice to read about big men being a bottom, too often they are only thought of as tops. Now Beau, how do I describe Beau.... he was broken hearted when he lost the love of his life, and I suppose really only living half a life - until he met William who awoke something inside him, but he's afraid to act on it â the reason being the secret that not many people know.
William first sees Beau when he sees him outside Tristanâs office, and he is instantly taken with him â even if not a word is spoken between them. William then sees Beau again at the bar that he owns, and this time he approaches Beau but is given the cold shoulder. However, William is not one to give up, and he begins his pursuit of Beau.
Beau is conflicted, he is attracted to William, but is so afraid to act on these feelings. In some ways it comes across that he had the love of his life, and that he doesnât deserve to be happy again â not that he is right about this. William is actually relentless in going after Beau, and finally Beau concedes defeat, and agrees to go on a date with William, and finds that he actually does have fun. However, this is short lived, as Beau still has to confess his secret to William, and he is sure this will send him running as fast as he can in the other direction.
When the secret is finally revealed, William is angry with Beau for waiting until he had really started to fall for him big time, to tell him something so profound. Beau feels guilty, and is waiting for William to walk out the door. As Beau explains the whole sad story, many things about Beau and his actions become clearer to William, but one thing it doesnât do is walk out â much to the amazement of Beau.
Now begins a learning curve for William, and also some important changes in his life â but he is happy to do this, as long as he is with Beau. Beau cannot believe that William has stayed with him, and sometimes I think he wants to pinch himself to make sure he is awake and not dreaming everything.
This story is not all sunshine and roses, it deals with a real life situation that was dark in places. However, I think that is why I enjoyed this book so much, as it is so life like. I loved how the author dealt with the secret within Beau, and it was written so well, not making it all sweetness and light, but also not going the other way and making things over dramatic.
I hope to read more of William and Beau, as I think their story is really only just beginning.
There would always be a darkness looming though, the monkey on his back, the fact that he was HIV positive. Heâd watched the man he loved succumb to the virus, the strength and passion that made Beau fall in love with Izaiah slowly withering away as the disease ravaged his body. Knowing that something as simple as a common cold or a case of pneumonia could weaken his immune system badly enough to push his body over the edge had Beau trained to keep everyone in his life at arms-length.
If there was no one there to care for you when you were alive, then there wouldnât be anyone to destroy if they were the one to survive.
