Synopsis
Isaac Dalton is the guitarist for Spiral, arguably the biggest rock band in the world. The band’s meteoric rise to superstardom has its perks, but fame and fortune aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Nonstop touring and performing exhaust him, and when an overzealous fan makes it imperative that Isaac travel with a clingy bodyguard, he is ready for a break from the madness. More so when his newly single first crush shows up on his doorstep. The man is strictly off-limits. He’s a memory from a place Isaac would rather leave behind. And he’s straight. Fun-loving former athlete slash construction worker Adam McBride desperately needs a new beginning. And New York City is the perfect place to start over and think about how to rebuild his life. A short stint as roommates with his brother’s best friend from high school seems like a mutually beneficial arrangement. However, when friendship gives way to fierce attraction, both men find themselves in uncharted and possibly dangerous territory. Isaac has to decide if he’s willing to take the ultimate risk for a kind of love and a kind of home he never dreamed possible. For some reason, I didn’t like Issac as much as other MC’s. He did grow on me as I read and when you first meet him, he is totally exhausted and just wants to get to his house and relax….. however, this isn’t possible when he arrives there and finds his best friends brother already in his house. A complication he really doesn’t need.
Adam is trying to rebuild his life, and staying with Issac seems to be the best way to get the ball rolling for his new life in New York City. However, Issac for doesn’t seem happy to find he has roommate!! They are both as different as chalk and cheese.
Slowly they begin to find that they enjoy each other’s company, especially as Adam has different jobs and is out during the day and sometimes in the evenings too, plus Issac has appearances with the band he has to fulfil, so at times they don’t actually see each other!
Things change one evening, but the following morning it is like things have changed but not in a good way. Throw into the mix a fan that is a tad overzealous and things are even more complicated. As you read, you can see Issac wants everything Adam is offering him, but he is really hesitant about things – I guess as he never really had good role models growing up.
Adam has to persevere to make Issac believe that he can accept what he is offering, but Issac is still very wary of taking the final step. Can Adam convince Issac to take the ultimate risk or is this a step too far for Issac to take??
