Ivan Hart has lived and bled one creed all of his life: To Serve and Protect. His intense focus and determination in law enforcement has led him to finally commanding his own team. He’d worked hard to put together a squad of badasses capable of backing up a very dangerous team of detectives. Being God and Day’s last line of defense came with a lot of responsibility that he took very seriously.
After his divorce was final Hart turned right around and remarried his job. He had his good friends there in the office with him every day, so it was easier to ignore the few quiet hours he spent at home alone each night. He’d settled well into his new routine and was comfortable with it. Then God decided to disrupt everything by hiring another tech specialist for his department. A man whose brains, trendy looks, and voice would leave Hart tongue-tied and captivated at their first introduction.
Free quickly awakens a passion in Hart that he long thought was dead. An attraction he didn’t know existed. He couldn’t fathom that the sexy cyber genius could be interested in an over-sized, big-bearded brute that served criminals the bottom line for a living. No matter what his best friend, God said.
A future with Hart could be potentially dangerous and often times full of terrifyingly close calls; but little did he know that so could falling for the most hunted hacker in the world. All Lennox Freeman wants in life is security, love and protection… Hart had all that to give and more.
This novel is a part of a series and contains previously mentioned characters, but CAN BE read as a standalone. No cliffhangers.
To begin with, you can feel the attraction between Free and Hart, but both are aware of the attraction, but both are also more or less shying away from it. Both have things from things from their past that seems to continue to haunt them at times, and they both seem to keep to themselves - but fate and attraction has their own way of doing things.
Once Free and Hart are actually spending time together, it really becomes really obvious that they are ideal for each other. Hart is busy at work, and his brain is frequently running in a hundred different directions at once, but Free has a way of calming his mind, of stopping him doubting his actions if things didn't go as planned.
Now Free just really wants a simple life - he just wants somewhere to park his RV and a job he enjoys. He seems to have everything he wants, but he does yearn for more when he first sees Hart. Hart although bigger than him, makes him feel safe, and Free I don't think has felt that for a while.
Now is when the fun starts between the two, and I loved how their relationship grew. There is one part of the book with Free's invention that I wasn't sure about believing, but then I thought this is fiction, I want to go into a world where anything is possible, and who is to say that there is not anything like that in the world already......
This is great addition to the series, and I look forward to seeing how Free and Hart are faring in the next book, as well as visiting old friends too. I hope I am right in who I am thinking will be the next book, but I guess that depends on whether the guys are talking to Adrienne.
I’m so happy to be back with the next installment from my Nothing Special series. It’s been a while since I visited with my guys and let me tell you it was one helluva ride they took me on. This title has all the guys you love from the previous stories and some new that I’m sure you’ll adore. Which can make this title stand on its own. Since my last two novels, my alpha lovers have asked for more action and hotter romance. I hope I delivered.
I’m doing a guest post on each stop of my limited tour and each one WILL BE DIFFERENT. I never know what to talk about or say for a post – not wanting to do the usual – so I’m gonna talk about my many experiences I had over the several months of writing this book. Some will be funny quips, cute tales, people I spoke to, emotions I experienced, etc.
What I wanna talk about on Gay Media Reviews today is how much I’m looking forward to 2019. I don’t know how 2018 has been for many of you but for me it’s been difficult. I’ve had so many experiences, some that changed me in drastic ways. Grief being the biggest. I’d never had to feel it before. The death of my brother was a shock. The death of a dear author friend in this genre, rocked me to my core. Just so much. But, you know, it doesn’t make me want to crawl into a dark corner and mourn forever. No. I will celebrate what their lives meant to me. I will write my heart out, because both of those individuals loved what I did. I want to – now more than ever - live each and every day to the fullest.
Thank you all for listening and thank you so much Dawn for letting me stop by again.
2019 will be the start of a lot of new things for me in my writing. Make sure you’re checking out my overhauled, prettily-polished website for the New Year and see what’s popping off first. http://authoraevia.com

There were plenty of good-looking, well-built men there, and enough women to keep the straight men happy, but Pubs was a LGBTQ-friendly bar. The two women who owned it were married and didn’t tolerate an ounce of hatred in their establishment. Not to mention it was smack in the middle of what they’d nicknamed ‘blue central’ because there were cops and law officials all over the area. Their precinct was literally one street away. SWAT headquarters was less than four miles away, and the courthouse and city jail were around the corner.
He’d been coming to the Pub with God and Day since they were beat officers, and he’d still been a sergeant based at headquarters. Throughout those years, he’d definitely noticed the strong men who’d passed in and out of that front door. He had eyes, for sure. Hell, even the man sitting beside him was known to turn heads, and so did his husband, but Hart had never seen any of them like that. Probably, because a lot of the men in there were a decent size, and God was just as broad as him. He didn’t believe he was attracted to that type of man.
His leg bounced even harder. I can’t believe I’m thinking of doing this. He’s not gonna want me like that. Hart scratched at his thick beard. It’d gotten even longer since he’d been gone on assignment. He took a nervous gulp of his club soda as his inner thoughts started to attack his confidence. What if Free doesn’t like a lot of body hair either? Teresa hated it.
“You’ve got to relax,” God whispered sternly. “You’re supposed to be unwinding after a long op.”
“I am relaxed,” Hart snarled, not meeting God’s sharp green eyes. Instead, he clamped his teeth together and held his jaw tight.
“The hell you are. You look like you’re watching a gynecological exam.” God released a deep laugh, slapping him on his back.
“Fuck you, bighead. I guess I’m not as cool as you guys. I acted all nonchalant in the break room when I asked him to come out tonight—like you told me to do—and he didn’t show up. Thanks, Cash.” Hart ground his molars, feeling like a fool, mostly an old fool, “He’s young and smart, so why—”
God’s heavy hand came down on his shoulder and squeezed him firmly. The teasing glint was gone and the deep frown in the center of his forehead told him he was being dead serious, “I’ve known you a long time, Ivan. I’ve seen you bust your ass on the force and grow into a badass captain. I’ve watched you put yourself out there for everyone else, never expecting anything in return. It’s time you added a little playtime into your busy schedule.
A.E. has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Virginia Wesleyan College that she used to start her own paralegal firm after she graduated in 2008. She spent five years preparing and filing bankruptcy petitions for struggling blue collar workers who couldn’t afford to file with a lawyer. It was a rewarding and satisfying career… but another path called to me. Writing.
A.E.’s writing embodies everything from hopelessly romantic to adventure, to scandalous. Her stories often include intriguing edges and twists that take readers to new, thought-provoking depths.
Now that she’s gotten over her 10 books published hump, she’s kind of known now for her play rough and love hard, bad boy, alphas. However, I do like to push myself to step out of my comfort zone and explore with different tropes, but I never push myself into a whole other genre. I’m head over heels for gay romance and I have tons of more hot stories to tell.
