Just What the Truth Is
I think Ben knew from an early age that he was gay, but with how his parents reacted when his brother admitted he was gay, meant he was firmly in the closet and wasn't coming out any time soon. He was very unhappy, and I think angry at himself too for trying to be what others wanted and not who he was deep inside.
When Ben first met Micah, he was so attracted to him, and when they spent time together he felt happy for the first time for years. Ben and Micah become closer, and Ben finally admits to his brother that he is seeing a man - I should point out that Noah Ben's brother always knew he was gay, and was constantly on at him for hiding who he was.
Ben and Micah seemed to be getting on really well, until a comment Micah makes one day, Ben seems to blow out of all proportion, and it all seems to unravel. Ben is heartbroken believing that he has now lost Micah, and then does some deep soul searching as well as speaking to his brother Noel.
Ben now has to make the biggest decision of his life... does he try and sort things with Micah? Does he go back to his old life (before Micah)? Does he finally come out of the closet and tell everyone he is gay?
I love this narrator too, Alexander Collins is again someone I could listen to all day long, and I have to say, I would certainly look for other books he has narrated. He seems to have gentle sort of soothing voice, but you can still get the emotions flowing around the story.
