But while riding high on a wave of success, he’s blindsided by a series of betrayals from the people he trusts the most. In the space of a single day, John's perfect life unexpectedly unravels when his career falters and his marriage implodes. Following a final, devastating blow, John assumes a new identity as “Peter” and flees to Provincetown, where a tight-knit community of eclectic characters slowly transforms him. Peter finds himself drawn to Danny Cavanaugh, an enigmatic carpenter who is struggling to come to terms with his own troubled past. While in his new life in a new place, Peter finds himself quite attracted to Danny, a carpenter who has issues with his own past as well. Now they are working together and becoming good friends and falling in love with each other. He finds out that, what sent him running from DC has now completely turned around in his favor and pulls him back to the political world. This treacherous life in DC could very possibly ruin any chances he has at love and a happy life with Danny.
This was such a joy to read an M/M novel written by a gay man and written from a gay mans perspective. I truly enjoyed the writing style of Mr. Freshwater and the journey he takes his readers on is simply brilliant. I was so completely impressed with the character of John/Jeff and everything he lost and was still open to finding love again. This is a great political story and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to read about MM romance, political life, drama, intrigue, betrayal, journey of self discovery and unconditional love!!!
