Jet Black doesn’t date. Even if he wanted a man beyond sex, his ever-watchful identical twin scares potential suitors away. Jet lives with his brother, but since Gray fell in love with Kris, Jet feels like a third wheel. Despite their bond, Jet knows he needs to move out and experience life for himself, whether Gray likes it or not.
After his father dies in a boating accident, Ethan Nichols is devastated. As the last survivor of his family, he realizes the need to put down roots. He leaves Australia and returns home to San Francisco and his old architectural firm. But there’s more to building a new life than simply moving house.
Jet and Ethan’s first encounter is brash and anonymous, but when Ethan moves across the hall, their lives become irrevocably linked. Jet is quirky and fun loving, while Ethan is rock steady and dependable. There’s no denying the passionate spark between them.
But Ethan is looking for a more solid foundation than Jet is ready to offer. Until Jet learns to spread his wings and trust Ethan with his darkest secrets, building a life together will be impossible.
**This can be read as a standalone, however it is best enjoyed reading the series in order as side characters play a major role.**
Jet doesn’t date at all, and it is not because he doesn’t want to – he just doesn’t know how to date plus his over protective brother tends to scare people away! I can totally understand why Gray is protective of Jet, but Jet is desperate to get out and live his own life – especially as Gray now has Kris, and he is now feeling I think in some ways jealous of Gray, he wants what Gray has.
Jet does meet Ethan, but he only knows him as Mr Fine, and it was a quick romp while Jet was at work one night! Jet never dreams of seeing Ethan again, but then he moves in across the hall from where Jet lives with Gray and Kris. This part I have to say I laughed at, as Ethan has no idea that Jet had a twin!!
Jet and Ethan meet for a date eventually, but as Jet hasn’t ever dated, it was quite sweet to read about how flustered he was, and he also had no idea what he was meant to do. This was really apparent when they got back to Ethan’s and he asked Jet in for coffee, who took this to mean having sex! Jet seemed really unsure when Ethan told him no, even when he explained why. It really is clear now, that Jet has only had hook ups and no relationships at all. He seems totally lost at what he is meant to do now.
Slowly, Jet and Ethan manage to start a relationship, but Jet wasn’t able to tell Ethan his biggest secret, for reasons you totally can understand. However, secrets never stay secret for long, and it is totally out of the blue that part of the secret reveals itself, but with dire consequences for Jet.
Will Jet get the chance to speak to Ethan and tell him the whole secret? The biggest problem is that Jet has no idea where Ethan is, or even if he will listen to what Jet has to say….
I totally loved this book, I have never read a book with twin brothers that are so close, and in which the author really managed to get their emotions over on each page. I think the oh so close relationship between Jet and Gray is really what made this book special to me. I would highly recommend not only this book, but the series. Each book was special in its own way, but this one is my favorite from them all.
“I feel like I should apologize for Gray, but I think he’s starting to come around. Thank you for putting up with him.” Jet ran his fingers down my forearm before linking them with mine.
“It’s okay. I can see he’s cautious of me, and I suspect he’s just looking out for you. He broods like a mother hen, though.”
Jet laughed and rolled his eyes. “Oh God. You have no idea. He’s not normally this bad, but I’ve never dated anyone before either. I think he sees that you’re good for me, even though he won’t admit it. When he’s convinced you’re a good guy, he’ll be better, and if he isn’t, then he’ll just have to get used to it. I suspect Kris is having a word with him right now.”
Raising our clasped hands, I ran the back of my knuckles down his cheek. “Is that what we’re doing? Dating?” I didn’t know how Jet felt or what he wanted. Now was as good a time as any to find out if we were on the same page.
Jet blushed and glanced toward his bare feet, lowering our hands. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to assume.”
“Hey.” I lifted his chin with our still-entwined fingers. “I want that. I just need to know if you want the same thing.”
Jet nodded before rising up on his toes and kissing me gently. “Please.”
Deepening the kiss, I dragged his body closer to mine until we were pressed tightly together. Jet opened for me, letting me explore his mouth with my tongue, the smoothness of his teeth. Heat washed over me as we continued kissing in the corridor between our two condos. Jet wrapped one leg around my hip, then jumped up, forcing me to hold on to his backside as he bit and sucked at my neck. He ground his hardening cock against mine before releasing me quickly, landing on his feet and backing toward his door with a wicked smile. I had a feeling Jet liked playing games. Not manipulative, screw-with-your-head type games, but rather fun, flirty, teasing games. He turned around, his hand on the door handle. He stuck his ass out and wriggled it before giving me a wink and disappearing inside.
I shook my head as I opened my front door. This relationship was not going to be boring.
RJ's initial thought was if she could write their scene then they'd shut up and allow her to concentrate on other aspects of the day. That shower scene was 3000 words long and three hours of work. But they didn't shut up. They told her their entire story and she didn't sleep for days. Sometimes she couldn't keep up with what they were telling her and she had to keep a notebook by the bed.
Whilst RJ was writing their story a side character decided he needed his story told too. Then other characters followed suit.
You see the problem? If RJ ever wants to sleep again then she needs to write.
RJ is a wife and a mother to two boys. Even her dog is a boy.
She is surrounded by males.
RJ writes emotionally charged, character driven romances. Her guys will always get their HEA, but it will never be easy.
