Adam to begin with you will love, he still has some things which hold him back from actually falling in love with someone, but then again perhaps he hadn't met the person who would make him take a look at his life, and who he could talk to without any judgement.
Rafe is someone who is totally in the closet, even though he knows he is gay. Rico has hid who he really is from his teenage years, and only his work partner Gideon really knows he is gay. This is all because of who his father is, but Rico loves his father and doesn't want to upset him or lose him in any way - even if this means he never finds true love.
The two men meet, and I guess you could say they become friends with benefits, as neither man is looking for anything more - or so they think. It was quite fun to read them getting closer and closer, but neither seemed to really realise. Then Rico finds out his father is could get the job of his dreams, and Rico decides that he can't be with Adam and ends things, as nobody can find out they were together.
Adam is totally devastated that Rico has ended things between them, and takes it really hard. Rico isn't actually a lot better, he again has put his fathers happiness before his own, just like he has always done. In the end, it is a fire that brings the two back to talking to each other, and they both realise that they care deeply for each other.
However, both men have some big decisions to make, and also to be totally honest with each other, including each speaking about their past, which seems to be a big stumbling block. Plus Rico needs to decide who he is going to live his life for - himself or live his life by his fathers rules.
