He isn’t much closer to deciding what to do with his life when he arrives at one of Australia’s largest events, the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and meets Joey Callaway.
Since Joey’s father’s tragic death left Joey the family’s debt-ridden pub, Joey has struggled, desperate to turn the business around and give his mum the life she deserves. A break away from the pressures of running the pub is just what he needs, and a hook-up with Adam is the perfect way to forget about his troubles.
The one-night stand might just be an opening act. If Adam and Joey can follow the music in their hearts, perhaps they can heal each other and create a melody that will last a lifetime.
Joey was struggling to keep his place The Central Hotel running. It was supposed to be a family adventure, with his mum and dad until his dad died. Joey could not see a way of changing things around.
Adam is the total opposite. He was working with his father, but soon became disillusioned with how his father conducted business. He then takes a year to see where he wants to see his life going.
A music festival is where Joey and Adam meet. Adam was playing his guitar, and Joey watches seemingly mesmerised. The two exchange names, and then spend the rest of the day together.
Both are wary, but they get on so well together, and when Joey realises Adam has nowhere to stay, he invites him to bunk down in the room he has rented.
As the days pass, they really enjoy each others company and are getting closer to each other - until fate intervenes again, this time a call to Joey to say his mum has been injured.
Joey returns home alone, and he is moping around, missing Adam like crazy..... until the day Adam walks into the bar. Joey is so happy, and even Adam admits he missed Joey.
The two grow closer still, and Adam is trying to help Joey make some changes to bring in more money, until the fates step in again, and this time it is Adam that has to go - his beloved grandmother has had a stroke.
Is there any chance for Adam and Joey, it seems like the fates are against them all the time.....
I really loved this story, as it was two people from different backgrounds. Both were at a crossroads in their lives, and until they met had no idea what to do. As this story finishes, you meet the MC for the next book, which I can't wait to read.
Always a reader, the lure of m/m romance was strong and she devoured hundreds of wonderful m/m romance books before eventually realising she had some stories of her own that needed to be told!
When not writing or reading, she loves to spend time with her family–an understanding husband and two beautiful daughters–and is often found indulging in her love of cooking and planning her dream home in the country.
You can find Nic on Facebook, Twitter and her blog. She’d love it if you stopped by to say hi.
