Anticipation rode Zak hard. He knew what he had to do. Planned it. Came determined. This trip, the two-week cabin retreat he could never afford, the rowboatâmy accidentâhad been in the works for months. And now⦠now Zak cowered in his waterlogged rowboat.
What drew you to write a story for the anthology?
I had an amazing time in Chicago last year, experiencing fall & Halloween for the first time and everything that went along with that time of year. So when the theme for this anthology was set, I knew exactly what I wanted to write.
What was your inspiration to write a story for this anthology?
Do you use pictures as inspiration.
As mentioned previously my inspiration was my trip to Chicago. I did actually use pictures, but they were from my person photo library. Pics of trees in all their fall colours, hay rides, corn mazes, pumpkin carving. They all bring back wonderful memories and I hope I was able to convey that in my writing.

Having read the blurb, I am quite fascinated by Beside A Black Tarn, and wonder if the author ever thinks that this will actually become part of life in the future?
I'm not sure about Angel's thoughts but god I hope so. I really don't want to live in a world where Shax the demon prince of thieves isn't a reality.
Do you think anthologies are a good way to get more authors work seen - I know from experience that I have found new to me authors this way.
I believe so. Especially when you have such a diverse group of authors as these are. It's easy to come across someone you haven't read before, or even someone you wouldn't usually read.
What do you do if you hit a block while writing a book, or do you write more than one book at a time?â¯
I only ever write one book at a time, and usually if I hit a block, I take a step back for a day or two. If that's still not helping, then I try and brainstorm ideas of how to get my characters out of the mess they're in. (Usually by complaining to my author friends in the US. LOL)
Where is your favourite place to sit writing? (I have read comments from authors who love writing while in coffee shops etc).
âI love writing in cafes, however, as I hate the smell of coffee, I'm very fussy as to which one I chose. Mostly though I sit in my leather recliner with my laptop and write in my living room.
