Ryan, I really wanted to hug. He came across to me as someone who felt so insecure in some ways, he had been with four doms before and none had collared him. I am sure he was convinced that there was something very wrong with him, and because of this he was building a wall around himself that nobody could get through. I think he also thought himself still in love with his previous Dom still, but I don't believe he was, he just wanted someone who he could submit to totally.
When Sam enters the frame, he definitely comes across as someone that has the time and patience to break through the wall that Ryan has erected around himself. I loved the way that Sam handled him with kid gloves, but also with a firm hand too! Sam seemed to know what to do to help Ryan confess what he wanted., but I think that in some ways this helped Sam too.
The road was rather rocky for Sam and Ryan, with a few misunderstandings along the way, but you can see both their points of view during this, but I will say sometimes I wanted to shout at Ryan that he was throwing away something good. But then again on the other hand, I also wanted to shout at Sam at times too.
I have to say, I loved reading the wax scenes in this book, I did find that these were really hot to read (as were all the other scenes in the book), but for some reason the wax really hit the mark with me. Although I was unsure, I could not put the book down, as I wanted to know if Sam could finally break through Ryan's tough exterior. I look forward to reading more by this author.
