Mac McGrath has lived in Armidale all his life. He loves his family and his job as an electrician, running the family business. The only thing missing in his life is a relationship. When Ty, his teenage crush, arrives back in town, maybe he has found someone to love at last.
What starts as friends with benefits quickly turns to more for Mac, but Ty will need to let go of his memories if he is to learn to love again. But can Mac wait that long?
We meet Ty, who at first comes across as totally standoffish, but there is a reason for this, and that is told at the beginning of the book where we learn his two loves both died. The first one in his teens and the second being his reason to move to Armidale.
We also meet Mac, who is a happy go lucky guy, he has great friends, his family nearby and a job that he really enjoys. All that is missing from all this is someone for him to love who will love him equally in return.
Ty is attracted to Mac as soon as he meets him, but due to the traumatic events in his past, it seems like he has decided that he is never going to chance loving anyone ever again, as this only leads to heartache.
Ty and Mac meet, and they start a friends with benefits relationship, but Mac has high hopes of changing the status of this to being in a relationship, but when he mentions this to Ty, he does not get the reaction that he thought he would. Mac is left totally heartbroken, and he decides that he must cut his losses and try and forget Ty - which is easier said than done.
It takes other people talking to Ty, and an event with Mac and his dog Shadow for Ty to realise that his feelings for Mac are not as clear cut as he first thought.... that he does feel love for Mac. But has he left it too late to tell Mac how he really feels??
I am really enjoying reading this series from Nic Starr, and I am looking forward to book 3 in the series, which I believe is due out sometime in March.
Always a reader, the lure of m/m romance was strong and she devoured hundreds of wonderful m/m romance books before eventually realising she had some stories of her own that needed to be told!
When not writing or reading, she loves to spend time with her family–an understanding husband and two beautiful daughters–and is often found indulging in her love of cooking and planning her dream home in the country.
You can find Nic on Facebook, Twitter and her blog. She’d love it if you stopped by to say hi.
