The sheriff is someone that I didn't like much at first, he seemed to take what he wanted, and gave nothing in return, and Conner accepted this the first time, but boy did he have a temper when he needed it, and it was great to see him standing up for himself, not letting things happen as they had previously.
I can understand the Sheriff (Rocky) sort of behaving like he did, but he came across to me as someone having rather a large chip on his shoulder. He also had a daughter who he was really protective of, and he did seem to keep his private life well hidden, any liaisons he had were normally in the next town over.
Once the murder happened, the book seemed to pick up pace, especially as this didn't happen until half way through the book. This part was written well, as I had no idea of how things had happened. By the end of the book, the murder had been solved, but I should also emphasize that this is not a HEA book, as the romance is still brewing, and this building during the series.
