Lucky Coleman is on his knees when he meets a man with more money than sense. It’s a Grindr hook-up for cash, not a love match, but dreaming of his desperate, kind eyes earns a place amongst his numerous bad habits.
Meeting once was risky, twice pushes Dom’s courage to the limit. Losing Lucky seems inevitable, but his tight grip on his image counts for nothing when Lucky starts to fall.
Catching him could cost Dom everything, but if he can set his heart free, getting Lucky long term might be a risk worth taking.
When we first meet Dominic, you would think that he has everything, and how he gets to meet Lucky, and the extremes levels he goes to does show some paranoia on his part – but as you read on, you realise why he is so paranoid and exactly what he does have to lose. Now Lucky, is definitely not like his name. He is homeless and relies on his best friend for a bed some nights, but he just keeps going, determination I think should be his middle name..
The hidden side of Dominic yearns to meet someone else who is gay, so he resorts to using Grindr to find a hook-up, and this is how he meets Lucky – and this is meant to be a one off meeting, but there was something about Lucky that pulled at Dominic, and it doesn’t end at just one hook up.
Dominic and Lucky both lead very different lives, and you get to see things from both of their points of view, and this is rather an eye opener to me anyway. Dominic has to keep his secret well hidden, and this is really making him unhappy, it really was destroying him inside. Now Lucky obviously doesn’t hide that he is gay, but his life is not easy either - but there is something between the two men, which really does throw them both.
While Dom is away for a little while, everything seems to go wrong for Lucky. Lucky now seems to be at rock bottom, and the one person he wishes could help pull him out isn't there to help. But would Dom help him even if he was around? Lucky really has no idea. Dom on the other hand is really missing Lucky, and he seems to be in his thoughts all the time, and he can't wait to get back home and see Lucky, even though he knows he should stay away.
When Dom does try and contact Lucky, he finds things have changed.... can he help Lucky or is it better to walk away now. Dom has some serious deep soul searching to do before he does anything.....
