Rayne Sadler left the tiny town of Holiday Pines and his childhood sweetheart, Emilio Rives, to make a name for himself in the world of interior design. For twelve years, he never looked back. Now he has the successful career he wanted, but no one to share his life.
Emilio isn’t happy when Rayne returns to Holiday Pines to renovate the local playhouse. The town wants to stimulate the failing tourist industry, but Emilio has no interest in reviving the ashes of his relationship with Rayne.
Yet shared memories and experiences are powerful things. As the playhouse is restored to its former glory, the friendship between Rayne and Emilio slowly returns as well, and their chemistry is as powerful as ever. Rayne has designs on Emilio’s heart, and he sets out to prove it. Will the magic of Christmas thaw Emilio’s heart, or will it remain as cold as mountain snow?
Rayne returns to Holiday Pines, the town he left twelve years earlier, which also means he will see Emilio Rives - the childhood sweetheart he left behind when he left. Rayne is not sure what sort of reception he will get, but what he doesn't expect is Emilio to be more or less hostile towards him.
Emilio has not forgiven Rayne for leaving him behind, and seems really resentful that Rayne has returned. However, as Rayne works to renovate the playhouse, he and Emilio are thrown together more and more and they manage to work things out to work together not against each other.
Slowly, the two grow closer, and Rayne soon knows that he made a mistake in leaving Emilio all those years ago, that he still loves Emilio and he always will. Emilio knows he still loves Rayne, but he is not sure that Rayne will stay around this time, and is reluctant to show his true feelings. Will Rayne be able to convince Emilio that he is not leaving and they have the chance of being together and having something special.
This is a friends to lovers story, and is what I would say is a nice gentle read, just the right sort of story for Christmas.
Arionrhod is a systems engineer by day who is eagerly looking forward to (hopefully) becoming a full time writer in the not-too-distant future. Now that she is an empty-nester, she has turned her attentions to finding the perfect piece of land to build a fortress in preparation for the zombie apocalypse, and baking (and eating) far too many cakes.
McKay is an English teacher who has been writing for one reason or another most of her life. She also enjoys knitting, reading, cooking, and playing video games. She has been known to knit in public. Given she has the survival skills of a gnat, she’s relying on Arionrhod to help her survive the zombie apocalypse.
