More determined than ever to hunt down the man that nearly killed the love of his life, Cade will do everything in his power to ensure that he and Braden will be able to live the life of their dreams with nothing and no one standing in their way. Meanwhile, hidden just out of their reach, an increasingly deranged stalker watches…and waits.
Author’s Note: Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, it is highly recommended that you read book 1, Trusting Cade, first. For those of you that prefer warnings—trigger or otherwise—use the “Look Inside” feature to find them within the first several pages. For those of you that prefer to be surprised, avoid the front matter of the book. . . Happy reading!
We pick up the story from the end of Trusting Cade, and Brayden is in a diabetic coma in the hospital. Cade is devastated by what has happened, and I think he blames himself for not keeping Brayden safe. When Brayden awakens from his diabetic coma, he first of all believes that he is back with his stalker, and is totally terrified, until Cade manages to get through to him that he is safe. However, this attack has left Brayden afraid of everyone and everything, and only Cade can calm him – which causes problems when Cade isn’t in Brayden’s field of vision.
Slowly Brayden begins to get better, but he is still terrified about his stalker coming for him again, and Cade and his team are determined not to let that happen, but it seems like the man has vanished into thin air. Will they be able to find him to then give Brayden peace of mind? At the moment, with his stalker still at large, Brayden is still afraid.
Cade and his team are still trying to protect Brayden, but for some reason Brayden decides to have a massive temper tantrum while out running with Cade, thus giving his stalker the ideal opportunity to grab him once again. Once again, Cade and his team manage to track down where he is, and decide to go and get him back, but when they get there, the stalker has already beaten Brayden again and shot him. Will Cade and his team be able to save Brayden again??
I will say that at this part of the story, I was reading in tears, but I won’t say why. The raw emotions of the characters just poured off the pages as you read, and it was like you were living through this time with them. As I read, I was thinking, no this wasn’t supposed to happen! It has been a while since I read a book that had me totally gripped, I even wanted to try and read faster, to see what happened.
This is one series that I really do look forward to reading more of, and I hope there are quite a few more in the series.. Luna David has the romance, but what she also has is a totally gripping story too, and I think this is why I love this series so much. I have lost count of the number of times I have read both books in the series, these are part of my read again books when I have no reviews.
She loves anything book, coffee or dark chocolate related and can't think of a better way to pass the time than to combine all three. She can't remember a time when she wasn't addicted to reading or creating her own stories, if only in her head. It wasn't until recently that she began to believe she could actually put those stories to paper.
She is blessed enough to have wonderfully supportive family and friends and she counts herself lucky every day that she gets to not only be a stay at home mom to her kids, but to also pursue her dream of becoming a published author.
