If I am totally honest, I had no idea of what I was going to find when I read this book, it is so different to what I usually read. I will also say that I have not read any of the other books in the series, but as the blurb does say this can be read as a standalone, and this is totally correct.
When we first meet Mark, he has just changed 40, but is really feeling his years!! He works for an online magazine, and they give him a special assignment, based on a company called youthology. Everything he read about them seemed like a dream come true for him.
Mark agreed to do the assignment, and went to Youthology to choose his donor, the person whose blood he would like to receive, and he chose someone called Nick.
To begin with, all seems well with Mark, and it seems like it is all working as it should, Mark is feeling better, more healthy and is really beginning to enjoy life again. However, he then begins to notice little differences about himself, and even his close friends are noticing things about him too. He used to be an even tempered, laid back guy, but now he was easy to anger, and would retaliate before thinking things though.
Mark then begins to notice that his physical characteristics are changing, but he seems to be loving his new looks - but one thing he doesn't like is the dreams that seem to come frequently.
He also meets someone who soon becomes the love of his life, who talked about an ex-boyfriend, and soon Mark realises he knows who the man is, but keeps this to himself. However, will this secret stay with him, or will the ex-boyfriend say something?
Mark is now having to make decisions that he never thought he would make, and comes up with a plan to make sure his life stays as it is - and I have to admit I was not expecting this and what happened.
This book was a little dark in places, but not enough to stop me reading. If you love dark romances, then this book is for you. Although I found this dark, it will not stop me for looking for other books by this author.
