As CEO of his company, Carrington Enterprises, Seth Burns is a take-charge kind of guy, and he is instantly smitten by the artist helping with his newest project. When he witnesses James suffer a panic attack, a protective instinct he never knew he had kicks in. He truly believes nothing is unobtainable—including James—if he’s willing to put in the time and effort.
James is shy and confused by Seth’s interest in him as a person. With Seth’s support, can he work through his fears to finally find the true love he deserves, or will someone finally land the crushing blow he won’t survive?
In Designs of Desire, we meet James and Seth. James is someone who has the most abominable family, and his last partner was someone who nearly killed him with the abuse. He has lost so much confidence in himself, and quite clearly believes that he is unloveable, and is very wary of people that he doesn't know. Seth is the total opposite of James, confident with himself, and he finds himself strangely drawn to James when he employs James' company to produce some artwork for his hotel.
James has a very good close friend called Chase (and I totally love Chase and wish I had me one of them!), and it was like he was pushing James towards Seth. James is attracted to Seth, but due to what happened in his previous relationship, he is unsure.
It takes all Seth's perseverance to knock down the walls that James has erected around himself, and this was frustrating at times too, as Seth thought he was being caring and loving, but James saw things as meaning he was useless and couldn't do anything himself.
Just as they seem to be getting on well, a big secret from Seth's past explodes around them, and this tests the strength of the relationship they have. Also, there are the problems that James is now encountering, and this then puts more of a strain on everything. Is Seth able to to show James that he does love him body and soul? Will James ever believe that Seth loves him for who he is, and doesn't believe he is incapable of things?
