Bonded by their parents before they were conceived, wolf shifters Abel and Kai adored each other since they were children. As teens, the two future Alphas took the next step in their bonding process and vowed to remain true to one another until Kai came of age. But when tragedy struck, Abel felt betrayed and ran from Kai instead of completing their mating.
Abel never stops yearning for the man who was supposed to lead by his side and after years without contact, Kai returns, broken and on death's door. If Abel wants to fulfill their destiny and merge their packs, he'll need to look past what he saw and trust his heart.
Abel believes that he was betrayed by Kai - in the worst way possible - and this was on the day that they were supposed to bond to each other for life., on Kais 18th Birthday. Feeling desperately hurt, Abel returns to his pack and tries to forget Kai, but this is an impossible task.
We then travel on ten years later, and Abel is now the Alpha of his pack, and still he cannot forget about Kai, but is determined to run his pack on his own. He receives a visitor on his packlands, and it is Kais sister Kelly, who is begging Abel to help save her brother. Abel totally refuses to go and help, still convinced that Kai had betrayed him.... but as the saying goes - looks can be deceiving..
Kai is in such a bad way, and will let nobody near him........ and Abel hears the howls and whimpers and cannot stop himself from going to his mate. As soon as Abel sits on the floor beside Kai - who is in his wolf form - he is then astounded when Kai curls up in his lap. Abel is devastated at the state of Kai, fur matted and dirty, painfully thin and even more horrified when Kelly tells him that Kai went into the forest to die.
Abel takes Kai in his arms and into his room, and Kai still remains in his wolf form, not returning to his human side until much later. Once in his human form, Abel persuades him to tell him the story of what happened and Abel is heartbroken of what Kai has had to endure. Kai is still convinced that Abel will not want him now..... but Abel has to persuade him otherwise.
I love the characters of Abel and Kai in this book, but also the characters of Kai's sister and Abel's brothers, although bad things had happened, you could not help but smile at the antics of the siblings!
I look forward to reading more shifter books from Cardeno C, as every single one of hers I have read I could not put down until I had finished.

I opened my eyes and set sight on the fully grown version of his human form. His thick eyebrows and long eyelashes were the same. So were his full lips. But his nose had a new bump in the middle, like it’d been broken and healed wrong, and there was a scar across his forehead. I didn’t realize I was tracing it with my finger until he spoke.
“Not so pretty anymore, am I?”
I flicked my gaze toward his, but he was looking away.
“You’re even more gorgeous now than you were last time I saw you.” I cupped his chin and raised it so I could look into his eyes. “Your features are just as delicate, but this”—I ghosted my hand over his nose—“and this”—I did the same to the mark on his forehead—“make you look rugged too, tough. I like the scars.”
“They’re ugly,” he said brokenly. “Outside and in, the scars are ugly.” He ran his gaze over my face. “Not like you.” He combed his fingers through my hair. “I missed your curls.” He stroked my sideburns. “Still chocolate brown everywhere, no silver yet.” He touched my cheek and upper lip. “The beard’s new. I like it.” He rubbed his thumb under my eyes. “I never met anyone with eyes this shade of blue, you know that? They’re like the ocean after a storm, swirls of gray all mixed in.” He moved one finger down my nose to my lips. “Still straight.” He flicked his gaze to mine and then looked away again. “You’re perfect. No scars on you.”
“You’re not looking hard enough,” I said hoarsely. “The scars are there.” I swallowed down my emotion. “And I’m the farthest thing from perfect, Kai.”
He raised his gaze. “Not to me. You were always perfect for me.”
“Sexiest Man Alive” and Golden Globe winning actor Ethan Baker lights up the screen but fizzles in his personal life. When his latest girlfriend breaks up with him, Ethan turns to his one “forever” person—Jude Harrison. But as Ethan makes the familiar drive to his best friend’s house, an unexpected detour and a bewildering passenger take him through places in time he’d long forgotten. Suddenly Ethan sees Jude’s actions over the years from a different perspective, but it’s his own reaction that’s the biggest surprise.
He then gets into his car and calls the most stable constant in his life - his best friend Jude - and finally he feels like he is home.
On the drive over, he thinks he sees someone in the middle of the road ahead of him..... but when he stops the car he doesn't see anybody in front of the car - then he hears a voice and sees a red haired woman sitting in the front seat of his car.
She announces to him that she is his guide, and she is going to take him on a trip! The trip is to take Ethan back in time, and show him something he hasn't seen or rather something that has been staring him in the face but that he was oblivious to.
When he finally arrives at Judes, he is so happy and content, as he realises that all the feelings inside him, are because he is with Jude, still not realising at this moment that it is because he loves Jude, although he knows he feels something deep in his heart. This then begins a journey of discovery for Ethan as slowly but surely he realises that what he actually feels for Ethan is love, and while on this journey there are some red hot sex scenes too....
I really did enjoy this book, Ethan didn't know why he wasn't happy while on set filming, but as soon he was was back home with Jude all was well. Through his travels in time, he also got to see all the signs that Jude cared for him, that he was just too blind to see at the time.

I should have freaked out when I woke up the next morning. Late night, unexpected sex equaled early morning meltdown, often in the form of someone sneaking out and leaving an article of clothing behind. At least that was how it happened in at least a dozen movies and shows I’d starred in, plus that same number of personal indiscretions. But when Jude’s phone rang, jerking us both awake, I felt like I always did when I was with him, happy.
A dozen years, two thousand miles, and a law degree after high school, Rafi Steiner continues to harbor resentment toward Isaac Jones, his childhood bully turned NBA star. When Isaac appears at Rafi's favorite restaurant acting like a long-lost friend, Rafi bluntly dismisses him.
But Isaac is tenacious and he has his heart set on the grown-up version of the boy he always wanted and never forgot. The way Isaac sees it, he and Rafi are perfect for each other, if only he could sink the most important shot of his life: his one shot at forgiveness.
Rafi is totally confused by Issac, as he had tormented him for being gay at high school, so Issac was straight...... wasn't he?? Rafi had always believed so, but the way that Issac was watching his every move made him wonder if he was wrong.
For some strange reason Rafi can't seem to say no to Issac, and before long they have ended up in the bedroom, where I am surprised the sheets didn't catch fire! While talking later, Rafi listens to what Issac has to say, and realises that he may be only remembering the comments that Issac made, he seems to have forgotten all the times that Issac showed him kindness. He then begins to see Issac in a different light.
I have to admit, when reading what Rafi was thinking, I did not like Issac at the beginning of the book, but when you realised what actually taken place, I actually started feeling sorry for Issac. Although he came across as the big strong alpha, he was actually quite shy and I suppose frightened or even terrified that Rafi would reject him.

Both of his hands were on my waistband and he was starting to reach inside when I snapped out of my mental fog. “What the fuck are you doing?” I squawked as I grabbed his wrists and stilled his erotic progression.
He looked up at me from underneath his lashes, somehow managing to pull off innocent despite the lust shining in his eyes and the erection I suddenly noticed pressing up against his zipper. Oh, damn did that ever look nice. My breath hitched, and I clenched my ass, imagining for just one second what it’d be like to be filled by that impressive bulge.
“I’m trying to show you how I feel,” he answered quietly, sounding gravelly and aroused. “I want to make you feel good.”
A pang of lust sharp enough to make my breath hitch shot through me, and my balls drew up tight to my body. Clearly I needed to get laid, because I was actually considering putting the make on a man I detested. Or, more accurately, accepting the offer from the adult version of the boy I’d detested. Same difference.
“Not going to happen,” I said as I shook my head.
He dipped his face and mouthed my dick through the soft fabric of my jeans. It curved to the right—my dick I mean—so that particular portion of my jeans was more worn than the rest, which meant I could feel the heat of his mouth right where I wanted it most. I had to bite my lip to hold back a pleasured moan.
I could’ve stopped him. I should’ve stopped him. But I didn’t.
