Derrick is living under a shadow, the shadow that was his father, and someone he would rather forget. It feels like he thinks he is constantly judged by who his father is, and not for what he is able to do. To me, he tries too hard, and sometimes over compensates to try and prove he is not his father. One thing that he is sure of, is that Gage is the man for him, but so far he has been shot down in flames every time he has approached Gage.
Derrick is asked by his adoptive father Linus Trenton, to help them with a case, by going undercover, and the kicker is that he needs to go undercover with Gage!! Derrick is happy about this, but Gage not so much, as he is not sure he will be able to resist Derrick.
Gage and Derrick go undercover, with Derrick becoming Gage's boy, but very soon everything becomes more than just being undercover. But Derrick is not sure is Gage is still playing the role, or if he is actually being himself.
Derrick will have to convince Gage that they have a chance of happiness together, but is there anything Derrick can do to show Gage he may be young, but he knows what he wants, and what he wants is Gage - the good and the bad.
I did enjoy reading the book, as the back story was really good. I will also say that it does help if you have read the other two books in the series, to get to know what the other characters are, but you can also read this as a standalone.
