On the spur of the moment, with his life collapsing around him, Jay Sullivan answers an ad for a business manager with an expertise in marketing, on a dude ranch in Montana.
With his sister Ashley, niece Kirsten, and nephew Josh in tow, he moves lock stock and barrel from New York to Montana to start a new life on Crooked Tree Ranch.
Foreman and part owner of the ranch, ex rodeo star Nathaniel "Nate" Todd has been running the dude ranch for five years ever since his mentor Marcus Allen became ill.
His brothers convince him that he needs to get an expert in to help the business grow. He knows things have to change and but when the new guy turns up, with a troubled family in tow - he just isn't prepared for how much.
Sean Crisden has a smooth velvety voice, and this makes you want to keep listening and not stop. Although there are quite a few different characters in the book, you have no problem with knowing who was speaking. I can honestly say I could listen to his voice all day long - wouldn't get anything else done, but who cares!!
I really do love this story. You start out meeting Nate, and he is lonely but he has done what he can to ensure his brothers have a stable life after his parents are killed. To do this, he doesn't do anything for himself, he just concentrates on his brothers wellbeing and the dude ranch.
Jay is exactly the same, he has his sister and nephew and niece to look after, and like Nate he does what he can to ensure they have a roof over their heads. All is fine until he is laid off from his job, and there is nothing else around. Then he sees an add for a business manager, and with nothing else around decides to move his whole family with him to Montana.
You can't help but laugh when Nate and Jay first meet, and to begin with it is like they don't like each other, but I think it was lust at first sight for both of them, but neither would dare say anything. Both of their lives are complicated, and it is obvious that they will both put their families before their own happiness.
As Jay and his family settle in to their new life at Crooked Tree Ranch, things begin to improve between Nate and Jay, especially after a night out at a local bar - and this is when they both begin to realise what is missing from their lives, but will they actually do anything about it??
I enjoyed this story so much, and I think it is because it showed Nate and Jay really getting to know each other. You also saw how away from the hustle and bustle of New York, that Jays family seemed to flourish once in Montana, and this also spread to Nate and his brothers too.
